The Apple iPad Air (4th generation), announced September 15 and released October 23, 2020, was a ground-up redesign that brought the iPad Pro's modern look to the Air line. It introduced a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display with slim flat-edge styling, moved Touch ID into the top button (no more Home button), switched to USB-C — a first for the Air — and dropped the headphone jack. Powered by the A14 Bionic chip and supporting the 2nd-generation Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard, it came in Silver, Space Gray, Rose Gold, Green, and Sky Blue. Because storage and connectivity are the two factors that move its resale price, select your configuration using the tool above to view an instant cash offer for your exact device.
Identify your exact iPad Air 4
The iPad Air 4 came in a single 10.9-inch size, so the model number on the back tells you which connectivity version you have. Open Settings > General > About > Model Number and tap once to reveal the A-number, or read the small text near the bottom of the rear casing:
Wi-Fi
- Model A2316
- Solid aluminum back, no SIM tray, no GPS
Wi-Fi + Cellular
- Model A2324 (US/CA), A2072 (Global), or A2325 (China)
- Adds nano-SIM tray, eSIM, GPS/GNSS, and a subtle antenna line at the top of the back
The quickest visual tell between Wi-Fi and Cellular: the Wi-Fi model has a clean aluminum back, while Cellular units have a faint antenna band along the top edge. Don't confuse the Air 4 with the look-alike 11-inch iPad Pro — the A-number is the reliable tell. Need help locating it? See our guide to finding your gadget's model.
