The Acer Swift Edge 16 is Acer's ultralight 16-inch OLED laptop. Since 2022 it has been built in five generations that look nearly identical but differ a lot inside:
- SFA16-41 (2022): launched in the US in October 2022 at $1,499.99, with AMD Ryzen 6000 processors and a 4K OLED screen
- SFE16-42 (2023): a Ryzen 7 7735U refresh of the same 4K design
- SFE16-43 (2023): released in July 2023 at $1,299.99, adding Ryzen 7040 processors and a faster 120Hz 3.2K OLED screen
- SFE16-44 (2024): released in March 2024 at $1,299.99, with Ryzen 8040 processors and a Copilot key
- SFE16-I51 / SFE16-I51T (2026): the Swift Edge 16 AI, a Copilot+ PC on Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors with Thunderbolt 4 and an infrared face-recognition camera
The model code on the bottom of your laptop tells you which one you have, and that matters, because a 2026 model is worth several times what a 2022 model fetches. Gadget Salvation has bought used Acer laptops directly from owners since 2008, so you can sell yours online for cash without listing it, meeting a stranger, or paying a fee. Find your model code below, then choose your configuration with the tool above to see an instant offer.
Find your generation in 30 seconds
Open Settings → System → About and read the Processor line. The processor name alone identifies almost every Swift Edge 16:
- Ryzen 5 6600U, Ryzen 5 PRO 6650U, Ryzen 7 6800U, or Ryzen 7 PRO 6850U — SFA16-41 (2022)
- Ryzen 7 7735U — SFE16-42 (2023), or one of a few late SFA16-41 builds. Check the label to tell them apart
- Ryzen 5 7640U or Ryzen 7 7840U (including PRO) — SFE16-43 (2023)
- Ryzen 5 8640U or Ryzen 7 8840U — SFE16-44 (2024)
- Intel Core Ultra 5 325, Core Ultra 7 355, or Core Ultra 9 386H — SFE16-I51 / I51T (2026)
Want to double-check the label? Turn the laptop over. Acer prints a white label on the bottom cover showing the model code — such as SFE16-43-R98R — and a part number beginning with NX or UN. If the label has worn off, press the Windows key, type msinfo32, and press Enter; the System Model line shows the same code. Our guide to finding an Acer model number and our guide to finding your processor type walk through both with pictures, and you can always send us a photo of the label instead.

Swift Edge 16 model numbers
Each generation has one platform code. The short suffix after it (such as -R98R) identifies the exact factory build, and the NX. or UN. part number is Acer's catalog number for that build.

If your suffix isn't listed, that's fine — Acer built many regional versions, and we buy imported units too. The platform code and your processor are what set your offer. Just read your processor, memory, and storage from Windows and select those in the tool above.
Core hardware configurations
No Swift Edge 16 has a dedicated graphics card. Every generation uses graphics built into its processor.
Processors — AMD generations
- SFA16-41: Ryzen 5 6600U / PRO 6650U (6 cores, Radeon 660M); Ryzen 7 6800U / PRO 6850U (8 cores, up to 4.7GHz, Radeon 680M); Ryzen 7 7735U on late builds
- SFE16-42: Ryzen 7 7735U — 8 cores, 16 threads, up to 4.75GHz, Radeon 680M
- SFE16-43: Ryzen 5 7640U (6 cores, Radeon 760M); Ryzen 7 7840U / PRO 7840U (8 cores, up to 5.1GHz, Radeon 780M, Ryzen AI)
- SFE16-44: Ryzen 5 8640U (6 cores, Radeon 760M); Ryzen 7 8840U (8 cores, up to 5.1GHz, Radeon 780M, Ryzen AI)
Processors — Intel generation
- SFE16-I51: Intel Core Ultra 5 325 (8 cores, up to 4.5GHz)
- Intel Core Ultra 7 355 (8 cores, up to 4.7GHz)
- Intel Core Ultra 9 386H (16 cores, up to 4.9GHz) — the top configuration on this page
- Built-in Intel Graphics and an AI processor (NPU) rated at up to 49 TOPS, qualifying it as a Copilot+ PC
Memory (RAM)
- Soldered to the board on every generation — no memory slots, not upgradable
- SFA16-41: LPDDR5, 8GB / 16GB / 32GB
- SFE16-42: LPDDR5, 16GB or 32GB
- SFE16-43 & SFE16-44: LPDDR5-6400, 8GB / 16GB / 32GB
- SFE16-I51: LPDDR5X, 16GB or 32GB
- Your laptop has exactly what it shipped with, so report the figure Windows shows
Storage
- NVMe PCIe Gen 4 SSD on every generation; no 2.5-inch drive bay
- SFA16-41 & SFE16-42: 512GB or 1TB in a replaceable M.2 2280 slot. Reviewers report a second slot on the SFA16-41 and only one on the SFE16-42
- SFE16-43 & SFE16-44: up to 2TB; Acer lists two M.2 2280 slots, so some units carry a second, owner-added drive
- SFE16-I51: 512GB or 1TB (1TB is Acer's stated maximum)
Display & audio
Three kinds of OLED screens
- SFA16-41 & SFE16-42: 4K WQUXGA, 3840 × 2400, 60Hz, glossy, non-touch, 100% DCI-P3, 500 nits peak HDR
- SFE16-43 & SFE16-44: 3.2K WQXGA+, 3200 × 2000, 120Hz, glossy, non-touch, 100% DCI-P3, DisplayHDR True Black 500
- SFE16-I51 / I51T: 120Hz OLED — 2880 × 1800 touch (340 nits), 2880 × 1800 non-touch (400 nits), or 1920 × 1200 non-touch (300 nits)
Check your exact screen in Settings → System → Display. The resolution listed there pins down your generation.
Check for OLED burn-in
Every Swift Edge 16 has an OLED screen, and OLED panels can permanently retain faint images of things left on screen for long periods. Open a plain white or light gray image full-screen and look for ghostly outlines of the taskbar or a browser bar. A clean panel is worth noticeably more, so report any retention up front.
Audio
SFA16-41 through SFE16-44: stereo speakers tuned with DTS Audio and dual microphones with Acer PurifiedVoice noise reduction. SFE16-I51: dual DTS:X Ultra speakers with anti-vibration mounting and a triple-microphone array. Every model uses a single 3.5mm headset jack.
Ports & connectivity
Every Swift Edge 16 has two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, and a headset jack, and every one charges through USB-C. None has a round barrel power jack. What changed from one generation to the next is the speed of the USB-C ports and whether there's a card slot.
- SFA16-41: 2× USB-C, USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps, DisplayPort video, 65W charging; not USB4)
- SFE16-42, -43, -44: 2× USB4 (40Gbps, DisplayPort video, 65W charging)
- SFE16-I51: 2× Thunderbolt 4 (40Gbps, display output, charging)
- 2× USB-A 3.2 on every generation (one can charge a phone while the laptop is off on AMD models)
- 1× HDMI 2.1 on every generation
- 1× 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack
- microSD card slot (SFE16-43 and SFE16-44 only)
Features no Swift Edge 16 has, so you don't need to look for them: no Ethernet port, no barrel-style charging jack, no dedicated graphics card, no cellular connection, no memory slots, and no numeric keypad. The SFA16-41 and SFE16-42 also have no card reader. Missing any of these is normal and does not reduce your offer.
Wi-Fi 6E (SFA16-41, SFE16-42) Wi-Fi 7 (SFE16-43*, SFE16-44, SFE16-I51) USB-C charging HDMI 2.1 No Ethernet
*A few SFE16-43 units shipped with Wi-Fi 6E instead.
Battery, build & more
Battery & charging
SFA16-41 through SFE16-44: a 54Wh, 3-cell battery with a 65W USB-C adapter. SFE16-I51: a larger 65Wh battery. Because every generation charges over USB-C, a quality 65W-or-higher USB-C laptop charger will power any of them, so a missing original charger is less of a problem here than on most laptops. We still prefer that you include it.
Size & weight
- SFA16-41: 14.04" × 9.54" × 0.51–0.55", 2.58 lb
- SFE16-42: 14.04" × 9.54" × 0.55", 2.62 lb
- SFE16-43: 14.08" × 9.68" × 0.51", 2.7 lb
- SFE16-44: 14.08" × 9.68" × 0.51", 2.71 lb
- SFE16-I51: 14.06" × 9.63" × 0.30–0.57", 2.76 lb
Camera & sign-in
- SFA16-41 & SFE16-42: 1080p webcam, fingerprint reader
- SFE16-43 & SFE16-44: 1440p QHD webcam, fingerprint reader in the power button
- SFE16-I51: FHD IR camera with face sign-in and Human Presence Detection, plus a fingerprint reader in the power key
- Only the 2026 model offers face sign-in
Keyboard & touchpad
Every generation has a white-backlit keyboard with no numeric keypad. The SFE16-44 and SFE16-I51 add a dedicated Copilot key. The SFE16-I51 also adds a programmable Acer My Key and a multi-control touchpad with media and video-call controls along its edges.
Build & colors
Every generation uses a thin magnesium-alloy chassis. US AMD models are mostly Olivine Black, a very dark green-black. The SFE16-I51 passed MIL-STD-810H durability testing and comes in colors that vary by market, including Elemental Blue. Color does not change your offer. The thin metal panels can dent under pressure, so check the lid and bottom cover closely when you choose a condition grade.
Security & operating system
Every generation has Microsoft Pluton or firmware TPM security built into the processor. Units shipped with Windows 11 Home or Pro; Pro was standard on the Ryzen PRO business configurations. If you set a BIOS supervisor or power-on password, clear it before shipping, since a locked BIOS stops us from testing the machine.
Frequently asked questions
Then check your storage. Open File Explorer, click This PC, and look at the size of the C: drive. A 1TB drive shows as roughly 930GB, and a 512GB drive as roughly 475GB.
To confirm, look at the label on the bottom of the laptop. It shows the model code: SFA16-41, SFE16-42, SFE16-43, SFE16-44, or SFE16-I51 / SFE16-I51T. If the label is gone, press the Windows key, type msinfo32, and press Enter; the System Model line shows the same code. Our step-by-step guide to finding an Acer model number has pictures of each spot, and you're always welcome to send us a photo of the label instead.
SFA16-41 versus SFE16-42. Both have the same 4K screen and footprint, and a few late SFA16-41 units used the same Ryzen 7 7735U as the SFE16-42. The label settles it: "SFA" is the 2022 model, "SFE" is 2023. If your processor is any Ryzen 6000 chip, you have the SFA16-41.
SFE16-43 versus SFE16-44. Both have the same 3.2K 120Hz screen and microSD slot. Look for a Copilot key on the keyboard, a key with the Copilot logo near the arrow keys. Only the SFE16-44 has one. The processor confirms it too: a 7040-series Ryzen (7640U or 7840U) is the SFE16-43, and an 8040-series (8640U or 8840U) is the SFE16-44.
4K models versus 3.2K models. Go to Settings → System → Display. A resolution of 3840 × 2400 means SFA16-41 or SFE16-42. A resolution of 3200 × 2000 means SFE16-43 or SFE16-44. A resolution of 2880 × 1800 or 1920 × 1200 means the 2026 SFE16-I51.
SFE16-I51 versus SFE16-I51T. These are the same laptop. The "T" means a touchscreen, so tap the screen if you're unsure.
Not on this page: any code beginning with SFE14 (a 14-inch model) and the SFA16-61M. The SFA16-61M shares the "SFA16" start of the code but is a different laptop on Ryzen AI 300 processors.
When reporting your memory, enter exactly what Windows shows. It's soldered to the board on every generation, so it can't have been changed since the laptop left the factory.
Storage is different. The SSD is replaceable on the AMD models, and the SFE16-43 and SFE16-44 have a second slot. If a larger drive or a second drive has been added, quote the total that's in it now, and you'll be paid for it. If you'd rather keep an upgraded drive and put the original back before shipping, that's fine — just quote what you're actually sending. Our guide to the factors that determine laptop resale value covers a few minutes of prep that can move a laptop up a condition grade.
Then processor. Within a generation, a Ryzen 7 beats a Ryzen 5. On the 2026 model, a Core Ultra 9 beats a Core Ultra 7, which beats a Core Ultra 5.
Then memory. It can never be upgraded, so 32GB holds a lasting premium over 16GB, and 8GB sits at the bottom.
After that: total storage (including any second drive), the 2880 × 1800 screen versus 1920 × 1200 on the 2026 model, a touchscreen, a burn-in-free and crack-free OLED, the condition of the lid and bottom cover, battery health, and whether the USB-C charger is included.
Many people don't realize there's a simple online trade-in service for a laptop like this. Most owners assume their only choices are a marketplace listing full of lowball offers and no-shows, a store trade-in that pays in credit, or a drawer where the laptop slowly loses value. Gadget Salvation has been a cash-for-electronics buyback service since 2008. You answer a few questions, get an instant offer, and receive a free prepaid and insured shipping label by email. Once the laptop reaches us, we pay you in real money — not credit or gift cards — within about two business days. There's no listing to write, no stranger to meet, and no fee taken out of your total. You can browse every Acer laptop we buy to check anything else you have sitting around. If this is your first time selling a computer online, our first-time seller's guide walks you through the whole process, and it explains why selling sooner usually beats waiting.
You don't need to open the bottom panel or remove the SSD yourself. Our technicians run certified data sanitization on every drive that arrives, whether or not you reset it first. If your laptop has a second SSD installed, let us know so both get wiped. The full process is on our data erasure protocols page. If the laptop won't boot far enough to reset, ship it as-is and tell us.
Pack it with the USB-C charger if you still have it, print the free prepaid and insured label we email you, and drop it off. Our shipping instructions show how to protect a thin OLED screen in transit. Once the laptop arrives and passes functional testing, payment is approved within roughly two business days. You can choose PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or Cash App, or a paper check mailed to your address.
