The Razer Blade Stealth 12.5-inch is the original Razer ultrabook — the laptop that launched the Blade Stealth line at CES in January 2016 and went on to a refreshed early-2017 edition. Machined from a single block of aircraft-grade CNC aluminum at just 0.52 inches thin, it paired a low-power Intel Core processor and a stunning 12.5-inch touch display with Razer's signature Chroma keyboard, and it was built to connect to the external Razer Core graphics dock over Thunderbolt 3 for desktop-class gaming. Because Razer sold this ultrabook in a handful of different processor, memory, storage, and display combinations, your exact configuration determines its final resale value. Select your components using the tool above to view an instant cash offer for your device — and if you didn't know you could sell your Razer laptop for cash through a trade-in service like ours, this page will walk you through it.

Make sure you have the 12.5-inch Stealth (not the 13-inch)

This is the single most important thing to check before requesting a quote. Razer only made the Blade Stealth with a 12.5-inch screen for the 2016 and early-2017 models — every later Stealth moved to a bigger 13.3-inch (and eventually 13.4-inch) display, and those are different, more valuable machines. Every Razer laptop has a model number that starts with "RZ09-" printed on the sticker on the bottom of the chassis. Match yours against the list below:

The 12.5-inch models (this page)

  • RZ09-01682 — 2016 edition, 6th-gen Intel Core i7-6500U, 4K touch display
  • RZ09-01962 — early-2017 edition, 7th-gen Intel Core i5-7200U or i7-7500U, QHD or 4K touch display

NOT this page (13-inch models)

  • RZ09-0196x (late 2017) — 13.3-inch, 8th-gen Intel
  • RZ09-0239x (2017–2018) — 13.3-inch, 8th-gen Intel
  • RZ09-0281x / RZ09-0310x (2019–2020) — 13.3-inch redesign with GTX/dedicated graphics

Quick visual check: the 12.5-inch model has noticeably thicker black borders (bezels) around the screen and a glowing green Razer snake logo on the lid. If your Stealth has slim bezels or a dedicated NVIDIA graphics chip, you have a newer 13-inch model, not this one. Not sure where to find the RZ09 number? Display & audio

Display

A 12.5-inch IGZO touch display with wide viewing angles, offered in two resolutions: QHD (2560 × 1440) or a razor-sharp 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) panel with 100% Adobe RGB color coverage. The 2016 model (RZ09-01682) came only in 4K; the early-2017 model (RZ09-01962) added the QHD option. All versions are touchscreens. The 4K configuration is the more valuable of the two — select yours accurately in the tool above.

Audio

Built-in stereo speakers with a built-in array microphone for calls, plus a 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack.

Ports & connectivity

For such a thin ultrabook, the 12.5-inch Stealth carries a useful mix of ports, anchored by a single Thunderbolt 3 connection that handles charging, video, and the external Razer Core graphics dock.

Left Side
  • 1× Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) (handles charging, DisplayPort video out, and the external Razer Core eGPU at up to 40Gbps)
  • 1× USB-A 3.0
Right Side
  • 1× USB-A 3.0
  • 1× HDMI 2.0 (audio and video output)

Battery, build & more

Battery & charging

Built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery (roughly 45–53.6Wh depending on model) charged over USB-C with the compact power adapter. A battery that no longer holds much of a charge does not disqualify your laptop from a quote — just note it honestly in the condition options.

Camera & mic

Built-in 2.0MP HD webcam with an integrated array microphone for video calls.

Keyboard

Razer Chroma anti-ghosting keyboard with 16.8 million per-key color options, fully customizable through Razer Synapse software.

Build & weight

CNC-milled aircraft-grade aluminum unibody, just 0.52 inches thin and about 2.84 lb (1.29 kg) — extremely portable for its era.

Colors

Black with the classic green glowing Razer logo (some later 12.5-inch stock also appeared in gunmetal).

Operating system

Shipped with Windows 10 Home (64-bit).

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I confirm I have the 12.5-inch Blade Stealth and not a newer 13-inch one?
Flip the laptop over and look at the sticker on the bottom. You're looking for a model number that starts with "RZ09-". If it reads RZ09-01682 or RZ09-01962, you have the 12.5-inch model this page covers. Any other RZ09 number (like RZ09-0239x) is a 13-inch model. You can also check in Windows: press the Windows key, type "System Information", open it, and look at the "System Model" line. The easiest visual clue is the screen — the 12.5-inch model has thicker borders around the display and the glowing green Razer logo on the lid. Our Razer model-number guide shows you exactly where to look.
02 Which configuration options affect my Blade Stealth quote the most?
Because every 12.5-inch Stealth uses integrated Intel graphics, the biggest value drivers are the processor (an i7 is worth more than an i5), the amount of RAM (16GB over 8GB — and remember it's soldered, so it can't be changed later), the SSD capacity, and the display (the 4K panel commands more than the QHD one). If you still have the original Razer Core graphics dock, mention it — it can add value. To understand resale pricing in general, our guide on estimating your laptop's resale value is a good starting point.
03 Should I wipe my data or remove the SSD before shipping?
Back up anything you want to keep to an external drive or the cloud, then sign out of your Microsoft account and your Razer Synapse profile. You do not need to open the laptop or remove the M.2 SSD yourself — our team runs certified data sanitization on every drive we receive, so your personal information is fully erased. You can read exactly how we handle this on our data erasure protocols page.
04 Did you know you can trade in your Razer Blade Stealth for cash instead of selling it yourself?
A lot of people don't realize this is an option. Instead of listing your laptop on a marketplace and dealing with lowball offers, no-shows, and the risk of a chargeback, you can sell it directly to us for cash. The process is simple: pick your exact Blade Stealth configuration in the tool above, get an instant offer, and if you accept, we email you a free, fully insured prepaid shipping label. Once your laptop arrives and passes inspection, you get paid. You can see the full walkthrough on our how it works page, and if you want to compare your options first, our guides on selling a used laptop online and whether to trade in, resell, or donate are both worth a read. Curious how the Stealth line holds up? See our take on what makes the Blade Stealth special.
05 Can I still sell my Blade Stealth if it's damaged or won't turn on?
In most cases, yes. We buy Razer laptops in a wide range of conditions — a cracked screen, worn keyboard, dead battery, or general cosmetic wear won't automatically rule out an offer. Just describe the condition honestly using the options in the tool above so your quote reflects the real state of the device. Once your laptop arrives and our team finishes testing, payment goes out quickly by PayPal, Zelle, Venmo, or a mailed check. Have questions about your specific device?
