Another downside is poor battery performance. The Alienware x17 R2 lasted for exactly 2 hours and 13 minutes in a work test with the screen at 150 nits. Not impressive, even for a gaming laptop. However, when it comes to watching videos, you can manage to squeeze out over 3 hours of playback, if you tweak your settings. But we suspect that you mostly be using your Alienware x17 R2 as a stationary computer, so having it plugged in should not be an issue, as long as you set up your gaming station near the outlet.
