The Dell XPS 13 7390 is a 2020 ultraportable built around Intel's 10th Gen Comet Lake processors, aimed at people who wanted a small, well-made Windows laptop for work and everyday use without the bulk of a larger notebook. It sits in Dell's XPS lineup alongside the more commonly numbered 9000-series models, but shares the same InfinityEdge design language and machined aluminum chassis. Ten years on from the original XPS 13, this generation still holds resale value because the build quality is solid, the display options are good, and 10th Gen Intel chips remain capable for browsing, office work, and light multitasking. Pick your processor, display type, and condition in the picker above for an instant cash offer, or read on to confirm you have the right machine before you sell your laptop. Confirm you have the XPS 13 7390

The fastest way to confirm your exact build is through Windows itself. Go to Settings → System → About to see the processor listed, or press Windows key + R and type dxdiag to pull up full system information including RAM and graphics. Dell also ties every unit to a Service Tag, printed on the underside sticker, which you can enter on Dell's support site to pull the exact factory configuration, including whether your unit shipped with a touch or non-touch display.

Core i5 10th Gen build

  • Intel Core i5 10th Gen (Comet Lake U-series) processor
  • Paired with either a non-touch or touchscreen display
  • Confirm via dxdiag or Settings → System → About

Core i7 10th Gen build

  • Intel Core i7 10th Gen (Comet Lake U-series) processor
  • Paired with either a non-touch or touchscreen display
  • Higher clock speeds than the i5 build, same chassis and ports

Prefer a visual check? The 7390 has a webcam positioned above the display, not below it, which distinguishes it from the earlier XPS 13 9370 and 9380. It also uses two Thunderbolt 3 ports on the left side and a microSD reader plus headphone jack on the right, with no USB-A ports anywhere on the body.

Core hardware configurations

Processor

  • Intel Core i5 10th Gen (Comet Lake U-series)
  • Intel Core i7 10th Gen (Comet Lake U-series)
  • The i7 build commands a stronger resale price than the i5

Graphics

  • Integrated Intel UHD Graphics
  • No discrete GPU option on this model

Memory

  • LPDDR3 memory, soldered to the board at the factory
  • Not upgradable after purchase

Storage

  • M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD in a single internal slot
  • Higher-capacity SSDs raise resale value more than the processor jump does

Display & audio

Display

13.3-inch InfinityEdge panel, offered as either a non-touch matte display or a glossy touchscreen. Bezels are thin on all four sides, which was one of the XPS line's signature traits at the time.

Audio

Stereo speakers flank the keyboard, tuned with Waves MaxxAudio software. Fine for calls and casual listening, though the small chassis limits low-end output.

Security

A fingerprint reader is built into the power button for Windows Hello sign-in. The webcam above the display supports Windows Hello face login on select configurations.

Ports & connectivity

The 7390 keeps its port count minimal in favor of the thin chassis, which means most users will lean on a USB-C hub for legacy peripherals.

Left side
  • Two Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports
  • Wedge-shaped power connector doubles as one of the Thunderbolt ports
Right side
  • MicroSD card reader
  • 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack

Thunderbolt 3 InfinityEdge display Fingerprint power button Backlit keyboard MicroSD reader Wi-Fi 6 Bluetooth 5.0

Battery, build & more

Battery

A 52Whr battery is built into the chassis and is not user-replaceable. Battery health is one of the first things a buyback grading process checks, since cell wear directly affects usable life for the next owner.

Dimensions & weight

Compact even by ultraportable standards, at roughly 2.7 pounds. The small footprint is part of why the XPS 13 line stayed popular for travel and daily commuting.

Finishes

Available in Platinum Silver with a black carbon fiber palm rest, or Frost White with a woven glass fiber palm rest. Finish does not affect internal specs.

Software

Shipped with Windows 10 and can be upgraded to Windows 11 if the processor and TPM meet Microsoft's requirements, which most 10th Gen Core i5 and i7 units do.

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I find the model number or exact configuration?
Check the sticker on the underside of the laptop for the model name and Service Tag, then enter that Service Tag on Dell's support site for the full factory build sheet. Inside Windows, press Windows key + R, type dxdiag, and press Enter to see the processor, installed memory, and graphics listed directly. Settings → System → About also shows the processor and RAM if you just need a quick check without opening dxdiag.
02 How do I tell it apart from the XPS 13 9300?
The 9300, also released in 2020, uses a redesigned chassis with a larger touchpad and a different keyboard layout, and it offers 10th Gen Ice Lake processors rather than the Comet Lake chips in the 7390. If dxdiag lists an Ice Lake-generation Core i5 or i7 (model numbers ending in G1, G4, or G7), you have a 9300, not a 7390. The Service Tag lookup on Dell's site is the most reliable way to confirm either way.
03 Can I sell it with damage, a weak battery, or a locked account?
Yes, in most cases. A cracked screen, a battery that no longer holds a full charge, or a unit that won't power on can still be sold, and the quote adjusts to reflect the condition you select above. What you cannot ship is a laptop still signed into a Microsoft account with device lock enabled, since that prevents testing and resale. Remove your Microsoft account and any BitLocker lock before shipping, and describe the damage accurately when you select your condition.
04 What raises the trade-in value the most?
Cosmetic condition and a healthy battery matter most, followed by whether the original charger is included. A screen free of scratches or dead pixels, hinges that hold their position, and a battery that still holds a reasonable charge all push a unit toward the higher condition tiers. The i7 configuration and touchscreen display also grade slightly higher than the i5 non-touch base build, since they were the more expensive original configuration.
05 How do I erase it and remove my accounts, and how do I get paid?
Go to Settings → System → Recovery → Reset this PC and choose to remove everything, then confirm the reset when prompted. Before resetting, sign out of and remove the laptop from your Microsoft account under Settings → Accounts, and suspend or decrypt BitLocker if it is enabled under Settings → Privacy & Security → Device encryption. Once the reset finishes and the account is unlinked, ship the laptop to us using the free, insured shipping label we provide. After we test the unit against the condition you selected, you get paid by PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, or check. Full erasure steps are also outlined in our data erasure protocols.
