The Acer Swift 3 is one of the most popular thin-and-light ultrabooks of the last several years — a metal-chassis, value-focused laptop aimed at students, professionals, and everyday users who want long battery life and portability without a premium price. Acer sold the modern Swift 3 across many configurations from 2018 to 2022, in both Intel and AMD versions and in three screen sizes (13.5-inch, 14-inch, and 15.6/16.1-inch). Because each Swift 3 shipped in dozens of "SF" model variants with different processors, graphics, memory, and displays, identifying your exact model is the key to an accurate quote. Use the tool above to select your configuration and get an instant cash offer, or read on to figure out exactly which Swift 3 you own. When you're ready, you can sell your Acer laptop to us directly for cash — a service many sellers don't realize is available.

Which Acer Swift 3 do you have?

"Swift 3" isn't a single laptop — it's a family of models sold over five years. The fastest way to identify yours is the model number, which always starts with "SF" (for example SF314-42 or SF313-53). You'll find it printed on the sticker on the bottom of the laptop, next to the word "Model" or after an "SNID" line. The first three digits after "SF" tell you the screen size, and the number after the dash tells you the generation:

13.5-inch (SF313 — tall 3:2 screen)

  • SF313-52 / SF313-52G — 2020, 10th-gen Intel, optional NVIDIA MX350
  • SF313-53 / SF313-53G — 2021, 11th-gen Intel

14-inch (SF314 — the most common)

  • SF314-54 / 54G — 2018, 8th-gen Intel, optional MX150
  • SF314-55 / 55G — 2019, 8th-gen Intel, optional MX250
  • SF314-41 — 2019, AMD Ryzen 3000
  • SF314-57 / 57G — 2020, 10th-gen Intel
  • SF314-42 — 2020, AMD Ryzen 4000
  • SF314-59 & SF314-511 — 2021, 11th-gen Intel (Evo)
  • SF314-43 — 2021, AMD Ryzen 5000

15.6" & 16.1-inch (SF315 / SF316)

  • SF315-41 / 41G — 2018, AMD Ryzen 2000
  • SF315-51 / 52 / 52G — 2018, 8th-gen Intel, optional MX150
  • SF316-51 — 2021, 11th-gen Intel (16.1")

A quick note on look-alikes: The Swift 3 is easy to confuse with a few other Acer laptops. The Swift 3X (SF314-510G) is a related but separate 2021 creator model with a dedicated Intel Arc/Xe Max graphics chip. The older SF314-51 and SF314-52 (2016–2017) are a previous-generation design, not part of this modern metal-chassis lineup. And the Aspire and Swift Go series are different product lines entirely. If your sticker doesn't say "Swift 3" and start with "SF31", it isn't this device. Not sure where to look? Our guide to finding your Acer model number walks you through it.

Core hardware configurations

Specs vary widely by model and year. The ranges below cover the full modern Swift 3 family.

Processor (CPU)

  • Intel: 8th-gen Core (2018) → 10th-gen Ice Lake (2020) → 11th-gen Tiger Lake (2021), in Core i3 / i5 / i7 U-series
  • AMD: Ryzen 2000 (2018) → Ryzen 3000 (2019) → Ryzen 4000 (2020) → Ryzen 5000 (2021), in Ryzen 3 / 5 / 7

Graphics (GPU)

  • Most Swift 3 models use integrated graphics (Intel UHD / Iris Xe, or AMD Radeon)
  • Models with a "G" suffix (e.g. SF314-54G) add a discrete NVIDIA GPU: MX150, MX250, or MX350 depending on year
  • A discrete-GPU "G" model is generally worth a little more — select it accurately above

Memory (RAM)

  • Shipped in 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB configurations
  • Important: on most Swift 3 models the RAM is soldered to the board (LPDDR4/LPDDR4X) and cannot be upgraded — do not assume yours is expandable
  • A few earlier Intel models used a standard DDR4 SO-DIMM slot; check your specific model before assuming

Storage

  • Single M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive (SSD)
  • Shipped in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB capacities
  • The M.2 slot is generally user-replaceable on most models

Display & audio

Display

Screen size is the quickest way to tell the sub-families apart. The SF313 models use a distinctive tall 13.5-inch 3:2 IPS panel (2256 × 1504) — great for documents. The SF314 models use a 14-inch Full HD (1920 × 1080) 16:9 IPS display, the most common configuration. The SF315 and SF316 use larger 15.6-inch and 16.1-inch Full HD panels. Nearly all are matte, non-touch IPS.

Audio

Dual stereo speakers with Acer TrueHarmony tuning, plus Acer Purified.Voice dual-microphone technology for clearer calls. Later Intel models add DTS Audio.

Ports & connectivity

Port selection is consistent across the family, with one key difference: the fastest USB-C standard depends on your processor. Intel models from 2020 onward often include Thunderbolt; AMD models use standard USB-C instead.

Left Side
  • 1× USB-C port (Thunderbolt 3/4 on most 2020–2021 Intel models; standard USB-C 3.2 on AMD models — note most Swift 3 models do not charge over USB-C)
  • 1× USB-A 3.2 Gen 1
  • 1× HDMI
  • 1× DC-in power jack
Right Side
  • 1× USB-A (often 2.0, with power-off charging on some models)
  • 1× 3.5mm headphone / microphone combo jack
  • Fingerprint reader below the keyboard on most models

Wi-Fi 6 Bluetooth 5.x Fingerprint reader Backlit keyboard

Battery, build & more

Battery & charging

Battery life is one of the Swift 3's strongest selling points, with real-world runtimes of 10–13+ hours on many models. Capacities range from roughly 48Wh to 56Wh depending on size and generation, with fast-charge support on most units. A worn battery that no longer holds a charge does not disqualify your laptop from a quote.

Camera & security

720p HD webcam with Super HDR on many models, plus a fingerprint reader supporting Windows Hello sign-in. Later models add a webcam and Acer's Bio-Protection.

Keyboard

Backlit chiclet keyboard with a comfortable layout and Precision touchpad. The 15.6" and 16.1" models add a full numeric keypad.

Build & weight

Aluminum and magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis, keeping most 14" models to around 1.2 kg (2.65 lb) — genuinely light for the class. Larger 15.6"/16.1" models weigh more.

Operating system

Shipped with Windows 10 Home or Pro; later models with Windows 11. Most are eligible for the current Windows version.

Colors

Sold in Pure Silver and Steel Gray depending on model and region.

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I find out exactly which Acer Swift 3 I have?
Flip the laptop over and look at the sticker on the bottom. You're looking for a code that starts with "SF" — for example SF314-42, SF313-53, or SF315-41 — usually printed next to the word "Model." That single code tells us your screen size, generation, and (with a "G" on the end) whether it has a discrete graphics chip. If the sticker is worn off, you can also find it in Windows: press the Windows key, type "System Information", open it, and read the "System Model" line. Our Acer model-number guide shows exactly where to look, and you can always contact us if you'd like help identifying it. For tablets and other gadgets, we also have a general model-finder guide.
02 What's the difference between the Intel and AMD Swift 3, and does it affect my quote?
Acer sold the Swift 3 with both Intel and AMD processors, sometimes in the same year. As a rough guide, models ending in -42, -43, and -41 are the AMD Ryzen versions, while -54, -55, -57, -59, and -511 are Intel. The differences that affect resale value most are the processor generation, the amount of RAM, the SSD size, and whether your model has a discrete NVIDIA "G" graphics chip. Selecting your exact model number above ensures your quote reflects the right configuration.
03 Should I wipe my data before shipping the laptop?
Back up anything you want to keep to an external drive or the cloud first, then sign out of your Microsoft account and your browser profiles. You do not need to open the laptop or remove the SSD yourself — our team performs certified data sanitization on every drive we receive, so your personal information is fully erased. You can read exactly how we handle this on our data erasure protocols page.
04 Did you know you can trade in your Swift 3 for cash instead of selling it yourself?
Many people don't realize this is an option. Instead of listing your laptop on a marketplace and dealing with lowball offers, no-show buyers, meetups, and the risk of a chargeback, you can sell it directly to us for cash. It's simple: use the tool above to pick your exact Swift 3 model, get an instant offer, and if you accept, we email you a free, fully insured prepaid shipping label. Once your laptop arrives and passes inspection, you get paid. If you're weighing your choices, our guides on how to estimate your laptop's resale value and whether to trade in, resell, or donate are both worth a read, and you can see the full process on our how it works page.
05 Can I still sell my Swift 3 if it's damaged or won't turn on?
In most cases, yes. We accept laptops in a wide range of conditions — a cracked screen, worn keyboard, dead battery, or general cosmetic wear won't automatically rule out an offer. Just describe the condition honestly using the options in the tool above so your quote reflects the real state of the device. Once your Swift 3 arrives and our team finishes testing, payment goes out quickly by PayPal, Zelle, Venmo, or a mailed check.
