The Alienware X14 is Dell's thinnest gaming laptop chassis to date, built to prove that a 14-inch machine could still carry a real NVIDIA GPU. The X14 R1 (model P150G) launched in 2022 with 12th Gen Intel Core processors, and the X14 R2 (model P170G) followed in 2023 with 13th Gen Core chips and updated RTX 40-series graphics. Both were built for players who wanted portability without giving up discrete graphics, and the CNC-aluminum Lunar Light shell has held its resale appeal well since the design still reads as current. Whichever revision you have, the GPU tier and SSD size do the most to set what it is worth today. Pick your exact processor, graphics card, and storage in the configuration tool above for a live cash offer, see how the process works, or browse our gaming laptop buyback page for other models.
Confirm you have the Alienware X14
The fastest way to confirm your exact revision is through Windows. Press the Windows key, type dxdiag, and check the System tab for your processor generation, or run msinfo32 to see the full model name and BIOS version. The Dell Service Tag, printed on the bottom panel, also identifies the exact configuration when entered on Dell's support site.
X14 R1 (P150G)
- Released 2022
- Intel Core i5 or i7, 12th Gen
- NVIDIA RTX 3050, 3050 Ti, or 3060
X14 R2 (P170G)
- Released 2023
- Intel Core i5 or i7, 13th Gen
- NVIDIA RTX 4050 or 4060
Prefer a visual check? Both revisions share the same Lunar Light aluminum shell and the single rear vent bar with the illuminated Alienware head logo. Neither revision has a fingerprint reader, so if your unit has one, it is not an X14.
Core hardware configurations
Processor
- Intel Core i5, 12th Gen
- Intel Core i7, 12th Gen
- Intel Core i5, 13th Gen
- Intel Core i7, 13th Gen
Graphics
- NVIDIA RTX 3050 or 3050 Ti
- NVIDIA RTX 3060
- NVIDIA RTX 4050
- NVIDIA RTX 4060
The graphics card moves resale value more than any other spec on this model. A 40-series card commands a stronger offer than a 30-series card at the same storage tier.
Memory
- LPDDR5 memory, soldered to the board
- Not user-upgradable after purchase
Storage
- Single M.2 PCIe SSD slot
- 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, or 4TB
Larger SSDs help the offer, though not as much as the GPU tier does.
Display & audio
Display
A 14-inch FHD (1920x1080) panel with high refresh rate, tuned with Dell's ComfortView Plus low blue light filter. The compact size keeps the chassis small without cutting into frame rate at 1080p.
Audio
Dual stereo speakers flank the keyboard deck. Given the thin chassis, do not expect much low end. Headphones or an external speaker are the better choice for anything beyond casual listening.
Ports & connectivity
Port selection is deliberately tight on the X14, a trade-off for the thin chassis. Charging is handled through a slim proprietary DC-in connector rather than a standard barrel plug, so hang on to the original power adapter if you can.

Battery, build & more
Battery
The battery is smaller than what you get in Alienware's deeper chassis, a direct trade-off for the thin design. Expect noticeably shorter runtime under sustained gaming load than on plugged-in performance.
Finishes
Both revisions ship in the same Lunar Light aluminum finish. There is no alternate color option for the X14 line.
Software
Runs Windows 11, with Alienware Command Center handling performance profiles, fan curves, and RGB lighting.
Known issues
Sustained thermal throttling under heavy gaming load is a well-documented trait of this chassis, a consequence of packing discrete graphics into a 14-inch body. The proprietary power connector also means a lost charger has to be replaced with a Dell-specific part rather than a generic USB-C brick.
