The Microsoft Surface Pro 10 (device model 2079), released in April 2024 as the business-channel successor to the Surface Pro 9, was Microsoft's first "AI PC" tablet — pairing Intel Core Ultra processors with a dedicated neural engine and a Copilot key on its detachable keyboard. Sold as the "Surface Pro 10 for Business" in Platinum and Black through Microsoft and enterprise resellers rather than regular retail shelves, this 13-inch 2-in-1 brought a brighter 120Hz display, a sharper ultrawide camera, a user-replaceable SSD, and an optional 5G version that followed in September 2024. Configurations ranged from an entry Core Ultra 5 with 8GB of memory to a Core Ultra 7 with 64GB — and your exact combination of parts determines its resale price. Is yours really a Surface Pro 10? Two quick checks
Surface Pro generations look nearly identical, and Microsoft's 2024 naming makes this one especially confusing: the consumer tablet sold in stores that year was the Surface Pro (11th Edition) — a different, Snapdragon-based machine. The Pro 10 was Intel-only and business-only. Here's how to be sure.
✓ It's a Surface Pro 10 if…
- Flipping open the built-in kickstand reveals a printed label reading Model 2079 next to the serial number (5G units carry their own model number on the same label, plus a nano-SIM slot)
- In Windows, Settings → System → About shows "Surface Pro 10" and an Intel Core Ultra 5 135U or Core Ultra 7 165U processor
- It's a 13-inch tablet with a kickstand, in Platinum or Black, with two USB-C ports on the left edge and no headphone jack
- Windows 11 Pro came preinstalled (a giveaway of its business origin)
✕ It's a different model if…
- The processor is a Snapdragon X Plus or X Elite → that's the consumer Surface Pro 11th Edition (2024), quoted separately
- The processor is a 12th-gen Intel Core i5/i7 or Microsoft SQ3 → that's the Surface Pro 9 (2022)
- The processor is an Intel Core Ultra Series 2 (e.g., Ultra 5 236V / Ultra 7 268V) → that's the 2025 Surface Pro 11 for Business
- The screen is 12 inches with rounded corners and no Surface Connect port → that's the 2025 Surface Pro 12-inch
The model label under the kickstand is tiny, so if you'd rather check from Windows, our guide to finding your Microsoft device model walks through it step by step, and our general model-finder guide covers every other method.
Core hardware configurations
Every Surface Pro 10 pairs an Intel Core Ultra "Meteor Lake" processor with the Intel AI Boost neural engine. Memory is fixed at purchase, so identifying your RAM amount matters as much as the processor.
Processor (CPU)
- Intel Core Ultra 5 135U — 12 cores, 14 threads, up to 4.4 GHz boost
- Intel Core Ultra 7 165U — 12 cores, 14 threads, up to 4.9 GHz boost
- Both include the Intel AI Boost NPU and integrated Intel Graphics — there is no discrete GPU option on any configuration
Memory (RAM)
- LPDDR5x memory, soldered and not upgradable — the amount you bought is the amount it has forever
- Core Ultra 5 builds: 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB
- Core Ultra 7 builds: 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB
Storage
- 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD
- The M.2 2230 SSD is user-replaceable behind a small magnetic door under the kickstand — rare among tablets and a genuine plus for resale
- No microSD or SD card slot on any configuration
Connectivity tiers
- Wi-Fi models (April 2024): Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3
- Wi-Fi + 5G models (September 2024): add cellular connectivity with a nano-SIM slot and eSIM support
- An optional NFC reader (for security keys and badges) was offered on select business configurations
Display & audio
Display
13-inch PixelSense Flow touchscreen, 2880 × 1920 (267 PPI) in the productivity-friendly 3:2 shape, with a dynamic refresh rate up to 120Hz. This generation jumped to roughly 600 nits of brightness with a new anti-reflective coating — noticeably brighter than the Surface Pro 9 — plus Dolby Vision IQ, Gorilla Glass 5, 10-point touch, and full Surface Slim Pen support with haptic inking.
Audio
2W stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, dual far-field studio microphones tuned for Teams calls, and — worth repeating for anyone hunting for it — no 3.5mm headphone jack.
Ports & connectivity
The port selection is minimal by design — docking happens over Thunderbolt or the magnetic Surface Connect port.
- 2× USB-C with Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 (charging, 40Gbps data, and DisplayPort video out — supports up to two 4K monitors or one 8K)
- Nano-SIM slot (Wi-Fi + 5G models only)
- 1× Surface Connect port (magnetic charging and docking)
- 1× Surface Pro Keyboard connector (keyboards were always sold separately — include yours for a stronger offer)
- No headphone jack, no USB-A, no card reader on any configuration
Wi-Fi 6E Bluetooth 5.3 Optional 5G (late 2024) Optional NFC reader
Battery, build & more
Battery & charging
Rated for up to 19 hours of typical use when new (real-world results run considerably shorter under heavy loads). Ships with a 39W Surface power supply; charges through Surface Connect or either USB-C port, with fast charging (5% to 80%) supported on 45W+ USB-C PD chargers.
Cameras
Front: QHD (1440p) ultrawide 114° camera with Windows Hello face sign-in and Windows Studio Effects (auto-framing, background blur) powered by the NPU. Rear: 10.5MP autofocus camera with 4K video.
Keyboard & pen
Compatible with the Surface Pro Keyboard family — including the 2024 keyboard with bold keyset — and the Surface Slim Pen 2, both sold separately. These accessories add real value to a trade-in, so mention them when requesting your quote.
Build & colors
Anodized aluminum body with the signature 165° friction kickstand, in Platinum or Black (listed as Graphite on service parts). Windows 11 Pro preinstalled.
Weight
≈ 879 g (1.94 lb) for the tablet alone, keyboard not included — 5G models weigh marginally more.
Dimensions
≈ 287 × 209 × 9.3 mm (11.3" × 8.2" × 0.37") — visually identical to the Surface Pro 8 and 9 chassis, which is exactly why the model label matters.
