The MSI Raider A18 HX is the AMD-powered version of MSI's 18-inch Raider gaming laptop, and it comes in two generations. The 2024 Raider A18 HX (A7V) reached US stores in late 2024. It pairs an AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D (or a Ryzen 9 7945HX on one model) with an NVIDIA RTX 4090 or RTX 4080 and an 18-inch QHD+ 240Hz screen. The 2025 Raider A18 HX (A9W) was shown at CES in January 2025. It moves up to the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D with an NVIDIA RTX 5090 or RTX 5080, and it adds USB4 and an optional 4K Mini LED display. Both generations share the same black chassis: 18 inches, about 7.9 lb, with a 99.9Wh battery. The printed model code (A7VIG, A7VHG, A9WJG, or A9WIG) tells us which one you have.

You can sell your Raider A18 HX online with Gadget Salvation without listing it on a marketplace, haggling, or worrying about returns or chargebacks. Simply choose your processor, graphics card, memory, and storage in the tool above to get an instant cash offer. Oh, and we'll even cover the shipping label costs!

Which Raider A18 HX generation do you have?

Flip the laptop over and find the white label. The model code reads Raider A18 HX A7V__-___US (2024) or Raider A18 HX A9W__-___US (2025). The two letters after "A7V" or "A9W" identify the graphics card.

Not tech-savvy? Try this: press the Windows key, type msinfo32, and press Enter. The System Information window shows three things you need:

  • System Model: your Raider A18 HX model code
  • Processor: "Ryzen 9 7945HX3D" or "7945HX" means 2024; "Ryzen 9 9955HX3D" means 2025
  • Installed Physical Memory (RAM): your memory

To see your graphics card, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, choose Performance, and click the NVIDIA GPU. Our laptop model number guide and processor type guide have pictures of each step. Some resellers shipped these laptops with extra RAM or SSDs, so go by what Windows reports, not the box.

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I identify my exact MSI Raider A18 HX model?
Look at the white sticker on the bottom of the laptop for a code like Raider A18 HX A7VIG-022US or Raider A18 HX A9WJG-052US.
  • A7V = 2024 (Ryzen 9 7945HX3D or 7945HX)
  • A9W = 2025 (Ryzen 9 9955HX3D)
The next two letters are the graphics card:
  • IG = RTX 4090 on 2024 models, or RTX 5080 on 2025 models
  • HG = RTX 4080
  • JG = RTX 5090
To check memory, press the Windows key, type msinfo32, press Enter, and read "Installed Physical Memory." To check storage, open Settings → System → Storage → Advanced storage settings → Disks & volumes. If your laptop has two SSDs, add their sizes together. Our laptop model number guide walks you through each step.
02 Is my laptop a Raider A18 HX or a similar-looking MSI model?
The "A" right after "Raider" matters: it stands for AMD. A Raider 18 HX without the "A" uses an Intel Core i9 or Core Ultra 9 processor. Although it looks identical, it's a different laptop with its own quote page. The Vector A18 HX is also a different laptop. It uses a Ryzen 9 9955HX without "3D" in the name; it offers an RTX 5070 Ti, and it comes in a gray chassis. A genuine Raider A18 HX always has one of these pairings:
  • Ryzen 9 7945HX3D or 7945HX with an RTX 4080 or RTX 4090
  • Ryzen 9 9955HX3D with an RTX 5080 or RTX 5090
If yours has any other processor or graphics card, it's a different model. In that case, request a custom quote and tell us exactly what the sticker on the bottom says.
03 Do you buy damaged, worn, or upgraded Raider A18 HX laptops?
Yes. We buy Raider A18 HX laptops in any condition, including cracked or flickering screens, worn-out or swollen batteries, loose hinges, dead keys, noisy fans, Wi-Fi dropouts, and units that won't turn on. Choose your cosmetic grade and functionality in the tool above to get an adjusted offer. Both generations have socketed RAM and two SSD slots, so upgraded units are common. Select what's installed now. If your RAM or total storage doesn't match an option above (for example, 96GB of memory, or 6TB to 8TB across two drives), request a custom quote. If you keep an SSD before shipping, note it so your offer stays accurate.
04 What increases my Raider A18 HX's trade-in value, and why sell to Gadget Salvation?
Many people don't realize the graphics card sets most of this laptop's resale price. RTX 5090 models are worth the most, followed by the RTX 4090 and RTX 5080, then the RTX 4080. After the GPU, the generation matters: 2025 models with the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D bring more than 2024 models. Beyond that, your offer goes up with:
  • The 4K Mini LED display
  • More RAM and total storage
  • A flawless screen and keyboard
  • The original 330W or 400W power adapter
Gadget Salvation has bought used electronics since 2008. You get an instant quote, a free prepaid and insured shipping label, and no seller fees. No marketplace listings to manage and no risk of chargebacks on a $3,000+ laptop. See how it works, visit our gaming laptop buyback page, or read our guide for first-time laptop sellers. Selling several machines at once? Try our bulk selling program.
05 How do I wipe and ship my Raider A18 HX, and how do I get paid?
Before you ship, follow these steps:
  • Back up your files and game saves.
  • Sign out of your Microsoft account, Steam, and other launchers.
  • Turn off Find my device in Settings → Privacy & security.
  • If BitLocker or Device Encryption is on, save your recovery key or turn encryption off.
  • Reset Windows under Settings → System → Recovery → Reset this PC → Remove everything.
If your employer or school manages the laptop, have IT release it from Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, or other device management first. You don't need to pull the SSDs, because every drive we receive goes through certified data erasure. See our data erasure protocols. Pack the laptop and its charger following our shipping instructions and use your free, insured label. After your laptop arrives and passes inspection, you'll be paid within 2 business days by PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, or a mailed check.
