The System76 Galago Pro is a 14-inch Linux-first ultrabook built for developers, sysadmins, and anyone who wanted a laptop that runs open-source software well out of the box. Sold from 2019 through 2023 across four internal revisions — galp4, galp5, galp6, and galp7 — it paired a thin aluminum chassis with user-upgradeable memory and storage, a rarity in a market that increasingly solders everything down. System76 ships it with Pop!_OS, its own Ubuntu-based distribution, though plenty of units have since been reinstalled with Ubuntu, Fedora, or Windows. Because the internals are standard Intel hardware rather than a proprietary Linux-only stack, resale demand comes from both the Linux community and buyers who just want a serviceable, well-built ultrabook. Pick your processor generation and condition in the picker above for an instant cash offer, and see how the process works before you commit. If you have more than one machine to move, you can also sell your laptop through the same flow.
Confirm you have the Galago Pro
The quickest reliable check is the sticker on the underside of the chassis, which prints the model code (galp4, galp5, galp6, or galp7) next to the serial number. If the sticker has worn off, boot into the BIOS/UEFI setup screen by pressing Esc or F2 at power-on and read the system model field, or, if the OS still boots, open a terminal and run sudo dmidecode -s system-version, which prints the codename directly.

Prefer a visual check? All revisions share the same thin aluminum lid with the System76 logo, a matte 14-inch display, and no discrete GPU badge anywhere on the chassis — the Galago Pro has never shipped with dedicated graphics. Still unsure which of your devices is which? Our model finder can help narrow it down.

Processor generation moves resale value the most on this model, since it's the one spec that can't be upgraded after purchase. A galp7 with a 13th Gen chip will consistently outvalue an otherwise identical galp4.
Display & audio
Display
A 14-inch matte 1920x1080 panel with thin bezels, chosen for readability under office lighting rather than color accuracy.

Port selection is consistent across galp4 through galp7, with wireless hardware improving in later revisions.

Battery, build & more
Battery
Built-in and not user-swappable in normal use. System76 positions the Galago Pro as an all-day machine, though real runtime depends heavily on which processor generation and display brightness the previous owner ran.
Software
Ships from System76 with Pop!_OS, an Ubuntu-based distribution built in-house. Plenty of units in the resale market have been reinstalled with Ubuntu, Fedora, or Windows, which is worth noting when describing your unit's condition.
Market positioning
A niche but loyal market. Buyers are typically developers or Linux users looking specifically for a serviceable machine rather than a mainstream consumer laptop, which keeps demand for well-kept units steady.
