The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 launched in 2023 as the standard-size model in Samsung's flagship Android tablet lineup, positioned below the larger Tab S9+ and Tab S9 Ultra. Sold as SM-X710 in Wi-Fi-only form and SM-X716B with cellular, it was built for anyone who wanted a premium Android slate with a bundled S Pen, an IP68 rating, and enough power for DeX-style multitasking without stepping up to Ultra-size pricing. It still holds value because the core spec sheet — Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, a 120Hz AMOLED panel, water resistance rare on any tablet — has aged well against newer Android tablets that cut corners to hit lower price points. Confirm you have the Galaxy Tab S9
Open Settings → About tablet → Model number to see the exact designation. This distinguishes the Wi-Fi-only unit from the cellular version, which matters for your quote since carrier-locked units are graded separately from unlocked ones. If the tablet won't power on, the model number is also printed in small text on the back panel near the bottom edge, though it can be hard to read without good light.
SM-X710
- Wi-Fi only, no SIM tray
- 11-inch Galaxy Tab S9
- Sold unlocked through Samsung and major retailers
SM-X716B
- Wi-Fi + Cellular, nano-SIM or eSIM
- 11-inch Galaxy Tab S9
- Check with your carrier for any account lock before selling
Prefer a visual check? The Tab S9 has a flat-edged aluminum frame, a single centered rear camera housing with two lenses, and a rear S Pen slot along the top edge where the pen attaches magnetically. If you're not sure which Samsung tablet you're holding, the model finder can confirm it from the label details.
Core hardware configurations
Processor
- Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy
- Same silicon across all storage and connectivity options
Graphics
- Adreno 740 integrated GPU
- Handles DeX windowed mode and light creative work well
Memory
- 8GB RAM, soldered and not user-upgradable
Storage
- 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1
- microSD slot for expansion up to 1TB
- The 256GB configuration moves resale value more than the storage difference alone suggests, since it's the harder tier to find used
