The recently concluded Apple WWDC 2016 was packed with small, accumulative updates to most Apple products. Gadget reviewers and vendors who sell electronics noted that most changes were designed for a smooth transition between Apple units. Below are the top ten updates from the recent event.

  1. MacOS

OS X is the new MacOS. This new release will be known as Sierra. In July 2016, the public beta will be launched. The final version is coming this fall. Among the major focal points of the new operating system is continuity through all Apple devices. Sierra will feature Siri on MAC computers complete with its standard functions.

  1. Apple Pay

Apple Pay will be available on Safari for an easier online payment system. The authentication process will use Apples TouchID through an iPhone or Apple Watch. Apple Pay will roll out in Switzerland, France, and Hong Kong.

  1. Apple Watch

Among the many updates on Apple Watch, the most important is its upgraded loading process. The new Apple Watch can load applications seven times faster than before. Navigation is purportedly easier on the new system as well. The wearable device will also feature a new SOS function, which can be turned on when the side switch is hard pressed. The action will trigger a call to 911 and transmits details about the location to both the first responder and the users emergency contact.

  1. iOS

The iOS updates are referred to as the biggest iOS release ever for Apple users. The update includes full Music and Maps redesigns, new unique notifications, and a broadened function for 3D Touch.

  1. Apple News

By today, Apple News has over 2,000 published content and more than 60 million readers every month. Apple has created a brand new design that includes straightforward sections such as Top News and Sports. Also, Apple News now supports subscriptions and breaking news notifications.

  1. Apple Music

Apple Music gets an extensive redesign with entirely new divisions that make it simpler to get around the app. The updates include a section for downloaded music and another segment for recently added songs. It also highlights Spotify-like features such as Discovery Mix. There will also be new curated playlists every day.

  1. Maps

Maps is redesigned to provide more features once the app is launched. Users can book a ride via Maps, and then pay the drive with Apple Pay. Navigation gets easier as well with directions that add traffic updates.

  1. iMessage

iMessage updates include larger emoji and recommendations for converting certain keywords into emoji. Users can write notes to each other using their own handwriting. Animated effects are also available, plus an invisible ink that hides messages until they’re deleted or swiped out.

  1. Photos

Photos is being improved with additional features to allow easy organization and management of photo collections. The app will also add Memories and montage options to add music to photos automatically.

  1. Voicemail

iOS 10 now has voicemail transcription. The new feature automatically transcribes voicemails and delivers them as text messages.

WWDC was brimming with updates and redesigns, several of which appear minor by themselves, but put together can produce easier navigation around Apples ecosystem.
