The Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro is the fifth generation of Samsung's flagship Galaxy Book Pro laptop, unveiled in December 2024, shown globally at CES in January 2025, and shipping in the United States from February 14, 2025 at $1,349 and up. It came in two sizes built on the same design — 14-inch (model NP940XHA) and 16-inch (model NP960XHA) — with US retail SKUs written out in full as NP940XHA-KG1US, NP960XHA-KG1US, and similar. Both run Intel's Core Ultra Series 2 "Lunar Lake" silicon, which makes this a certified Copilot+ PC, and both use a 3K Dynamic AMOLED 2X touchscreen. One detail matters more here than on almost any other laptop: the memory is soldered onto the processor package, so a 32GB unit can never be made from a 16GB one — and that permanently separates the two on the used market. Selling a laptop for cash is simpler than most people expect. Gadget Salvation buys the Galaxy Book5 Pro outright, ships it free, and pays you directly. Make sure you have the Galaxy Book5 Pro

Samsung reused this chassis across several years and several models in the same family. The model number on the bottom cover settles it in seconds.

This page: Galaxy Book5 Pro, 2025

  • Model number NP940XHA (14-inch) or NP960XHA (16-inch)
  • Processor reads Intel Core Ultra 7 256V, 258V, or in some regions Core Ultra 5 226V
  • Traditional clamshell — the lid does not fold back past flat, and no S Pen was included
  • Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4

Not this page: Galaxy Book4 Pro, 2024

  • Model number NP940XGK (14-inch) or NP960XGK (16-inch)
  • Nearly identical size, weight, and finish — this is the easiest mix-up in the whole line
  • Processor reads Core Ultra 7 155H or Core Ultra 9 185H (Series 1), and wireless is Wi-Fi 6E rather than Wi-Fi 7
  • Find it through our Samsung laptop trade-in catalog

Not this page: Galaxy Book5 Pro 360

  • Model number NP964QHA, 16-inch only
  • A 2-in-1 with a 360-degree hinge that folds flat into tablet mode
  • Shipped with an S Pen in the box — if you have a stylus, you do not have the Book5 Pro

Not this page: Galaxy Book5 360 or Galaxy Book5

  • Galaxy Book5 360 is model NP750QHA, 15.6-inch, with a Full HD AMOLED screen rather than the 3K panel
  • The standard Galaxy Book5 sits below the Pro and uses different panels and ports
  • Both are quoted separately — start from our Samsung catalog

How to check, step by step. Pick whichever is easier:

  • Turn it over. The model number is printed on the bottom cover in small text, formatted like NP940XHA-KG1US. The first six characters are what matter.
  • Ask Windows. Hold the Windows key and press R, type msinfo32, and press Enter. System Model shows the short code such as 940XHA, and Processor shows your exact Intel chip.
  • Check memory and storage. Press Windows key + I, then System → About for installed RAM, and System → Storage for drive size. Write both down — they are not on the quote form, but they matter (see FAQ 04).
  • Measure the screen corner to corner diagonally if you are unsure of the size. The 14-inch model is about 12.3 inches wide overall; the 16-inch is about 14 inches wide.

Step-by-step help is on our Samsung model number guide and our processor type guide.

Core hardware configurations

Processor (CPU)

  • Intel Core Ultra 7 256V — 8 cores, 8 threads, 12MB cache, 47 TOPS NPU (paired with 16GB)
  • Intel Core Ultra 7 258V — 8 cores, 8 threads, 12MB cache, boost up to 4.8 GHz, 47 TOPS NPU (paired with 32GB)
  • Intel Core Ultra 5 226V — 40 TOPS NPU, sold in some regions outside the US
  • All are Core Ultra Series 2 "Lunar Lake" chips with Intel AI Boost
  • The NPU clears Microsoft's 40 TOPS threshold, so this is a full Copilot+ PC with Recall, Live Captions, and Cocreator

Graphics (GPU)

  • Intel Arc 140V integrated graphics on Core Ultra 7 models
  • Intel Arc 130V on the Core Ultra 5 variant
  • Graphics share system memory rather than using dedicated video RAM
  • No discrete NVIDIA or AMD graphics card was offered in any Galaxy Book5 Pro configuration

Memory (RAM)

  • LPDDR5X, mounted on the processor package and not upgradable — there are no memory slots inside this laptop
  • 16GB with the Core Ultra 7 256V, or 32GB with the Core Ultra 7 258V
  • The amount your laptop shipped with is the amount it will always have, which is why 32GB units hold noticeably more resale value

Storage

  • NVMe M.2 solid state drive, 512GB or 1TB at retail
  • Two M.2 storage slots inside, so unlike the memory, storage can be expanded or replaced
  • No 2.5-inch drive bay and no optical drive

Display & audio

Display

Both sizes use the same panel specification: a Dynamic AMOLED 2X touchscreen at 2880 × 1800 (WQXGA+, "3K") with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz and 500 nits of brightness. The cover glass is Corning Gorilla Glass with DX, an anti-reflective treatment that cuts surface reflection to under 2%, and Vision Booster adjusts contrast in bright light. Touch input is supported on every unit, though the Book5 Pro was not sold with a stylus.

Audio

Quad-speaker system tuned with Dolby Atmos and driven by a smart amplifier — two woofers rated at 5W each plus two 2W tweeters. A dual-array digital microphone handles calls and recording, and there is a 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack.

Ports & connectivity

Samsung kept a full port selection here rather than going USB-C only, which is worth knowing when you compare it against the model you are replacing.

Ports
  • 2× Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C, with DisplayPort output and charging)
  • 1× USB-A 3.2
  • 1× HDMI 2.1 (supports 8K at 60Hz or 5K at 120Hz)
  • 1× microSD card reader
  • 1× 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack
Wireless, input & security
  • Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be, 2×2) and Bluetooth 5.4
  • Backlit Pro keyboard with a dedicated Copilot key
  • Large clickpad with adaptive palm rejection
  • Fingerprint reader built into the power button
  • TPM plus Samsung Knox hardware security
  • Ambient light sensor

Not included on the Galaxy Book5 Pro: there is no Ethernet port, no full-size SD slot (microSD only), no discrete graphics, no S Pen, and no user-accessible memory slots.

Battery, build & more

Battery & charging

The 14-inch model carries a 63.1 Wh battery rated by Samsung for up to 21 hours of local video playback, reaching about 41% in 30 minutes. The 16-inch model carries a 76 Wh battery rated for up to 25 hours, reaching about 35% in 30 minutes. Both ship with the same compact 65W USB-C adapter.

Camera & mic

2MP (1080p) webcam with Staggered HDR for a wider dynamic range on video calls, paired with a dual-array digital microphone. There is no infrared camera for Windows Hello face sign-in — the fingerprint reader handles biometric login instead.

Weight

14-inch: 1.23 kg (2.71 lb). 16-inch: 1.56 kg (3.44 lb). Both are unusually light for their screen size, which is a large part of why they hold value.

Dimensions

14-inch: 312.3 × 223.8 × 11.6 mm (12.30" × 8.81" × 0.46"). 16-inch: roughly 355 × 250 × 12.5 mm.

Colors & build

Aluminum chassis in Gray or Silver. Color does not change the offer, so there is nothing to select above.

Operating system

Shipped with Windows 11 Home on consumer units and Windows 11 Pro on some business SKUs, alongside Samsung's own software — Samsung Settings, Quick Share, Multi Control, and AI Select.

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I find my Galaxy Book5 Pro model number and screen size?
Close the lid and turn the laptop over. Printed on the bottom cover, usually near the hinge, is a model number in the format NP940XHA-KG1US. The part before the dash is what identifies it: NP940XHA is the 14-inch and NP960XHA is the 16-inch. If the printing has worn away, use Windows. Hold the Windows key, press R, type msinfo32, and press Enter. System Model will show a short code like 940XHA or 960XHA, and the Processor line just below confirms whether you have a Core Ultra 7 256V, a 258V, or a Core Ultra 5 226V. The Samsung Settings app preinstalled on the laptop also shows the full model and serial number on its information screen. While you are in there, note your installed memory and storage from Settings → System → About and Settings → System → Storage. FAQ 04 explains why those two numbers are worth mentioning when you check out. More detail is on our Samsung model number guide.
02 How is this different from the Galaxy Book4 Pro or the Book5 Pro 360?
The Galaxy Book4 Pro is the one that catches people out. It is the 2024 model, it uses the same chassis dimensions, the same weight, the same colors, and the same 3K AMOLED panel, so side by side they are almost indistinguishable. Three things separate them: the model number is NP940XGK or NP960XGK rather than XHA; the processor reads Core Ultra 7 155H or Core Ultra 9 185H instead of a 256V, 258V, or 226V; and the wireless is Wi-Fi 6E rather than Wi-Fi 7. Check msinfo32 and the answer takes five seconds. The Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 (NP964QHA) is the convertible version — the screen rotates a full 360 degrees into tablet mode and an S Pen came in the box. If your screen folds all the way back or you have a stylus, you are on the wrong page. The Galaxy Book5 360 (NP750QHA) is a 15.6-inch model with a Full HD AMOLED screen instead of the 3K panel, and it sits below the Pro line. Quoting the wrong generation means the offer gets revised after inspection, so it is worth confirming first. Everything Samsung makes is in our Samsung laptop catalog.
03 Will you buy it with a cracked screen, a worn battery, or an upgraded drive?
Yes. Mark what applies under the condition selectors above — power faults, a damaged display, keyboard or touchpad problems, defective or missing storage, a battery that no longer holds a charge, or software issues — and the offer adjusts before you ship rather than after we open the box. Screen damage is worth checking carefully on this model. The Galaxy Book5 Pro is built very thin, and owners have reported display cracks appearing from ordinary lid pressure rather than a drop. Open it in good light and look for hairline cracks, dead pixel lines, or discoloration near the edges of the panel before you finalize your condition selection. An AMOLED panel that shows persistent image retention from a static taskbar also counts as a defective screen. If you replaced or added an SSD in one of the two M.2 slots, that is fine and the drive stays with the laptop — quote the capacity that is installed now. Memory cannot be changed on this model at all, since it sits on the processor package. Include the 65W USB-C charger if you have it. It is a Samsung-specific compact adapter, and including yours raises your payout.
04 What is a trade-in, and what raises a Galaxy Book5 Pro's value?
Most people weighing up how to sell a laptop think the choice is between a marketplace listing and a manufacturer trade-in that pays in store credit toward another purchase. There is a third option a lot of sellers have never tried: a direct cash buyback. Gadget Salvation has bought pre-owned electronics since 2008. You answer a few questions above, lock in a firm offer, print a free insured UPS label, ship the laptop, and get paid in real money — no listing, no photos, no negotiating with buyers, and no selling fees taken out of your total. See how the process works, or compare your options in our guide to where to sell used laptops. On this model, screen size is the selector above, and the 16-inch carried a $100 premium at retail across matching configurations. Beyond that, two things move the number and neither appears on the form: Memory. Because the RAM is soldered onto the Lunar Lake processor package, a 32GB Galaxy Book5 Pro can never be upgraded into existence — Samsung charged $300 more for it new, and that gap carries into resale. Storage. A 1TB drive was $200 more than 512GB at retail on the 14-inch. So if your laptop has 32GB of memory or a 1TB drive, request a custom quote rather than taking the standard figure, and we will price your actual configuration. After that, cosmetic condition does the rest: a clean lid, an unmarked AMOLED panel, and a straight chassis sit at the top of the range. Clearing out several at once? We handle volume through bulk trade-in and corporate device buyback. More on timing and pricing in our guide to getting the most from a laptop trade-in.
05 How do I wipe it, and what should go in the box?
Back up anything you want to keep first — documents, photos, browser passwords, and anything sitting in Samsung Gallery or Quick Share — to an external drive or cloud storage. Then work through the sign-outs. This laptop ties into two ecosystems, so there are two to handle: sign out of your Microsoft account, and sign out of your Samsung account in the Samsung Settings app, which also unlinks Multi Control, Quick Share, and any phone or tablet paired through Nearby devices. Remove the laptop from your Samsung account device list while you are there. Then reset: Settings → System → Recovery → Reset this PC → Remove everything. If Recall was enabled, the reset clears its snapshot history along with everything else. If the laptop came from an employer or a school, ask their IT team to release it from Intune or their other device management enrollment before you ship it, since a managed device cannot be fully cleared by the person holding it. You do not need to open the case or remove the M.2 drive. Everything we receive goes through our certified erasure process, documented on the data erasure protocols page. To pack: the laptop and the 65W USB-C charger. Given how thin this chassis is and how the display behaves under pressure, do not stack anything on top of the closed lid inside the box — wrap it, pad every side, and make sure nothing can shift. Our shipping instructions cover it, and the label is free and fully insured. Once it arrives and passes inspection, payment goes out within two business days by PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, or a mailed check.
