The Eluktronics MAG-15, released in late 2019, is an ultra-light 15.6-inch gaming laptop built on the Intel-designed “whitebook” reference chassis (internal model code BQC71B) — a magnesium-alloy machine that, at just 4.15 lb, was billed as the world's lightest 15.6-inch gaming laptop when it launched. It pairs a 9th-Gen Intel Core i7 with dedicated NVIDIA graphics, a genuine mechanical keyboard, a large 94 Whr battery, and Thunderbolt 3, all from a small US-based boutique brand that ships clean, bloatware-free systems. Because the MAG-15 was sold in several graphics, memory, and storage combinations — and because its RAM and SSD are user-upgradeable, so yours may differ from how it left the factory — your exact configuration decides its final resale price. If you're looking to sell your MAG-15, our gaming laptop trade-in page gives you a real cash offer — just pick your components using the tool above to see an instant quote for your exact device.

Core hardware configurations

Processor (CPU)

  • Intel Core i7-9750H — 6 cores, 12 threads, up to 4.5 GHz, 12MB cache (9th-Gen “Coffee Lake”)
  • This was the single processor option across all MAG-15 units

Graphics (GPU)

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti — 6GB GDDR6
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q — 8GB GDDR6
  • Dedicated NVIDIA graphics only (no integrated-only configuration was sold at retail)

Memory (RAM)

  • DDR4-2666 memory, factory-configured with 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB
  • Two SO-DIMM slots — user-upgradeable, so your MAG-15 may hold more (or less) than it originally shipped with

Storage

  • M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive (up to 2TB per drive)
  • Two M.2 slots (one often shipped empty) — user-upgradeable, so drives may have been added or swapped

Make sure it's a MAG-15 (and not a look-alike twin)

The MAG-15 is a “white-label” laptop: Intel designed one chassis and several small brands sold it under their own names with different logos and software. They're physically near-identical, so a quick check before you request a quote saves you from picking the wrong product. The two cards below cover the model you're on this page for and the ones it's most often confused with.

This model — Eluktronics MAG-15

Look for the Eluktronics name and a small “MAG-15” marking. The giveaway hardware combo is a 9th-Gen Core i7-9750H, a genuine mechanical RGB keyboard, an RGB light bar along the front edge, and a magnesium body weighing about 4.15 lb. The internal/regulatory model code is BQC71B.

Not this one — the identical twins

The same Intel chassis was also sold as the Schenker / XMG Fusion 15 (Europe), MAINGEAR Element (US), XPG Xenia 15, and Vapor 15 (Australia). If the logo on the lid or the name on the sticker says any of those instead of Eluktronics, please choose that brand when you get your quote — not this page.

Where to look: the exact name and model code are on the silver/black regulatory sticker on the bottom cover of the laptop. You can also open the Windows Start menu, type “System Information,” and read the System Model line. For a walkthrough with pictures, see our guide to finding your laptop's model number.

Display & audio

Display

A 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 × 1080) IPS panel with a matte anti-glare finish, a narrow-bezel design, and a fast 144Hz refresh rate — well suited to fast-paced gaming.

Audio

Stereo speakers driven by Realtek High Definition Audio, plus dual digital microphones paired with the IR webcam.

Ports & connectivity

A generous port selection for a laptop this thin, with several connectors routed to the rear to keep cables out of the way. Important: the MAG-15 charges only through its included 230 W barrel adapter — you cannot charge it over the Thunderbolt / USB-C port.

Rear & Left Side
  • 1× Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) (data and DisplayPort; does not charge the laptop)
  • 1× HDMI 2.0b
  • 1× Gigabit Ethernet (RJ-45)
  • 1× DC-in (230 W barrel power connector)
Right Side & Extras
  • 1× USB-A 3.1 Gen 2

Camera & sign-in

IR webcam with Windows Hello face sign-in and dual digital microphones.

Keyboard & input

A full-size mechanical per-key RGB keyboard (NKRO, anti-ghosting, 2.0mm travel) — a rare feature in a thin gaming laptop — plus a glass Microsoft Precision touchpad and a customizable RGB front light bar.

Build & design

Full magnesium-alloy construction (lid, chassis, and bottom cover) in a low-key matte finish, tuned by Eluktronics with a clean, bloatware-free Windows install.

Weight

≈ 1.88 kg (4.15 lb).

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I confirm my laptop is an Eluktronics MAG-15?
Flip the laptop over and read the sticker on the bottom cover: you're looking for the Eluktronics name and “MAG-15” (internal code BQC71B). You can also open the Windows Start menu, type “System Information,” and check the System Model line. In person, the easy tells are the magnesium body at about 4.15 lb, the clicky mechanical keyboard, and the RGB light bar across the front edge. If the lid or sticker shows a different brand (XMG Fusion 15, MAINGEAR Element, XPG Xenia 15, or Vapor 15), see the next question — those are the same chassis under a different name. Our model-number guide shows exactly where to look.
02 My laptop looks the same but has a different name (or it's a MAX-15 / MECH-15) — what do I do?
This is the most common mix-up, so it's worth a moment. The MAG-15 shares its exact chassis with several rebranded twins — the Schenker / XMG Fusion 15, MAINGEAR Element, XPG Xenia 15, and Vapor 15 — because Intel designed one laptop and each brand sold it with its own logo and software. They're so similar the BIOS is even cross-compatible, but they're priced and quoted separately, so please pick the brand printed on your machine. Also note two different Eluktronics models: the MAX-15 is a later (2020–2021) refresh with a newer 10th-Gen Core i7-10875H and RTX 2070/2080 Super graphics, and the MECH-15 is a separate line built on a different (Tongfang) chassis. If your sticker says MAX-15 or MECH-15 rather than MAG-15, choose that model when you request your quote so your offer is accurate.
03 Can I sell a MAG-15 that has wear, upgraded parts, or hardware issues?
Yes. We buy these in every working condition. Whether yours is like-new, has scuffs on the magnesium lid, loud or worn fans, a battery that no longer holds a charge, or a cracked screen, just set the matching condition options above and your quote updates to a firm cash value. Because the MAG-15's RAM and SSD are user-upgradeable, it's completely fine if yours has been changed from the factory build — just select the memory and storage that are actually installed now so your offer reflects the real hardware.
04 How does the trade-in process work? (Many people don't realize this is an option.)
A lot of people don't realize you can sell a boutique gaming laptop like this directly for cash instead of letting it sit unused or wrestling with buyers on a marketplace. Here's how it works: choose your configuration and condition above to get an instant quote; if you accept it, we email you a free, fully insured prepaid shipping label. Pack up your MAG-15, drop it off, and once it arrives and our team confirms the configuration and condition, your payment is approved — usually within about two business days. You can get paid by PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or CashApp, or by a mailed check. Want to read more first? Our step-by-step guide to selling a used laptop online and our post on where and how to sell a gaming laptop walk through it. You can also browse all the gaming laptops we buy or all PC laptops.
05 Should I wipe my data or remove the SSD before shipping?
Back up anything you want to keep — personal files and game saves — to an external drive or the cloud, then sign out of your Microsoft account and do a factory reset (Windows Settings → Update & Security / System → Recovery → Reset this PC) before you ship. You do not need to open the laptop or pull the M.2 SSD(s) yourself — our team runs certified, multi-pass data sanitization on every drive we receive. If your MAG-15 has two drives installed, both are wiped. You can read exactly how we handle it on our data erasure protocols page.
