The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 is Lenovo's mainstream thin-and-light line, and this page covers four generations of it — Gen 8 through Gen 11, spanning 2023 to 2026, in 13, 14, 15.3, and 16-inch sizes, on both AMD and Intel platforms plus a Qualcomm Snapdragon variant. That's a wide family, and Lenovo reuses the "IdeaPad Slim 5" name across all of it, so the chassis code printed on your laptop matters far more than the name on the lid. Everything you need to identify yours is below.

The Gadget Salvation online buyback platform currently accepts IdeaPad Slim 5 Generations 8 through 11. If you have a newer model or believe we are missing your specific configuration, please contact us for an updated valuation. We've been buying pre-owned consumer electronics outright since 2008. Our customers don't have to create a listing, wait for the right buyer, or cover any seller fees. We handle all that hassle. Simply pick your specific IdeaPad laptop model, specify its processor and condition in the calculator, and get an instant cash offer. Then check out, ship the computer for free, and receive the funds within 2 days of delivery!

How to identify your IdeaPad Slim 5

You don't need to know anything technical. Two minutes with either of these will get you the right answer, and the processor is the single most useful thing to find.

Method 1 — flip the laptop over

  • Close the lid and turn the laptop upside down.
  • Read the printed label near the hinge. You're looking for a product name like "IdeaPad Slim 5 14ABR8" or "IdeaPad Slim 5 16AHP10".
  • Next to it is a short machine type — four characters starting with 8, such as 82XE or 83DC.
  • Nearby you'll also see a longer model number in the same family (for example, 82XE0035US).
  • The chassis code tells you everything: the number is the screen size, the letters are the platform, and the last digit is the generation. 14ABR8 = 14-inch, AMD, Gen 8.

Method 2 — check it in Windows

  • Hold the Windows key and press R. A small box opens in the corner of the screen.
  • Type msinfo32 and press Enter.
  • Read the System Model line — it shows your machine type and chassis code.
  • Read the Processor line directly below it. This is the value the quote tool above asks for, and it's the fastest way to pin down your generation.
  • More help: our laptop model number guide and processor identification guide.

Reading the chassis code

  • First number = screen size. 13, 14, 15, or 16.
  • Letters = platform. A at the start means AMD, I means Intel, Q means Qualcomm Snapdragon.
  • Last digit = generation. 8 = 2023, 9 = 2024, 10 = 2025, 11 = 2026.
  • Example: 16AHP9 is a 16-inch AMD Gen 9 from 2024. 14IMH9 is a 14-inch Intel Gen 9.

Answering the touchscreen question

  • Just tap the screen with your finger. If something responds, select Yes. If nothing happens, select No.
  • Touch was never offered on every configuration, so a non-touch panel is not a fault — it's simply the more common build.
  • Nearly all IdeaPad Slim 5 OLED panels are non-touch, so an OLED screen does not automatically mean touch.

Generations & chassis codes

Match your processor to the generation below. Every one of these is an IdeaPad Slim 5 and belongs on this page.

Gen 8 — 2023

  • 14ABR8 (machine type 82XE) and 16ABR8 (82XG) — AMD Ryzen 3 7330U, Ryzen 5 7430U, Ryzen 5 7530U, or Ryzen 7 7730U
  • 14IRL8 (82XD) and 16IRL8 (82XF) — Intel 13th Gen Core i5-1335U or Core i7-1355U in the U.S.; P-series and H-series versions were sold in other regions
  • Marketed as "IdeaPad Slim 5" on AMD and "IdeaPad Slim 5i" on Intel — the "i" suffix simply means Intel
  • First generation to move to a 16:10 display and DDR4 or LPDDR5 soldered memory

Gen 9 — 2024

  • 14IMH9 and 16IMH9 — Intel Core Ultra 5 125H or Core Ultra 7 155H (Meteor Lake)
  • 14AHP9 and 16AHP9 — AMD Ryzen 5 8645HS or Ryzen 7 8845HS
  • 15IRU9 — the 15.3-inch Intel model, Core 5 120U or Core 7 150U, 57Wh battery, about 1.7 kg
  • 14Q8X9 — the Snapdragon X Plus model, sold as IdeaPad Slim 5x. 14-inch OLED, 45 TOPS NPU, 16.9 mm thick, 57Wh battery. Pick this if the selector's Snapdragon option matches your laptop.

Gen 10 — 2025

  • 13ARP10 — the 13.3-inch model, AMD Ryzen 7000 series, roughly 1.15 kg, 54.7Wh battery, up to 16GB LPDDR5X-6400. The lightest machine on this page.
  • 15ARP10 — the 15.3-inch model, AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS and similar, up to 32GB LPDDR5X-6400, 70Wh battery, about 1.49 kg
  • 14AKP10 — 14-inch, AMD Ryzen AI 5 340 or Ryzen AI 7 350 with Radeon 860M graphics, about 1.39 kg
  • 16AHP10 — 16-inch AMD
  • Intel Gen 10 configurations used Core Ultra 5 226V / Core Ultra 7 256V (Lunar Lake) or Core 5 210H / Core 7 240H

Gen 11 — 2026

  • 16IPH11 — Intel Core Ultra 5 322 or Core Ultra 7 355 (Panther Lake).
  • 16AGP11 — AMD Ryzen AI 5 430, Ryzen AI 7 445, or Ryzen AI 7 450 (Gorgon Point).
  • 16.9 mm thick, with 1200p IPS, 1200p OLED, or 2.8K OLED panel options and 120Hz on select configurations

Screen sizes — which one do I have?

13-inch

Only one machine in this family is 13-inch: the IdeaPad Slim 5 13ARP10 from Gen 10 (2025). It's AMD only — there was no Intel or Snapdragon 13-inch IdeaPad Slim 5. At roughly 1.15 kg it's noticeably lighter than everything else here, which is the easiest way to recognize it without measuring.

14-inch

The most common size and the widest spread of options: 14ABR8 and 14IRL8 (Gen 8), 14IMH9 and 14AHP9 (Gen 9), 14Q8X9 Snapdragon (Gen 9), and 14AKP10 (Gen 10). This is also the only size where the Snapdragon X Plus was offered.

15.3-inch

An unusual size Lenovo used for a short window: the 15IRU9 (Gen 9, Intel) and the 15ARP10 (Gen 10, AMD). Both are 1920 × 1200 16:10. If you measure the screen diagonally and get about 15.3 rather than 15.6 inches, this is what you have — and it is not the same as a 15.6-inch IdeaPad Slim 3.

16-inch

Available in every generation: 16ABR8 and 16IRL8 (Gen 8), 16IMH9 and 16AHP9 (Gen 9), 16AHP10 (Gen 10), and 16IPH11 and 16AGP11 (Gen 11). The 16-inch models carry the largest batteries and, from Gen 8 onward, the higher-resolution 2560 × 1600 IPS option.

Models that are not the IdeaPad Slim 5

Lenovo's IdeaPad range is large, and several lines look nearly identical from across a room. Quoting the wrong one just means the offer gets revised after inspection, so it's worth thirty seconds to check.

❌ IdeaPad Slim 3 / Slim 3i

The tier below, and by far the most common mix-up. The Slim 3 uses the same silver-grey styling and similar chassis codes — 15IRH10 and 15IRH10R are Slim 3 models, not Slim 5. Check the underside label: it will say "IdeaPad Slim 3", not "Slim 5". The Slim 3 is worth meaningfully less.

❌ IdeaPad Slim 5i Ultra

A separate 14-inch line Lenovo introduced in 2026. Despite the shared "Slim 5i" wording, it's a different product with different internals. If your label reads "Slim 5i Ultra", request a custom quote rather than using this page.

❌ IdeaPad Slim 5x

This one is covered here — the Snapdragon-powered 14Q8X9 is branded "IdeaPad Slim 5x" on the box but is part of the Gen 9 Slim 5 family. Select the Snapdragon X Plus processor option above.

❌ IdeaPad Pro 5, Yoga Slim, and Legion Slim 5

IdeaPad Pro 5 is a higher tier with more powerful H-series chips and often discrete graphics. Yoga Slim is a separate premium line. Legion Slim 5 is a gaming laptop with NVIDIA RTX graphics — a completely different computer, much higher value. All three are quoted elsewhere; see all Lenovo laptops or use our model finder.

Core hardware

Processors by generation

  • AMD Ryzen 7000 series (Gen 8): Ryzen 3 7330U, Ryzen 5 7430U, Ryzen 5 7530U, Ryzen 7 7730U — 4 to 8 cores, up to 4.5 GHz, Radeon integrated graphics
  • AMD Ryzen 7000 series (Gen 10, 13″ and 15.3″): Ryzen 7 7735HS and related 7035-series chips
  • AMD Ryzen 8000 series (Gen 9): Ryzen 5 8645HS, Ryzen 7 8845HS
  • AMD Ryzen AI (Gen 10): Ryzen AI 5 340, Ryzen AI 7 350 with Radeon 860M
  • Intel 13th Gen (Gen 8): Core i5-1335U, Core i7-1355U
  • Intel Core Ultra Series 1 (Gen 9): Core Ultra 5 125H, Core Ultra 7 155H
  • Intel Core Ultra Series 2 (Gen 10): Core Ultra 5 226V, Core Ultra 7 256V
  • Intel Core H-series (Gen 10): Core 5 210H, Core 7 240H
  • Qualcomm (Gen 9): Snapdragon X Plus, 8 cores, 45 TOPS NPU

Graphics

  • Integrated only across the entire IdeaPad Slim 5 line — no generation, size, or configuration was offered with a discrete NVIDIA or AMD graphics card
  • AMD models: Radeon Graphics, Radeon 780M, or Radeon 860M depending on generation
  • Intel models: Intel Iris Xe, Intel Arc Graphics, or Intel UHD Graphics depending on the chip
  • Snapdragon models: Qualcomm Adreno
  • If your laptop has an NVIDIA GeForce sticker or an "RTX" badge, it's not an IdeaPad Slim 5.

Memory (RAM)

  • Soldered to the board on every generation — no slots, no upgrade path, ever. This is the single most important thing to know about this model's value.
  • Gen 8: 8GB or 16GB DDR4-3200 on AMD models. 8GB models run single-channel; 16GB models run dual-channel, which is a real performance and value difference.
  • Gen 9 and 10: LPDDR5 or LPDDR5X, typically 16GB, rising to 32GB on the larger 15.3-inch and 16-inch builds
  • Because memory can never be added, a 16GB or 32GB unit carries a permanent premium over an 8GB one, and that gap widens as software demands grow.

Storage

  • A single M.2 slot on every model — there is no second drive bay anywhere in this family
  • Gen 8: one M.2 2280 PCIe slot, factory drives of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB. Note that many Gen 8 units shipped with a short M.2 2242 drive in the full-length 2280 slot, and the slot runs closer to PCIe 3.0 speeds despite the drive being PCIe 4.0 rated.
  • Later generations: M.2 2242 or 2280 PCIe NVMe, up to 1TB from the factory
  • Unlike memory, the SSD is replaceable. Aftermarket drives count toward your offer — report the capacity installed today, not what it shipped with.

Display, audio & camera

Display options

Every IdeaPad Slim 5 uses a 16:10 panel. The options that matter for value:

14-inch (Gen 8): WUXGA 1920 × 1200 IPS, 300 nits, 45% NTSC · WUXGA OLED, 400 nits, 100% DCI-P3, DisplayHDR True Black 500 · 2.2K 2240 × 1400 IPS, 300 nits, 100% sRGB
16-inch (Gen 8): WUXGA 1920 × 1200 IPS, 300 nits, 45% NTSC · 2.5K 2560 × 1600 IPS, 350 nits, 100% sRGB
15.3-inch (Gen 10): WUXGA IPS at 300 nits, or 2560 × 1600 OLED at 500 nits and 165Hz — the highest-spec panel in the family
16-inch (Gen 11): 1200p IPS, 1200p OLED, or 2.8K OLED, with 120Hz on select builds

All panels carry TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light and Flicker Free certification.

OLED — worth checking before you grade

If you have an OLED panel, spend two minutes on this. Open a solid mid-gray image full screen in a dark room and look for a faint permanent ghost of the taskbar, a browser bar, or a dock. If you can see one, mark Defective Screen above. We still buy it—describing it accurately keeps your offer from being revised after inspection.

Audio

Stereo speakers rated 2W × 2, tuned with Dolby Audio, paired with a dual-microphone array on a High Definition Audio codec. There is no subwoofer and no quad-speaker option anywhere in this line.

Camera & biometrics

FHD 1080p camera with an infrared sensor for Windows Hello face unlock, a physical privacy shutter, and on many models a time-of-flight sensor for presence detection and automatic lock. A touch-style fingerprint reader on the palm rest was optional — some units have one, some don't, and its absence is not a defect.

Earlier, lower-cost configurations shipped with a 720p camera instead, so check yours before assuming.

Ports & connectivity

The port layout is broadly consistent across generations, which is one of the things that makes this line easy to live with. The list below reflects the Gen 8 chassis; later generations added faster USB-C and newer HDMI but kept the same arrangement.

Left side
  • 2× USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 — data, Power Delivery 3.0, and DisplayPort 1.4
  • 1× HDMI — HDMI 1.4b on Gen 8, HDMI 2.1 on later generations
  • 1× 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack
  • Gen 10 and Gen 11 models upgraded the USB-C ports to 10Gbps with 45–65W USB PD charging.
Right side
  • 1× USB-A 3.2 Gen 1
  • 1× USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 (Always On charging) — will charge a phone while the laptop is asleep
  • 1× microSD card reader
  • Supports up to 3 displays total: the built-in panel plus 2 external monitors via HDMI and USB-C

Stated absences across the line: no Thunderbolt on any model — the USB-C ports are USB 3.2 or USB 10Gbps, never Thunderbolt 3 or 4. No Ethernet (RJ-45) port, no full-size SD card reader (microSD only), no optical drive, no WWAN or cellular modem, and no discrete graphics. Firmware TPM 2.0 is integrated on every model.

Wi-Fi 6 / 6E (Gen 8–9), Wi-Fi 7 (Gen 10–11), Bluetooth 5.2+, microSD reader, USB-C charging. No Thunderbolt. No Ethernet. Integrated graphics only

Battery, build & more

Battery & charger

Battery size tracks screen size closely:
13-inch (13ARP10): 54.7Wh · 14-inch (Gen 8): 47Wh or 56.6Wh · 14-inch Snapdragon (14Q8X9): 57Wh · 15.3-inch (15IRU9): 57Wh · 15.3-inch (15ARP10): 70Wh

Most models support Rapid Charge Boost — roughly two hours of runtime from a 15-minute charge, provided the laptop is shut down or hibernating.

Most models charge over USB-C with a 65W adapter (45–65W on Gen 10). That's genuinely good news if you've lost yours: a standard USB-C PD charger will work, so a missing adapter costs you far less here than on a laptop with a proprietary barrel plug. Still answer the "Charger Included?" question above honestly.

Chassis, colors & durability

Aluminum top cover with either a PC-ABS or an aluminum bottom, finished with anodized sandblasting. Gen 8 colors were Abyss Blue, Cloud Grey, and Violet; later generations added Luna Grey and similar finishes.

The whole line passes MIL-STD-810H military durability testing across 20 test items — which is part of why these hold up well as used machines, and why light scuffing is common but structural damage is rare. Check the lid corners and the front lip, since those drive the cosmetic grade.

Weight & dimensions

13ARP10: about 1.15 kg (2.54 lb)
14ABR8: from 1.46 kg (3.22 lb) · 312 × 221 × 16.9–17.9 mm
14AKP10: about 1.39 kg (3.06 lb)
15ARP10: about 1.49 kg (3.28 lb)
15IRU9: about 1.7 kg (3.75 lb) · 343.5 × 238.2 × 17.4 mm
Gen 11 16-inch: 16.9 mm thick

Keyboard & touchpad

6-row keyboard with multimedia function keys, offered with or without LED backlighting — backlit units are the better configuration and worth noting when you quote. Buttonless Mylar touchpad with Precision TouchPad support, 75 × 120 mm on the 14-inch models. The 15.3-inch and 16-inch models add a numeric keypad.

Condition issues we see often

Swollen battery lifting the touchpad or bottom panel — check "Defective Battery" when grading the laptop online.
Hinge wear or a cracked bezel on 16-inch models — mark it as "Poor" condition.
Failing keyboard backlight zones — mark "Defective Keyboard/Touchpad".
A USB-C port that no longer charges — with only two USB-C ports and no barrel jack, this is a real fault. Mark "Defective Hardware".
Refurbished units — check the "Refurbished device" box; we still buy them.

Before you ship

Back up your files, then reset Windows via Settings → System → Recovery → Reset this PC → Remove everything and choose the option to clean the drive. Sign out of your Microsoft account and remove any BIOS or hard-disk password. If the laptop came from a workplace or school, ask their IT team to release it from Intune, Autopilot, or MDM enrollment first, or it stays locked to their tenant.

You don't need to remove the SSD — every drive is wiped to certified standards regardless. See our data erasure protocols and shipping instructions.

What raises your IdeaPad Slim 5 trade-in value

In order of impact: generation first, since a Gen 10 or Gen 11 machine sits well above a Gen 8 even at similar configurations. Then memory — RAM is soldered on every model in this family and can never be upgraded, so a 16GB or 32GB unit carries a permanent premium an 8GB one can never close. After that, screen size and panel type (an OLED panel with no burn-in is the top tier, and the 15.3-inch 165Hz OLED is the best screen in the line), then SSD capacity, including a drive you fitted yourself, then cosmetic condition of the aluminum, then whether the backlit keyboard and fingerprint reader are present, and finally the charger.

Worth knowing if you've only ever sold on marketplaces: many people never realize a dedicated trade-in service exists for everyday laptops in this price bracket. You get a firm price up front, free insured shipping, certified data erasure, and payment within about two business days of delivery — with no listing fees, no payment-processor cut, no shipping disputes, and no strangers meeting you in a parking lot. Mid-range laptops also depreciate on a steep, steady curve rather than holding value in steps, so the month you decide to sell matters more than most people expect. For background, see our guides on selling a Lenovo laptop without getting lowballed, estimating what your laptop is worth, comparing laptop trade-in offers, and every laptop liquidation option compared.

Because the IdeaPad Slim 5 sells in volume to schools and businesses, we see these in batches. If you're clearing out a classroom, office, or one-to-one program, see the bulk selling page. Not sure how the process works? Start with how it works.
