The Apple iPad (A16) — widely called the iPad 11th generation — was announced on March 4, 2025 and went on sale March 12, 2025 as Apple's entry-level tablet, starting at $349. It carries the model numbers A3354 (Wi-Fi), A3355 (Wi-Fi + Cellular), and A3356 (Wi-Fi + Cellular, mainland China only), and reports internally as iPad15,7 or iPad15,8. It replaced the iPad (10th generation) and kept that model's 11-inch body almost unchanged, which is exactly why so many sellers quote the wrong one — the capacity and the model number are what tell them apart. Selling an iPad for cash is more straightforward than most people expect: Gadget Salvation buys it outright, ships it for free, and pays you directly rather than in store credit. Pick your storage and connectivity above for an instant offer.

Make sure you have the iPad (A16), not the 10th generation

These two look nearly identical: same flat-sided aluminum body, same size, same four colors, same Touch ID button on top, same front camera on the long edge. Here is how to separate them in under a minute.

This page: iPad (A16), 2025

  • Model number A3354, A3355, or A3356
  • Storage of 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB
  • Cellular versions have no SIM card tray at all — eSIM only
  • Settings shows the model name as iPad (A16)

Not this page: iPad (10th generation), 2022

  • Model number A2696, A2757, A2777, or A3162
  • Storage of 64GB or 256GB — if your iPad says 64GB, it is not the A16
  • Cellular versions have a physical nano-SIM tray on the right edge
  • Quote it on our iPad 10th generation page instead

Not this page: iPad Air 11-inch

  • The back is engraved "iPad Air" below the Apple logo; the A16 model is engraved simply "iPad"
  • Runs an M-series chip and supports Apple Pencil Pro, which the A16 model does not
  • Has a fully laminated, antireflective display — hold it at an angle and the glass sits flush with the image rather than showing a visible air gap
  • Quote it on our iPad Air page

Not this page: iPad (9th generation) or iPad Pro

  • The 9th generation has a round Home button below the screen and thick top and bottom bezels, plus a Lightning port instead of USB-C
  • iPad Pro models are engraved "iPad Pro" and use Face ID with no Touch ID button
  • Everything Apple makes is listed on our iPad trade-in page

The easiest check, step by step. No tools and no squinting required:

  • Open the Settings app on the iPad.
  • Tap General, then tap About.
  • The first line, Model Name, will read iPad (A16) if you are on the right page.
  • A few lines down, Model Number shows something like MD3Y4LL/A. Tap it once and it switches to the shorter number — A3354, A3355, or A3356.
  • Capacity on that same screen tells you which storage tier to select above. Apple reports slightly less than the advertised figure, so roughly 118GB means a 128GB iPad, and roughly 238GB means a 256GB iPad.

If the iPad will not power on, the model number is laser-etched in small gray text on the back cover near the bottom. Our guide to finding your gadget's model number shows where to look, and you can always send us a photo of the back through our contact form.

Core hardware

Chip

  • Apple A16 chip with a 5-core CPU and a 4-core GPU
  • 16-core Neural Engine
  • 6GB of memory, not user-upgradable
  • Does not support Apple Intelligence — Apple's on-device AI features require an A17 Pro or M-series chip, so they are unavailable on this model regardless of the iPadOS version installed

Storage

  • 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB — Apple dropped the 64GB tier with this generation
  • Storage is soldered and sealed; there is no memory card slot of any kind
  • The capacity you bought is permanent, so check Settings rather than guessing

Connectivity

  • Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) with 2x2 MIMO and simultaneous dual band on every unit
  • Bluetooth 5.3
  • Cellular models add 5G sub-6 GHz and Gigabit LTE, both with 4x4 MIMO — no mmWave 5G
  • eSIM only. Cellular models have no SIM tray, so a plan has to be activated digitally through the carrier
  • Cellular models are data-only and also add GPS/GNSS, which Wi-Fi models lack

Cameras

  • Rear: 12MP Wide, ƒ/1.8, five-element lens, autofocus with Focus Pixels, Smart HDR 4
  • Rear video: 4K at up to 60 fps, 1080p slow motion at 120 or 240 fps
  • Front: 12MP Center Stage camera mounted on the landscape edge, ƒ/2.4, with Retina Flash
  • Front video: 1080p at up to 60 fps. There is no Ultra Wide rear camera, no LiDAR, and no Face ID

Display & audio

Display

Liquid Retina LED-backlit IPS Multi-Touch panel at 2360 × 1640 pixels and 264 ppi, with True Tone and 500 nits of brightness under a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating. Apple markets it as 11 inches; measured diagonally as a rectangle the screen is 10.86 inches. Apple does not list a fully laminated display, an antireflective coating, wide color P3, or ProMotion for this model, and the refresh rate is 60Hz.

Audio

Landscape stereo speakers, so sound stays correctly separated left and right when the iPad is held sideways for video. Dual microphones handle calls, video, and audio recording. There is no headphone jack — wired headphones need a USB-C adapter or a USB-C set.

Buttons, ports & accessory support

Accessory compatibility is one of the quickest physical confirmations that you have this exact model, and it matters to the buyer on the other end of the sale.

On the device
  • 1× USB-C connector (charging, DisplayPort video out, and USB 2.0 data at up to 480Mb/s — not USB 3 speeds)
  • Top button with Touch ID fingerprint sensor built in
  • Volume buttons on the top edge beside the button
  • Smart Connector pins on the back for keyboard folios
  • Sensors: three-axis gyro, accelerometer, barometer, ambient light, digital compass
  • No headphone jack, no SIM tray, no memory card slot
Accessory compatibility
  • Apple Pencil (USB-C) — supported
  • Apple Pencil (1st generation) — supported, but only via the USB-C to Apple Pencil Adapter for pairing and charging
  • Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (2nd generation) — not supported, and neither will magnetically attach or charge
  • Magic Keyboard Folio and other Smart Connector keyboards built for the 11-inch body will fit
  • External display: one screen at up to 4K 60Hz over USB-C, plus AirPlay mirroring

A16 chip Wi-Fi 6 Bluetooth 5.3 Touch ID USB-C eSIM only

Battery, build & more

Battery & charging

Built-in 28.93-watt-hour rechargeable lithium-polymer battery, rated by Apple for up to 10 hours of web browsing or video over Wi-Fi, or up to 9 hours over a cellular data network. Charging runs through the USB-C port from a power adapter or a computer.

In the box

Apple shipped the iPad with a 1-meter USB-C charge cable and a 20W USB-C power adapter. Including both raises your offer, so check the drawer before you pack.

Colors

Silver, blue, pink, and yellow, all in 100% recycled aluminum. Color does not change the offer amount on this model, so there is no need to select it above.

Size & weight

9.79 × 7.07 × 0.28 inches (248.6 × 179.5 × 7 mm). Wi-Fi models weigh 1.05 lb (477 g); Wi-Fi + Cellular models weigh 1.06 lb (481 g).

Security

Touch ID in the top button handles unlocking, in-app authentication, and Apple Pay. There is no Face ID and no front-facing depth camera on this model.

Environment

ENERGY STAR certified, with 100% recycled aluminum in the enclosure, 100% recycled cobalt and over 95% recycled lithium in the battery, and fully fiber-based packaging.

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I check which iPad I have and how much storage it holds?
Open Settings on the iPad, tap General, then tap About. The very first line is Model Name and it will say iPad (A16) if this is the right page. Underneath, Capacity tells you the storage tier — Apple always reports a little less than the number on the box, so about 118GB means 128GB, about 238GB means 256GB, and about 477GB means 512GB. A few lines further down, Model Number shows a long code like MD3Y4LL/A. Tap it once and it flips to the short form: A3354 for Wi-Fi, or A3355 or A3356 for Wi-Fi + Cellular. Two shortcuts if you are unsure about connectivity: look along the right edge for a small oval SIM tray — the A16 model has none at all, so a tray means you have an older iPad. And on the About screen, cellular models list an EID and a Modem Firmware line that Wi-Fi models do not have. If the iPad is dead or the screen is broken, the model number is etched in fine gray print on the aluminum back near the bottom edge. Our model number guide shows exactly where.
02 Mine looks exactly like this but I bought it before 2025. Is it the same iPad?
Almost certainly not. Apple reused the iPad (10th generation) body for the A16 model, so the two are the same size and shape, come in the same silver, blue, pink, and yellow, both have the Touch ID button on top, both put the front camera on the long edge, and both charge over USB-C. Nothing on the outside gives it away at a glance. Three reliable differences: storage — the 10th generation shipped in 64GB and 256GB only, so a 64GB iPad is never an A16 model, and a 128GB or 512GB one is never a 10th generation. SIM tray — cellular 10th generation units have a physical nano-SIM tray on the right edge, and the A16 model has none. Model number — A2696, A2757, A2777, and A3162 are the 10th generation; A3354, A3355, and A3356 are the A16. Getting this right matters to your payout in both directions, so it is worth the thirty seconds. If yours turns out to be the older one, quote it on our iPad 10th generation page, and if it is an Air or a Pro, start from our iPad trade-in page.
03 Will you buy it with a cracked screen, a worn battery, or a locked screen?
Cracked glass, a battery that drains quickly, dents on the aluminum, a dead Touch ID sensor, a port that no longer charges reliably, or an iPad that will not switch on at all — all of these are quotable. Mark them under the condition selectors above and the offer adjusts before you ship rather than after we open the box. There is one exception you need to handle yourself, and it is the single most common reason an iPad gets sent back. An iPad still signed in to an Apple Account cannot be resold. Find My leaves Activation Lock in place, which permanently ties the tablet to your account, and nobody — not us, not Apple, not a repair shop — can remove it without your credentials. If you cannot get into the device to turn Find My off, you can still do it remotely from iCloud.com or another Apple device before shipping. FAQ 05 below walks through it. A passcode you have forgotten is a different problem but the same fix: signing out of the Apple Account and erasing the iPad clears both. If you are stuck, reach out to us before you ship and we will talk you through it.
04 What is a trade-in, and what raises the value of an iPad (A16)?
A lot of people think their only choices are a manufacturer trade-in that pays in store credit or a marketplace listing with strangers and shipping risk. There is a third option most sellers have never used: a direct cash buyback. Gadget Salvation has bought pre-owned electronics since 2008. You pick your configuration above, lock in a firm offer, print a free insured UPS label, mail the iPad, and get paid in actual money — no listing to write, no photos, no haggling, and no selling fees skimmed off the top. See how the process works, or compare your options in our guide to selling a used iPad. On this model, two things move the number. Storage is the bigger lever: a 512GB unit is worth meaningfully more than a 128GB one, and unlike a computer there is no way to add storage later, which keeps demand for the larger tiers steady. Connectivity is the second: Apple charged a premium for the cellular version, and used prices reflect it, so select Wi-Fi + Cellular if your iPad has no SIM tray but does show an EID in Settings. Beyond that, cosmetic condition does the rest — a clean screen with no deep scratches and a straight, undented frame sits at the top of the range. Worth knowing either way: this generation does not support Apple Intelligence, since Apple limits those features to A17 Pro and M-series chips. That has not stopped it from being a strong seller — it is the affordable iPad people buy for reading, video, schoolwork, and kids — but it is a fair thing to understand about where the model sits. Clearing out more than one? Classrooms and offices go through our school device buyback, corporate buyback, and bulk trade-in programs. 05 How do I turn off Find My, erase it, and what do I pack?
Do these in order and the whole thing takes about ten minutes. 1. Back up. Open Settings, tap your name at the top, then iCloud → iCloud Backup → Back Up Now, or plug the iPad into a computer and back it up there. 2. Unpair accessories. Under Settings → Bluetooth, forget any Apple Pencil, keyboard, or headphones you plan to keep. 3. Sign out and erase. Go to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPad → Erase All Content and Settings. The iPad will ask for your Apple Account password, and entering it signs you out and turns off Find My and Activation Lock in one step. Do not skip this — it is what makes the tablet resellable. 4. If the screen is broken or the iPad will not start, sign in at iCloud.com from any computer or phone, open Find Devices, select this iPad, and choose Remove This Device. That releases Activation Lock remotely. 5. If it came from a school or an employer, ask their IT team to release it from Apple School Manager, Apple Business Manager, or their MDM enrollment. A supervised iPad re-locks itself after a reset, and only they can clear that. Full walkthrough with screenshots: How to wipe an iPad before you sell it online. Our certified erasure process is documented on the data erasure protocols page. To pack: the iPad plus the 20W adapter and USB-C cable if you still have them. Leave cases and screen protectors on if they are already fitted — they help in transit. Wrap the tablet so it cannot shift inside the box, since a loose iPad arriving with fresh cracks changes the offer. Our shipping instructions cover it, and the label is free and fully insured. Once the iPad arrives and passes inspection, payment goes out within two business days by PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, or a mailed check.
