The ASUS ROG Flow X16 (GV601) is ROG's 16-inch convertible gaming laptop — a genuine rarity that pairs high-end dedicated graphics with a 360° flip hinge, touchscreen, and stylus support. The GV601 chassis spans two generations: the 2022 AMD models (GV601RE, GV601RM, GV601RW) built on the Ryzen 9 6900HS with GeForce RTX 3050 Ti, 3060, or 3070 Ti graphics, and the 2023 Intel refresh (GV601VU, GV601VV, GV601VI) built on the Core i9-13900H with RTX 4050, 4060, or 4070 graphics. Both generations share the same slim black chassis, tri-fan cooling, and ROG's XG Mobile external-GPU connector, so the internals — not the looks — decide what your unit is worth. Many people don't realize a premium 2-in-1 like this can be sold online for cash in minutes; Flow X16 units hold their value especially well thanks to the Mini LED display option and the scarcity of true gaming convertibles. Select your configuration in the quote tool above for an instant offer, or use the guide below to pin down your exact model first.

Which Flow X16 do you have?

Confirm it's a Flow X16 (GV601)

  • The screen is 16 inches, it's a touchscreen, and the hinge folds all the way back into tablet or tent mode — regular ROG laptops can't do that
  • Flip it over: the label on the bottom panel reads GV601 followed by two letters (RE, RM, RW, VU, VV, or VI)
  • The right edge has a rubber-covered ROG XG Mobile connector — a wide port unique to the Flow family
  • No label? Press the Windows key, type "System Information," and read the "System Model" line — ten seconds, no technical skill needed

Don't confuse it with these

  • ROG Zephyrus M16 (GU603/GU604) — same 16-inch size and similar looks, but a standard clamshell: no touchscreen, no 360° hinge
  • ROG Flow X13 (GV301/GV302) — the smaller 13-inch convertible sibling
  • ROG Flow Z13 (GZ301) — a detachable tablet with a kickstand, not a fold-back laptop
  • Inside the GV601 family, the fastest tiebreaker is the processor brand: AMD Ryzen 9 = 2022 model (RE/RM/RW) · Intel Core i9 = 2023 model (VU/VV/VI). Then check "Display adapters" in Device Manager — the graphics card pins down the exact letter code

Display & audio

Display

All models use a glossy 16-inch 16:10 QHD+ (2560 × 1600) touchscreen with stylus support. The 2022 generation runs at 165Hz — as either a standard IPS panel or the flagship ROG Nebula HDR Mini LED (DisplayHDR 1000, up to 1100 nits peak). The 2023 generation bumps both panel tiers to 240Hz, with the Mini LED version gaining 1024 local dimming zones and Dolby Vision. Not sure which you have? Right-click the desktop → Display settings → Advanced display shows your refresh rate — it matters for your quote.

Audio

Quad-speaker system with dual front-facing tweeters and dual woofers, Dolby Atmos processing, and AI noise cancellation on the microphone array.

Ports & connectivity

The Flow X16 keeps a slim convertible port layout — note there's no Ethernet jack and no full-size SD slot on either generation.

Left Side
  • 1× USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 with DisplayPort and 100W Power Delivery (on the 2023 Intel models this is joined by a full Thunderbolt 4 port; the 2022 AMD models have no Thunderbolt)
  • 1× ROG XG Mobile interface + USB-C combo port (for ASUS's external GPU docks — keep the rubber port cover, buyers expect it)
  • 1× HDMI (2.0b on 2022 models; upgraded to HDMI 2.1 on 2023 models)
  • 1× Power adapter input (DC-in)
Right Side & Extras
  • 2× USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports
  • 1× microSD card reader (UHS-II)
  • 1× 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack
  • Power button with the volume rocker on the edge for tablet mode

Wi-Fi 6E Bluetooth 5.2 / 5.3 No Ethernet port IR camera + Windows Hello

Battery, build & more

Battery & charging

Both generations carry a 4-cell 90 Whr battery with a 240W barrel-plug adapter. The laptop also charges over USB-C at up to 100W — handy for travel, though it can't sustain full gaming power that way, so include the original brick with your trade-in if you have it.

Camera & mic

Webcam with an IR sensor for Windows Hello face login on both generations (upgraded to full 1080p resolution on the 2023 models), plus a 3D-mic noise-canceling array.

Keyboard & stylus

RGB-backlit chiclet keyboard with 1.7 mm travel and dedicated volume/mic/Armoury Crate hotkeys. The touchscreen supports ASUS Pen stylus input — include the pen if yours shipped with one, as it adds to a complete-kit impression.

Cooling

Unusual tri-fan design: two exhaust fans plus a third central intake fan pulling fresh air across the components, with a full-width rear heatsink. ASUS applies liquid-metal thermal compound on the CPU at the factory.

Weight

≈ 2.1 kg (4.6 lb) — remarkably light for the performance class, which is part of why used demand stays strong.

Dimensions

355 × 243 × 19.4 mm (13.98" × 9.57" × 0.76").

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I find out exactly which Flow X16 model I own?
Press the Windows key, type "System Information," and press Enter — the "System Model" line will show a code like GV601RE, GV601RM, GV601RW, GV601VU, GV601VV, or GV601VI. The same code appears on the bottom-panel sticker, usually with a retail suffix such as GV601RW-XS96, GV601RM-M5120X, GV601RE-M5057X, GV601VI-CS94, GV601VV-BH96, GV601VV-DS91-CA, or GV601VU-DS91T-CA. Note the full code before requesting your quote — the two letters after "GV601" identify your graphics card, which is the single biggest factor in your offer. Our ASUS model number guide shows each step with pictures.
02 Mine is a 16-inch ROG but the screen doesn't fold back — is it still a Flow X16?
No — if the hinge stops at a normal laptop angle and the screen isn't touch-enabled, you almost certainly have a ROG Zephyrus M16 (model code GU603 or GU604), which looks very similar but is a different product with different pricing. Likewise, a 13-inch fold-back convertible is the Flow X13 (GV301/GV302), and a detachable tablet with a kickstand is the Flow Z13 (GZ301). Quoting the wrong series is the most common reason offers get revised after inspection, so double-check the model code on the bottom panel — it should begin with "GV601." If your exact unit isn't in our selector, submit a custom quote with the full code and we'll price it manually.
03 Can I sell a Flow X16 with a loose hinge, worn battery, or screen issues?
Yes. Convertibles live harder lives than clamshells, and we account for that: wobbly or loosened 360° hinges, batteries that drain quickly, scuffed corners, dead pixels or backlight blooming on the Mini LED panel, unresponsive touch zones, and missing styluses all simply adjust the condition grading — they don't disqualify the laptop. Answer the condition questions honestly and the quote you accept is the offer we stand behind. Even a unit that won't power on retains value through its RTX graphics, DDR5 memory, and SSDs.
04 How does trading in my ROG Flow X16 actually work?
Many people don't realize that selling a used gaming laptop online for cash is even an option — they picture eBay fees, lowball local offers, and shipping disputes. Our trade-in process removes all of that: select your GV601 configuration and condition above, accept the instant quote, and we email you a free, fully insured prepaid shipping label. Once your laptop arrives and passes inspection, payment goes out within two business days via PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, or check. You can browse everything we accept on our sell your gaming laptop page or the full ASUS ROG lineup. For an honest comparison of trade-in versus marketplace selling, our blog posts on how to sell a gaming laptop and where and how to sell a gaming laptop walk through the trade-offs.
05 Should I wipe my data or remove the SSDs before shipping?
Back up your files, artwork, and game saves to the cloud or an external drive, then sign out of your accounts — Windows/Microsoft, Steam, Epic, Xbox, and any creative-app licenses like Adobe. There's no need to open the chassis or pull the M.2 drives (including any second SSD you added yourself — mention it in your quote notes instead, since extra storage can increase your offer). Every laptop we receive is wiped to factory settings as a standard part of inspection. Full details are on our data erasure protocols page.
