The ASUS ROG G752 series was Republic of Gamers' flagship 17.3-inch gaming line from late 2015 through 2017, instantly recognizable by its silver "Armor Titanium" chassis with copper accents — a sharp departure from the black plastic of earlier ROG machines. The family spans three waves: the original G752VL, G752VT, and G752VY (2015, GeForce GTX 900-series graphics), the Pascal-powered G752VM and G752VS (2016, GTX 1060/1070), and the G752VS(KBL) / G752VSK refresh (2017, 7th-gen Intel processors). Because the same chassis was sold for three years with wildly different internals — from a GTX 965M to an overclocked Core i7-6820HK with GTX 1070 — your exact sub-model makes a real difference to its resale value. Many people assume a laptop from this era is too old to sell, but that's not the case: G752 units still trade actively, and turning yours into cash online takes just a few minutes. Select your configuration in the quote tool above for an instant offer, or use the guide below to identify exactly which G752 you own.
Which ROG G752 do you have?
Confirm it's a G752
- Flip the laptop over: the label on the bottom panel reads G752VL, G752VT, G752VY, G752VM, G752VS, or G752VSK
- The lid and body are silver-gray with orange-copper trim around the rear vents — no other ROG 17-inch generation uses this color scheme
- It has a built-in DVD or Blu-ray optical drive on the right edge, something its successor (the G703) dropped entirely
- No label? Press the Windows key, type "System Information," and read the "System Model" line — it takes ten seconds and no technical skill
Don't confuse it with these
- ROG G751 / G750 — the older matte-black 17-inch models this series replaced
- ROG G703 "Chimera" — the 2017–2019 successor: darker chassis, 144Hz display, no optical drive
- ROG GL752VW — a budget lookalike with similar naming; it's plastic-bodied, lacks G-Sync and Thunderbolt 3, and is priced very differently
- Quick tiebreaker inside the family: 6th-gen Intel + GTX 900-series = 2015 model (VL/VT/VY) · 6th-gen + GTX 10-series = 2016 model (VM/VS) · 7th-gen Intel (i7-7700HQ/7820HK) = 2017 G752VS(KBL)/VSK

Core hardware configurations
Processor (CPU)
- 2015–2016 models: Intel Core i7-6700HQ — 4 cores / 8 threads, up to 3.5 GHz (Skylake)
- G752VS OC Edition: unlocked Intel Core i7-6820HK, factory-overclocked to 3.6–4.0 GHz
- 2017 G752VS(KBL) / VSK: Intel Core i7-7700HQ (up to 3.8 GHz) or unlocked i7-7820HK (Kaby Lake)
Graphics (GPU)
- G752VL: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M — 2GB GDDR5
- G752VT: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M — 3GB GDDR5
- G752VY: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M — 4GB or 8GB GDDR5
- G752VM: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 — 6GB GDDR5
- G752VS / VSK: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 — 8GB GDDR5, VR-ready
- No Optimus graphics switching on any model — G-Sync runs directly off the dedicated GPU, which is also why battery life is short
Memory (RAM)
- DDR4 SO-DIMM memory — DDR4-2133 on 2015 models, DDR4-2400 on OC and Kaby Lake units
- Factory options from 8GB up to 64GB depending on configuration
- Four SO-DIMM slots, user-upgradable to 64GB — nothing is soldered
Storage
- One M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD slot — factory drives ranged from 128GB to 512GB (up to 1TB on top VS configs)
- Plus a 2.5-inch SATA bay, typically with a 1TB or 2TB HDD at 5400 or 7200 RPM
- Built-in DVD Super-Multi or Blu-ray optical drive depending on region and configuration
Display & audio
Display
All models use a 17.3-inch anti-glare IPS panel with NVIDIA G-Sync. The 2015–2016 standard is FHD (1920 × 1080) at 75Hz, with a 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) 60Hz option on top G752VY configurations. The 2016–2017 G752VS/VSK introduced a faster FHD 120Hz panel on many SKUs. Check your refresh rate in Windows display settings if you're unsure which panel you have — it affects your quote.
Audio
Stereo speakers plus a built-in subwoofer, with S/PDIF digital output supported on the headphone jack and ESS audio tuning on later units.
Ports & connectivity
Unlike later ROG flagships, the G752 keeps every port on the left and right edges — nothing routes out the back.
- 1× Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C (data and DisplayPort output only — the G752 cannot charge over USB-C and requires its barrel-plug power brick)
- 1× HDMI 2.0
- 1× Mini DisplayPort
- 1× RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet
- 1× SD card reader
- 1× 3.5mm microphone-in jack
- 1× 3.5mm headphone-out jack (S/PDIF)
- 4× USB-A 3.0 ports
- 1× DVD Super-Multi or Blu-ray optical drive
- 1× Power adapter input (DC-in)
- Kensington lock slot
- Dedicated ROG macro keys and Gaming Center hotkey beside the keyboard
Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac 2x2) Bluetooth 4.0 (2015) / 4.1 (2016–2017) No webcam IR / Windows Hello
Battery, build & more
Battery & charging
Two battery tiers: the G752VL, VT, VY, and VM use a 6-cell 67 Whr pack (A32N1511), while the GTX 1070-equipped G752VS/VSK carries a larger 8-cell 90 Whr battery. Charging is via a 230W brick on Maxwell-era units and a 330W brick on the VS. Expect around two hours of light use even when healthy — short battery life is normal for this series, not a defect.
Camera & mic
Integrated HD (720p) webcam above the display with a built-in microphone array. No IR camera and no Windows Hello facial login on any configuration.
Keyboard
Full-size backlit chiclet keyboard (red LED backlighting, not per-key RGB) with a number pad, 2.5 mm key travel, anti-ghosting with 30-key rollover, and a column of programmable ROG macro keys.
Cooling
Dual-fan, dual-exhaust copper heat-pipe design with self-cleaning dust channels. The G752VY and G752VS add ROG's 3D Vapor Chamber over the GPU — a key reason the OC Edition sustains its overclocks.
Weight
≈ 4.4–4.5 kg (9.7–9.9 lb) depending on configuration and optical drive. Pack it in a sturdy box with generous padding.
Dimensions
428 × 334 × 23–43 mm (16.9" × 13.1" × 0.9"–1.7") — wedge-shaped, thickest at the rear vents.
