Terms of Trade-in Service


These are key points that you should know:

  • You must be the legal owner of the device you are selling.
  • Smartphones must not be locked with passwords and/or active accounts.
  • If your smartphone is still on a payment plan, you need to pay it off first before you can sell it.
  • If your offer changes after inspection, you are not required to accept the new quote, and you can have your device sent back to you for free, unless your device is significantly different from what you stated online, i.e., device selected online "Apple iPhone 6S", device sent to us "Apple iPhone 5S", in which case, you will be charged a return fee.
  • Including extra accessories, part upgrades (i.e., spare chargers, extra batteries, RAM memory, etc.), and items that are not in our purchasing database do not increase your payout amount, although you may include them if you wish to recycle them.


Trade-In Service (Hereinafter "The Service") is a service provided by Gadget Salvation, LLC (Hereinafter "GS"), wherein you, the trader, offer to sell to GS your device after receiving a "quote" from GS. By participating in The Service, you agree to the terms and conditions set forth herein. These Terms of Use are referred to as the "Agreement". If you have any questions regarding the Agreement, please contact us. Any and all transactions conducted on this site are solely the responsibility of GS and such visitors. The information provided about your device is legitimate and accurate. Your device was manufactured at least in 2014. Older models will not be accepted. Your device has the original hardware from the manufacturer and has not been altered. Any other specifications should be reported to us before you send your device in.

Requirements for Sale/Purchase

In order to complete a Sale or Purchase or to complete any other transaction with GS, you must: (1) Provide true, up to date and accurate information about yourself and any Product you submit for Sale or Purchase from us; (2) Transact on behalf of yourself and not on behalf of others; (3) Comply with all terms and conditions of this Agreement; and (4) Be at least eighteen (18) years old and have the legal ability to enter into an agreement.

1. Removing Data From Your Device

You agree to remove all data and passwords from your current product before shipping it. By sending GS your device, you agree to, upon its acceptance by GS, release them from any claim as to the device, the data stored in such device, or any information on any media used in conjunction with the device and which you send to GS, or for their security, integrity, confidentiality, disclosure or use. You bear sole responsibility for removing or securing such data, or for transferring it to a medium under your continuing control. GS strongly recommends that you back up your data and then erase the data from your hard drive. GS will make reasonable efforts to erase all data from items that are submitted through The Service, but makes no guarantee in this regard. Any files or data left on your system may be accessible to others if the data is not erased. GS is not responsible for securing, protecting, keeping secret or otherwise managing any form of data or information resident on the device (including any computer hard drive, ROM, CD-ROM, disk, or other storage media of any form).

2. Testing Process

The device model number, its configuration, and condition must match what was provided to GS during the trade-in estimation. If they do not match, GS reserves the right to recalculate the trade-in value or reject the trade-in transaction. All devices must have a legible COA and product key. If your device has a OS backup partition, restoration CDs are not necessary. If your device does not have a backup partition, you will need to include the restoration CDs and drivers CDs with it. Failure to do so may affect your quote. We may, at our discretion, offer some trade-in value for devices that display functional conditions that we did not prompt for such as no boot or no power. However, we reserve the right to reject any trade-in for conditions that affect the operation of an item. All devices are inspected upon receipt by GS. GS has the option to accept or deny the device prior to issuance of the Trade-In Value. To receive your full trade-in value, you must accurately state the condition of your device. You agree to state the condition accurately and to the best of your ability based on the guidelines posted on this site. Items with scratches, dents and/or display malfunctioning, whether appearing while an item is powered on or off, will significantly impact the Trade-In Value you receive. GS does not consider any device to be in flawless or good condition if the device is malfunctioning or shows excessive signs of wear (scratches, dents, scuffs, cracks). All batteries must at least hold 70% of its original charge, otherwise, it will be considered malfunctioning; if this is the case, you should select "Defective/Missing battery" on the online calculator. If your device is not shipped to GS within 7 days of receiving confirmation by e-mail or if its condition, as received, differs materially from that which you described during the estimation process, GS reserves the right to recalculate the trade-in value using the same condition parameters originally available to you. The testing process may take up to 48 business hours. Packing and shipping recommendations should be followed in order to avoid possible damage or loss. If you chose to accept the value quoted, your trade-in will be processed using the newly calculated value. If you disagree with the final assessment and valuation of your items, you may refuse the trade-in offer. SIM cards, forgotten discs, etc., are discarded during the inspection process, and cannot be returned to you.

3. Misrepresentations

If your device has been misrepresented by you we will contact you by email with a new offer. You are not obligated to accept the new offer. If you choose to reject this new offer you may have your device returned to you at no cost, with few exceptions. If no response is received within 48 hours, we will process your payment according to the new offer. This payment will be mailed to the name and address you provided. After the payment is issued, your device will be processed for recycling. Once it has been processed, it cannot be returned to you.

4. Returns

Return shipping is free. You may have your device sent back to you at no cost to you, with a few exceptions:

  • Wrong device model selected.
  • Change of mind about intent to sell before receiving inspection results.
  • Device deemed in a hazardous condition.
  • The device's condition is grossly misrepresented.
  • The device is damaged due to poor packaging.
  • Phones and tablets with unpaid balances, financed gadgets, passcode/account/company-locked devices, computers with BIOS locks.
  • Gadgets reported lost or stolen.

If you send us the wrong device model, you'll receive a new quote based on the actual device model we received. If you don't accept the new quote and would like your device sent back to you, return shipping costs must be paid in advance.
If your device is in an unsanitary condition (i.e., strong odors, excessive dust/dirt), we may deem it hazardous for our employees to handle. In this case, you will have to pay the return shipping cost to have your device(s) returned to you. Alternatively, we can dispose of them for you at no extra charge. We'll contact you before any action is taken; if no response is received within 48 hours, your device(s) will be disposed of at our sole discretion.
If your device is in transit to us or has already been delivered to us and you would like to cancel the transaction due to a change of mind, you may have your device sent back to you, return shipping costs must be paid in advance.

5. Fitness For Sale

You must own the right, title, and interest in any and all devices you seek to sell through the GS Trade-in program. Such items, or the sale and shipment of such items, must not violate any applicable laws, statutes, ordinances, or regulations, including export laws. You are responsible for complying with any and all such laws. Any device you seek to sell through the site using our services: (1) shall not infringe on third-party intellectual property rights (including copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets or other proprietary rights), (2) shall not be counterfeit, stolen, or fraudulent, (3) must be able to be transferred to a new owner. You represent and warrant that the trade-in products are free of any liens or encumbrances, including third-party software, which may not be transferred or for which royalties are due. By using The Service, you agree to indemnify GS from all claims or losses sustained by GS as a result of any breach of this warranty.

6. Payments

Payments are issued within two (2) business once payout amount confirmation is received. Payments are made via company check, PayPal, Bank Transfer (Zelle) or Venmo. You are responsible for providing accurate payee information. If checks are lost in the mail, we will first cancel the lost check issued before issuing a new one. If a PayPal, Venmo, or Chase Payment is sent to the wrong email, phone, or account number due to wrongful information provided by you, we will try to recover the funds from the payee (if one exists) before issuing a new payment. If the funds cannot be recovered, we are not responsible for issuing a new payment using the corrected information you provided. Venmo payments are limited to transactions up to $200.00, for greater amounts you'll have to select PayPal, Zelle or Check. Please make sure to double-check the payee information before confirming payment. All checks are voided after 90 days. Please make sure to cash it within this period. You may request a new check if the original check is voided within one (1) year. After this period, the check expires, and we are not legally required to issue a new check.

7. Releasing Rights to Trade-In Product

Once you send GS your product, GS cannot and does not guarantee that it will be able to honor any request for the return of the product and/or any data or information contained in said product. Any advice, support, or quotes given by an agent is an estimate. The condition of your device will be finally determined by the test we run on it once delivered and processed. Once you receive a quote confirmation in the email, it will expire after 30 calendar days. Your device must be shipped and delivered within this time frame. The free-of-charge return only applies to devices that are fully functional and do not require refurbishment at all. Devices older than one (1) year old might be held for testing for more than two (2) days. GS updates the quotes every 10 days. The date of the price update is shown on every page right above the prices. If the quote is expired, GS will contact you with a new quote BEFORE you send your device.

8. Risk-Of-Loss

You remain responsible for the risk of loss for the trade-in products until delivery of the same to GS. You are responsible for any damages that may occur to your product while in transit. Risk-of-Loss only passes to GS upon the opening of the packaging in which the Trade-In Product was sent by you. If GS denies your offer to trade your product, the risk of loss will be transferred to you, provided you request the return of the product. If the device can be returned to you, you will be responsible for any and all associated shipping costs. This offer is non-transferable, not redeemable for any other consideration other than what is quoted by GS, and upon your receipt of the Purchase Price, in whatever form sent, it is non-refundable. Prices offered by GS are subject to and will change without notice; GS will terminate offerings on certain Trade-In devices at any time and without advanced notice. All decisions of acceptance or denial of your offer to use The Service by GS are final. GS makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of all information that you receive in relation to your Trade-In device. In the event of typographical errors, technical inaccuracies, or product pricing errors or omissions, GS reserves the right to correct the error at the point of inspection. If GS corrects the error, GS will provide you with the following options: (1) to proceed with the transaction based on the corrected information; or (2) to cancel your transaction, in which case GS will promptly return the Trade-In Product back to you.
It is recommended to document proof of serial numbers, physical condition, and functionality before you ship your device(s) to us.

9. General Provisions:

a. Entire Agreement/No Waiver. These Terms of Service constitute the entire agreement of the parties with respect to the subject matter hereof. The captions are used only as a matter of convenience and are not to be considered a part of this agreement or be used in determining the intent of the parties to it. No waiver by GS of any breach or default hereunder shall be deemed to be a waiver of any preceding or subsequent breach or default.

b. Correction of Errors and Inaccuracies. The Content may contain typographical errors or other errors or inaccuracies and may not be complete or current. GS, therefore, reserves the right to correct any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions and to change or update the Content at any time without prior notice. GS does not, however, guarantee that any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions will be corrected.

c. Modification. GS reserves the right to modify this Agreement at any time without giving you prior notice. Your use of The Service and following any such modification constitutes your agreement to follow and be bound by the Agreement as modified. The last date these Terms of Service were revised is set forth below. Terms and conditions modifying the Agreement are effective immediately upon posting.
