The Acer Predator Triton 500 is a thin-and-light 15.6-inch gaming laptop sold across two generations: the original PT515-51, released in early 2019 with 8th and 9th Gen Intel Core processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20-series graphics, and the refreshed PT515-52, released in mid-2020 with 10th Gen Intel Core processors, RTX Super graphics, and a blistering 300Hz display. Both generations share the same all-metal Abyssal Black chassis measuring just 0.70 inches thin — a deliberate rival to the Razer Blade 15 and MSI GS65/GS66 Stealth. Because Acer sold this laptop in many factory configurations, your exact processor, graphics card, memory, and storage combination determines its final resale price. Which Triton 500 do you have?
Flip your laptop over and look for the white regulatory sticker on the bottom panel. It lists the model as PT515-51 (2019 generation) or PT515-52 (2020 generation), usually followed by a suffix like PT515-51-75BH or PT515-52-742J that identifies your exact factory configuration. If the sticker has worn off, the fastest tell is the processor: press Windows key + Pause/Break (or type "About your PC" in the Start menu) and read the CPU line.
✔ It's a Triton 500 (PT515-51) if…
- The model sticker reads PT515-51
- The CPU is an Intel Core i7-8750H (8th Gen) or i7-9750H (9th Gen)
- The GPU is an RTX 2060, RTX 2070 Max-Q, or RTX 2080 Max-Q
- The keyboard backlight has 3 lighting zones (not per-key)
- The charger brick is rated 180W
✔ It's a Triton 500 (PT515-52) if…
- The model sticker reads PT515-52
- The CPU is an Intel Core i7-10750H or i7-10875H (10th Gen)
- The GPU is an RTX 2070 Super Max-Q or RTX 2080 Super Max-Q
- The keyboard has per-key RGB lighting
- The charger brick is rated 230W and the screen is 300Hz
Don't confuse it with its siblings. The Triton 500 SE (PT516-51s / PT516-52s, 2021–2022) is a completely different laptop: it has a larger 16-inch taller-format screen, a silver-gray chassis, and 11th/12th Gen Intel chips with RTX 30-series graphics — if your machine is silver with a 16:10 screen, it is the SE, not this model. The Triton 300 (PT315) is the cheaper 15.6-inch stablemate with GTX or lower-tier RTX graphics, and the Predator Helios 300 (PH315) is the thicker, heavier budget line with blue accents. Your Triton 500 is a slim (0.70"), all-black metal laptop with the Predator logo on the lid and the model sticker starting with PT515. Still unsure? Display & audio
Display
Both generations use a 15.6-inch anti-glare Full HD (1920 × 1080) IPS panel at 300 nits with slim bezels, but the refresh rate splits cleanly by generation: the PT515-51 ships with a 144Hz panel (72% NTSC, 3ms overdrive), while the PT515-52 upgrades to a 300Hz esports-grade panel with 100% sRGB color coverage. RTX 2070-tier graphics and above pair the panel with NVIDIA G-Sync.
Audio
Dual stereo speakers with Acer True Harmony and dual-microphone Acer Purified.Voice pickup. Sound tuning differs by generation: the PT515-51 uses Waves MaxxAudio processing, while the PT515-52 moves to DTS:X Ultra spatial audio.
Ports & connectivity
Despite its 0.70-inch profile, the Triton 500 keeps a full-size port loadout — including wired Ethernet, which many thin rivals dropped.
- 1× Power adapter input (DC-in) (barrel charger only — this laptop does not charge over USB-C)
- 1× RJ-45 Ethernet (Killer E3000 Gigabit on the PT515-51; upgraded Killer E3100G 2.5-Gigabit on the PT515-52)
- 1× USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 (with power-off charging)
