Rumor has it that the newest OnePlus flagship phone will take the throne in the budget flagship league yet again. With details already leaking before its official launch, it is no wonder that OnePlus fans are all hyped up for the official announcement on what they can expect from the device. OnePlus has an uncanny way of taking elements from big brands and making it for a fraction of the price—a large fraction. From the aesthetics to its functionality, the new OnePlus 6 will be the best of both iOS and Android worlds without poking a hole in your wallet. Here’s what we know.

Release date

It has become a tradition for OnePlus to announce new products early in the summer, and it’s no different for the OnePlus 6. The official launch date is said to be May 16 at exactly 5 p.m., and we have it in good faith that this is true. It won’t be for sale until later on in June or July 2018, though.

Design

From the photos and teaser video released online, the OnePlus 6 looks to be modeled after Apple’s iPhone X. It features an all-screen display with a notch. It also looks similar to Huawei’s recently released P20, although a bit wider. Also, the back of the handset seems to be made of glass, featuring a fingerprint sensor below a dual camera.

Specifications

With only a teaser to go by, we can’t tell fact from fiction. “Discover your speed” hints at more efficient software, but that is all we can guess. Luckily, however, the Internet contains a wealth of information.

The OnePlus 6 has joined the tall display bandwagon, featuring a 6.28-inch screen with a 19:9 aspect ratio. It retained the 1080 resolution of the OnePlus 5T.

As for the power, OnePlus has confirmed that that the OnePlus 6 uses Snapdragon 845. This is expected to make the OnePlus 6 much faster than its predecessor, the OnePlus 5T. Amazon Germany suggests that it carries a 3,300 mAh battery pack and it will also run on 8GB of RAM with a storage capacity of up to 256 GB.

The dual camera setup at the back features a 16-megapixel camera and a 12-megapixel camera. Going along with the trend, the camera offers portrait effects, optical image stabilization capabilities, and slow-motion video recording. As for its front camera, the only thing we are sure of is that it will still have face-based security and animated emoji capabilities.

According to more juicy rumors that have spread all over the Internet, the OnePlus 6 will be available in a special edition featuring Avengers: Infinity War in the UK.

Cost

Based on a listing on Amazon Germany, the pricing of the OnePlus 6 in euros ranges from €519 to €560 for 64GB and 128 GB units, respectively. In comparison, the most recent flagship handset, OnePlus 5T, retailed for €499 to €559. The US pricing isn’t available yet, but it’s only a matter of time before we find out.
