The Dell XPS 14 is Dell's 14-inch premium ultrabook, and this page covers every generation from its 2024 revival through the present — including the year Dell dropped the XPS name entirely. Three configurations are covered: the XPS 14 9440 (2024), the Dell 14 Premium DA14250 (2025), and the XPS 14 DA14260 (2026), which brought the XPS badge back. All three are 16:10 CNC-milled aluminum laptops with three USB-C Thunderbolt ports and a choice between a matte, non-touch IPS panel and a glossy OLED touchscreen, but the processors, graphics, and even the screen size changed across the run, so the options you pick above set your payout.

Generations, model numbers & the name change

Dell renamed this laptop twice in three years, which is the single biggest source of confusion on this model. Match the number on your machine, not the name on the lid.

Dell XPS 14 9440 — 2024

  • Model number: 9440 · Release year: 2024
  • Processor family: Intel Core Ultra Series 1 ("Meteor Lake") — Core Ultra 7 155H or 165H
  • Graphics: Intel Arc integrated or NVIDIA RTX 4050
  • Display: 14.5-inch — FHD+ non-touch IPS or 3.2K OLED touch
  • Wi-Fi 6E · Intel Evo certified · microSD card reader
  • Colors: Platinum or Graphite

Dell 14 Premium DA14250 — 2025

  • Model number: DA14250 · Release year: 2025
  • Processor family: Intel Core Ultra Series 2 ("Arrow Lake-H") — Core Ultra 7 255H or 265H
  • Graphics: Intel Arc 140T integrated or NVIDIA RTX 4050
  • Display: 14.5-inch — 2K non-touch IPS or 3.2K OLED touch
  • Wi-Fi 7 · microSD card reader
  • This is the year Dell dropped the "XPS" name. Same laptop lineage, different badge.

Dell XPS 14 DA14260 — 2026

  • Model number: DA14260 · Release year: 2026
  • Processor family: Intel Core Ultra Series 3 ("Panther Lake") — Core Ultra 5 325, Core Ultra 7 355, Core Ultra X7 358H, or Core Ultra X9 388H
  • Graphics: integrated only — Intel Arc B390 on the X-series chips, Intel Graphics on the others. No NVIDIA option.
  • Display: 14.0-inch — smaller than the two before it — 1920 × 1200 non-touch matte or 2880 × 1800 OLED touch
  • Wi-Fi 7 · Bluetooth 6 · no microSD card reader (dropped this year)
  • XPS branding returned. The XPS logo is now on the lid and the Dell logo is on the bottom — reversed from 2025.

Finding your model number

  • Every Dell has a Service Tag, a 7-character code of letters and numbers printed on a label on the underside of the laptop.
  • You can also read it on screen: press Windows key + R, type cmd, press Enter, then type wmic bios get serialnumber and press Enter.
  • Entering that Service Tag at Dell's support site brings up your exact configuration — processor, memory, storage, and display — with no guessing.
  • The underside label also carries the regulatory model (for example, P169G on the 9440), which isn't the same as the marketing name.

Core hardware by generation

Processor (CPU)

  • Series 1 — 9440 (2024): Core Ultra 7 155H (16 cores, up to 4.80 GHz, 24MB cache) or Core Ultra 7 165H (16 cores, up to 5.0 GHz, 24MB cache). No Core Ultra 5 and no Core Ultra 9 were offered on the 14-inch — the Ultra 9 was exclusive to the XPS 16.
  • Series 2 — DA14250 (2025): Core Ultra 7 255H (16 cores, up to 5.1 GHz) or Core Ultra 7 265H
  • Series 3 — DA14260 (2026): Core Ultra 5 325, Core Ultra 7 355, Core Ultra X7 358H (16 cores, up to 4.8 GHz), or Core Ultra X9 388H (16 cores, up to 5.1 GHz)
  • The "X" prefix matters on Series 3: X-series chips carry the far more capable Intel Arc B390 graphics, non-X chips carry basic Intel Graphics. It's a real value difference.

Graphics (GPU)

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 — 6GB GDDR6, 30W, offered on the 2024 and 2025 models only
  • 2024 integrated: Intel Arc Graphics
  • 2025 integrated: Intel Arc Graphics 140T
  • 2026 integrated: Intel Arc B390 (12 Xe3 cores) on Core Ultra X7/X9, or Intel Graphics on Core Ultra 5/7
  • Worth knowing: independent testing found the 2026 model's integrated Arc B390 matches or beats the RTX 4050 in most games in the 2024 XPS 14 — so "integrated" on a 2026 unit isn't the low-end option it sounds like.

Memory (RAM)

  • LPDDR5x, soldered to the board on every generation — there are no slots and no upgrade path. Whatever your laptop shipped with is what it has permanently.
  • 9440 (2024): 16GB or 32GB at 6400 MT/s with Arc graphics; 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB at 7467 MT/s on RTX 4050 configurations
  • DA14250 (2025): 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB
  • DA14260 (2026): 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB at 9600 MT/s
  • Because memory can never be added, a 32GB or 64GB unit carries a permanent premium over a 16GB one.

Storage

  • A single M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe slot on every generation — there is no second drive bay
  • 9440 (2024): 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, or 4TB Gen 4 PCIe NVMe
  • DA14250 (2025): 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB
  • DA14260 (2026): 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB PCIe 4.0
  • Unlike memory, the SSD is replaceable, so aftermarket drives count. Report the capacity actually installed today.

Not sure which processor you have? Press Windows key + R, type msinfo32, press Enter, and read the Processor line. A number starting with 1 (155H, 165H) is Series 1 and a 2024 machine. Starting with 2 (255H, 265H) is Series 2 and a 2025 machine. Series 3 starts with 3 (325, 355, 358H, 388H) and is a 2026 release. Our processor identification guide walks through it with pictures.

Display & audio

The touch / non-touch rule

This one rule holds across all three generations and makes the display selector above easy: Dell only ever paired the touchscreen with the OLED panel.

Touchscreen = glossy OLED, the higher-resolution, wider-color, more expensive option.
Non-touch = matte IPS/LCD, the base option.

If you're not sure, tap the screen. If nothing happens, select Non-Touch. This family has no matte OLED and no glossy IPS.

Display options by generation

9440 (2024), 14.5-inch: FHD+ 1920 × 1200 IPS, non-touch, 500 nits, 100% sRGB, 30–120Hz dynamic; or 3.2K 3200 × 2000 OLED touch, 400 nits, 100% DCI-P3, 48–120Hz, 1ms.
DA14250 (2025), 14.5-inch: 2K non-touch IPS; or 3.2K 3200 × 2000 OLED touch, 120Hz (Samsung panel).
DA14260 (2026), 14.0-inch: 1920 × 1200 IPS non-touch matte, 500 nits, 100% sRGB, 1–120Hz; or 2880 × 1800 OLED touch glossy, 500 nits, 100% DCI-P3, 20–120Hz (LG panel).
All panels are InfinityEdge with Dolby Vision support.

OLED burn-in — check before you grade

If you have the touchscreen OLED, this is worth two minutes. Open a solid mid-gray image full screen in a dark room and look for a faint permanent ghost of a taskbar, browser chrome, or a dock. If you can see one, grade it under Defective Screen — we still buy it, but describing it accurately keeps your offer from being revised after inspection.

Audio & webcam

Quad-speaker systems across the line, tuned with MaxxAudio Pro and Waves Nx spatial audio. The 2026 model steps up to a louder 10W four-driver arrangement (3W × 2 plus 2W × 2) with no visible speaker grilles.

Webcam: the 2024 and 2025 models use a 1080p FHD RGB-IR camera with Windows Hello face unlock. The 2026 model jumps to an 8.3MP 4K HDR camera, also with Windows Hello. No generation has a physical privacy shutter.

Ports & connectivity

Every XPS 14 is USB-C only. That's deliberate, not a defect — and it's why the card reader is the fastest way to tell the 2026 model apart from the two before it.

2024 (9440) & 2025 (DA14250)
  • 3× USB-C Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 40Gbps, all with Power Delivery and DisplayPort
  • 1× microSD card reader
  • 1× 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack
  • Dell included a USB-C to USB-A adapter and a USB-C to HDMI 2.0 adapter in the box. If you still have them, mention it — they're commonly lost.
2026 (DA14260)
  • 3× USB-C Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort 2.1 and Power Delivery — two on the left, one on the right
  • 1× 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack
  • No card reader. Dell dropped the microSD slot this generation.
  • The 2026 model ships with the AC adapter and paperwork only — no dongles in the box.

Stated absences on every generation: no USB-A ports, no built-in HDMI, no Ethernet, no optical drive, no SD (full-size) card reader, no WWAN or cellular modem, and no user-upgradeable memory. The 2026 model also has no microSD reader, no camera privacy shutter, and no fingerprint-reader power button option—face unlock via the IR camera is the only biometric.

Battery, build & more

Battery & charger

9440 and DA14250: 69.5Wh, 6-cell.
DA14260: 70Wh.
Battery life improved dramatically in 2026 — independent testing measured roughly 55% longer runtime than the 2025 model and more than triple the 2024 model, thanks to the far more efficient Panther Lake platform.

Include the original charger. All three generations charge over USB-C Power Delivery, so a replacement is easier to source than a proprietary barrel adapter, but the offer still reflects whether it's included. Answer the "Charger Included?" question above honestly either way.

Keyboard & touchpad — a real generational split

2024 and 2025: zero-lattice backlit keyboard with a capacitive touch-sensitive function row instead of physical F keys, and a seamless glass haptic touchpad with no visible borders. Both were divisive design choices.

2026: Dell reversed both. The touch function row is gone, replaced by proper physical keys, and the clickpad now has subtle etched borders so you can see where it starts and ends. Key travel is 0.8mm.

If your top row is a flat glowing strip rather than real keys, you have a 2024 or 2025 machine.

Chassis & finish

CNC-milled aluminum with a Gorilla Glass palm rest across the line, in Platinum (silver) or Graphite (dark).

The 2026 redesign is visibly different: the front and side edges are now flat rather than tapered, giving a boxier profile closer to a MacBook Pro, and the chassis is stiffer despite being thinner. The matte aluminum shows fingerprints readily. Check the lid corners and front lip for dents — those drive the cosmetic grade.

Size & weight

9440 (2024): 320 × 216 × 19 mm, about 1.7–1.8 kg (3.8–4.0 lb)
DA14250 (2025): 320 × 216 × 18 mm, about 1.7 kg (3.8 lb)
DA14260 (2026): 309.5 × 209.7 × 14.6 mm, 1.44 kg (3.18 lb) — noticeably smaller and lighter, largely because the screen shrank from 14.5 to 14.0 inches

Servicing

On the 2024 and 2025 models, the bottom panel comes off for access. On the 2026 version, you reach the motherboard by removing the keyboard deck instead, which is a more involved procedure. Relevant if you've had repairs done or opened the machine yourself — mention any prior service when you describe condition.

Sustainability

The 2026 XPS 14 is built with 75% recycled aluminum in the top and bottom covers, 50% recycled cobalt in the battery, 90% recycled steel in the keycaps, and 100% recycled copper in parts of the circuit board, with fully recyclable plastic-free packaging.
