Why news of damage to property and reports of dangerous chemical leaks due to the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 units spontaneously expoding, Samsung is actively recalling units with  major battery defects.

Samsung claims that only a small number of devices have experienced the problem , and not the estimated 2.5 million units made and released. But based on tech review and vendors who sell electronics , there is no official report on the total number of global incidents from Samsung Yet.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has made Samsung´s recall official. The phones could not be sold legalli in Canada an Mexico and in other countries where they have issued formal bans. Reports say that some airline companieshave also banned the use of the use of the said Samsung model onboard their planes.

There are some countries that allowed the exchange of flawed Note 7 phones for non-defective units, but Samsung may still not be getting any new sales in the coming weeks.

Is the Note 7 Problem Resolved?

Samsung announced that the Note 7 units that were sold after September 15 are absolutely safe to use. Samsung is now working with various government agencies worldwide for the transition to the new Note 7 models.

The new units now come with a software update that shows a green battery icon instead of a white one to indicate that the unit is new and unaffected. More Updates on the Note 7 Recall

According to Samsung, half of the defective lot with faulty , exploding batteries is now out of consumers’ hands in the US.

Two days after the incident reports, Samsung has shipped about 500, 000 Galaxy Note 7 replacement units to retailers in the US. This batch is to replace the one million units that have been sold. Samsung claims that only half of current Note 7 owners in the US have claimed the replacements and returned their Note 7’s.

Samsung reports that majority of the people who exchanged their units still opted for the new Note 7 instead of refunding their money.
