Google Photos, with its new user interface, is creating a positive buzz for its list of noteworthy benefits. Previously tied-up with Google+, Google Photos’ only requirement for you to enjoy its services is a Google account.

Storage Space for Photos and Videos

To use Google Photos as the storage space for your multimedia files is easy enough to do.

• Go to the Google Photos website from your computer.

• Log-in to your G-account.

• Drag-and-drop your photos and videos onto your window.

For advanced settings:

• Open the Menu.

• Choose “Settings.”

• Click “High-Quality.” This choice will enable you to upload as many photos and videos as you’d like. Alternatively, click “Original Size.” This option will let you upload larger files without the need to compress them, but they may use up all your account storage quota.

Google Photos App

For more convenience, you may also download the Google Photos app on your smartphone or

tablet, Windows PC or Mac. The app is available from Google Play.

• For iOS – Download and install the app. Once done, Google Photos app will then automatically upload and store the pictures from your camera roll. This will take the place of uploading your photos to iCloud, which save your Apple’s storage space.

• For Android – Check your Android smartphone or tablet first. It’s most likely that the app is already installed on your gadget. If so, just launch it for automatic uploads.

• For PC and Mac – Google has provided a desktop photo uploader app with the ability to automatically detect uploaded images from the computer. It can identify if a digital camera or an SD-card with photos is connected to the PC or Mac. Once detected, the photo uploader app will then automatically upload the pictures for you.

Photo Browsing

To check and view your photos, just go to the Google Photos website. Use the app instead if you’re using a smartphone or a tablet. You may scroll through your pictures and click them for a quick preview. They are ordered in a list from the most recent uploads to the oldest.

And because it’s designed by Google, it also offers a sophisticated search program that includes an easy-to-use “related search” system. Now, if you wish to organize your multimedia files, experts who review and sell laptops
recommend the use of Google’s “Collections” feature.

Share Options

You can open the Google Photos menu and select “Shared Links” to view and manage these shared links.

Since Google Photos is no longer tied-up with Google+, it now has far more superior sharing features. You may now share your Google Photos image on Facebook and Twitter, aside from Google+ of course. For a less public way of sharing, a link to the image is also available for you to share via IM and email. You may now also download your photos either one at a time or collectively through Google Takeout. This enables you to have an offline backup of your files.

Last, Google Photos is now a part of Google Drive. So if you have a net connection, you’ll be able to access your photos, and download and upload them to your computer.
