The ASUS TUF Dash F15 is the slim, Intel-only branch of ASUS's TUF Gaming family, produced for two generations: the original 2021 model (FX516 — models FX516PC, FX516PE, FX516PM, and FX516PR) with 11th-gen Intel Core H35 processors, and the 2022 refresh (FX517 — models FX517ZC, FX517ZE, FX517ZM, and FX517ZR) with 12th-gen Intel Core chips, DDR5 memory, and a dedicated MUX switch. Both generations pack NVIDIA RTX 30-series graphics from the RTX 3050 up to the RTX 3070 into a 19.9mm MIL-STD-tested chassis in Eclipse Gray / Off Black or Moonlight White. Because the same GPU names appear in both years at different power levels, the letter in your model code — P for 2021, Z for 2022 — matters as much as the graphics chip when pricing your laptop. Which TUF do you have? Check before you quote

ASUS sells several TUF laptops that look alike, and the "Dash" is easily confused with the standard TUF Gaming F15. Flip your laptop over and read the model code on the bottom sticker — it settles the question in seconds.

  • Longer retail codes like FX517ZM-HQ036W belong here too — everything after the dash is just the regional configuration

✗ Not this page: TUF lookalikes

  • TUF Gaming F15 (FX506, FX507) — the thicker, mainstream Intel line; same 15.6-inch TUF styling but a different laptop with different values
  • TUF Gaming A15 (FA506, FA507) — the AMD Ryzen equivalent
  • TUF Gaming F17 / A17 — the 17.3-inch models
  • There is no "Dash" after 2022 — the line merged back into the regular TUF Gaming F15

Core hardware configurations

Processor (CPU)

  • Intel Core i7-11370H — 4 cores, 8 threads, up to 4.8 GHz (most 2021 models); top 2021 trims used the i7-11375H (up to 5.0 GHz), and some international entry configurations used the i5-11300H
  • Intel Core i7-12650H — 10 cores, 16 threads, up to 4.7 GHz (most 2022 models); entry 2022 configurations used the 8-core i5-12450H
  • The generation gap is significant: 2022's chips have more than double the cores of 2021's quad-core H35 processors, which affects resale value accordingly

Graphics (GPU)

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 — 4GB GDDR6 (FX516PC, FX517ZC)
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti — 4GB GDDR6 (FX516PE, FX517ZE)
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 — 6GB GDDR6 (FX516PM, FX517ZM)
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 — 8GB GDDR6 (FX516PR, FX517ZR)
  • Same GPU names, different power: 2021 units run the RTX 3060/3070 at up to 85W, while 2022 units run them at up to 105W and add a dedicated MUX switch — so a 2022 unit with the "same" GPU performs meaningfully better

Memory (RAM)

  • 2021 (FX516): DDR4-3200 — 8GB or 16GB soldered to the motherboard plus one SO-DIMM slot, up to 32GB total; the soldered portion is permanent
  • 2022 (FX517): DDR5-4800 — two standard SO-DIMM slots, nothing soldered, fully user-upgradable to 32GB
  • Factory totals shipped as 8GB or 16GB on both generations

Storage

  • M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD — 512GB or 1TB factory capacities
  • Two M.2 slots on both generations, with one typically left empty for easy expansion (the 2022 model's second slot supports PCIe 4.0 drives)
  • If a second drive was added, count the combined capacity when quoting

Display & audio

Display

15.6-inch anti-glare IPS-level panels with Adaptive-Sync on every version, but the options differ by year. 2021 models offered FHD (1920 × 1080) at 144Hz (budget 62.5% sRGB panel) or 240Hz (100% sRGB). 2022 models offered FHD at 144Hz or 300Hz, plus a WQHD (2560 × 1440) 165Hz option — the QHD screen exists only on 2022 units. If you're unsure which panel you have, the refresh rate shown in Windows display settings is the quickest tell.

Audio

Dual stereo speakers with DTS:X Ultra processing (2021) or Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio (2022), plus Two-Way AI Noise Cancelation for voice chat on both generations.

Ports & connectivity

Both generations include Thunderbolt 4 and a full-size Gigabit Ethernet jack — rare in a chassis this thin. One absence to know about: there is no SD card reader on any TUF Dash F15.

2021 models (FX516)
  • 1× Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) (DisplayPort output and up to 100W USB-C charging)
  • 3× USB-A 3.2 Gen 1
  • 1× HDMI 2.0b
  • 1× RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet
  • 1× 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack
  • 1× Power adapter input (DC-in)
2022 models (FX517)
  • 1× Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) + 1× USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (the second USB-C adds DisplayPort with G-SYNC support; USB-C charging up to 100W)
  • 2× USB-A 3.2 Gen 1
  • 1× HDMI 2.0b
  • 1× RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet
  • 1× 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack
  • 1× Power adapter input (DC-in)

Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) Bluetooth 5.1/5.2 (by configuration) Thunderbolt 4 Gigabit Ethernet No card reader

Battery, build & more

Battery & charging

4-cell 76 Whr battery on both generations with a barrel adapter up to 200W depending on GPU tier. Both support 100W USB-C charging for travel, and the 2022 model adds fast charging to 50% in about 30 minutes.

Camera & mic

Generation split: 2021 models have no built-in webcam at all — a missing camera on an FX516 is normal, not a defect. 2022 models added a 720p HD webcam above the display. Both include an array microphone.

Keyboard

Backlit chiclet keyboard with dedicated hotkeys for volume, mic mute, and fan modes. 2021 units use single-zone mint-green/white backlighting; 2022 units use single-zone RGB controlled through Armoury Crate.

Build & cooling

MIL-STD-810H tested chassis at 19.9mm thin. Dual-fan cooling with anti-dust tunnels; the 2022 model upgraded to 84-blade Arc Flow fans. Performance profiles (Silent, Performance, Turbo) are managed in Armoury Crate.

Weight

≈ 2.0 kg (4.41 lb) on both generations.

Dimensions & finish

360 × 252 × 19.9 mm (14.2" × 9.9" × 0.78"). Finishes: Eclipse Gray or Moonlight White (2021), Off Black or Moonlight White (2022).

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I find out which TUF Dash F15 I have?
Flip the laptop over and find the label on the bottom panel. The code starts with FX516 (2021) or FX517 (2022), and the letters right after tell you the graphics chip — for example, FX517ZM means a 2022 unit with an RTX 3060. No sticker? Press the Windows key, type "System Information," and read the System Model line — the same code appears there. Our ASUS model number guide walks through it with screenshots if you'd like a visual guide.
02 My sticker says FX506 or FX507 — isn't that also a TUF F15?
It's a TUF F15, but not a TUF Dash F15 — the FX506 and FX507 belong to the standard TUF Gaming F15 line, which is thicker, uses different processors, and carries a different resale value. The same goes for FA506/FA507 codes, which are the AMD-powered TUF Gaming A15. Quoting under the wrong series produces an offer that won't match your laptop at inspection. If your code isn't FX516 or FX517, head to our ASUS sell page and pick the series that matches your sticker.
03 Can I sell a TUF Dash F15 with a weak battery, scratches, or other issues?
Yes. We buy TUF Dash units in every working state — a battery that drains quickly, noisy fans, worn key legends, dents or scratches on the lid, dead backlight zones, or even a cracked screen. Answer the condition questions honestly in the quote tool above and the offer adjusts automatically, so the price you lock in is the price you're paid after inspection — no surprises on either side.
04 How does the online trade-in process actually work?
Many people don't realize trading in a gaming laptop online is even an option — it's much simpler than marketplace listings, lowball messages, and meetups with strangers. Lock in a quote with the tool above, and we email you a free, fully insured shipping label. Box the laptop up, drop it off, and once it passes inspection at our lab you're paid within two business days via PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, or a mailed check. The full walkthrough lives on our How It Works page, and our guide to selling a gaming laptop covers how to prep your machine for the best payout.
05 Should I wipe my data or remove the SSD before shipping?
Back up anything you want to keep — game saves, photos, documents — to the cloud or an external drive, and sign out of your Windows, Steam, and other accounts. Please leave the M.2 drive(s) installed: pulling the boot drive leaves the laptop unbootable and reduces its value. Our technicians run certified data sanitization on every incoming drive, so nothing personal survives the process. You can read exactly how we handle it on our data erasure protocols page.
