A lot of people have been anticipating what Apple’s next surprise would be, but nobody probably anticipated anything like this. And no, it’s not even the much-anticipated iPhone 7 that people who sell electronics have been looking forward to for quite some time now. It’s the iPhone SE, and it’s something people never expected Apple would deliver.

Here are some things you should know about the new iPhone SE:

• It’s the iPhone 5s and 6s rolled into one.

It looks like an iPhone 5s, which is great news for those who never really got quite comfortable with the size of the series that follows it. Performance-wise however, it contains an A9 processor, a 12-megapixel camera, and new capabilities such as the Apple Pay, making it more similar to the iPhone 6s inside it.

• It’s a whole lot cheaper.

Of course, it doesn’t have all the added perks that makes the iPhone 6s what it is. For example, the iPhone SE does not have 3D Touch. Its front-facing camera is not as impressive as its rear- facing one too, with only 1.2 megapixels. All these omissions, however, makes the SE a whole lot cheaper than the iPhone 6s. For something extremely powerful for its size (despite the missing features), it definitely is a steal at $399, which is a whole lot less than the iPhone 5s’s introductory price.

• It’s something very familiar to people.

Sure, there were a few doubts about it being a brilliant idea. But guess what – people are actually raving about it. What could prove to be the biggest factor that makes people nod their heads in approval is the fact that it is something really familiar, something that long-time iPhone users have missed. After all, everybody has seen how different the iPhone 6, 6s, and their Plus versions were from all the other iPhones ever built. With the introduction of the iPhone SE, Apple users finally have one reason to believe that the old iPhone they have learned to love is still there, but with a more powerful engine.

• It’s something that experts are raving about.

Sure, there’s no 3D Touch. The screen may not be as impressive as that of the iPhone 6s either. And no, the front-facing camera won’t be giving you the kind of selfies you get from the 6s. But guess what. It’s the SE, not the 6s, and that’s the beauty about it. It takes you back to the basics, but at a faster pace. Because of this, every possible expert in the smartphone arena believe that this is quite a brilliant concept. Finally, Apple has realized that sometimes, they don’t need to deviate to sell. Sometimes, they have to go back to their roots to actually hit that killer selling point.

So it looks like once again, the guys over at Apple have something to exchange fist bumps about. But then again, the successful release of the iPhone SE won’t really be an excuse for them to start resting. Because they still have something even bigger to work on, something that people are waiting for next – the iPhone 7.
