The Dell G16 7630 — regulatory model P122F (types P122F001 / P122F002) — launched in February 2023 and remained on retail shelves through 2024 as Dell's 16-inch mainstream gaming flagship, sitting directly beneath the Alienware line. It pairs 13th-generation Intel Core HX-series processors with NVIDIA RTX 30/40-series graphics behind a 16:10 QHD+ display and Alienware-derived Cryo-Tech cooling. Because the 7630 shipped in an unusually wide spread of configurations — from an RTX 3050 entry tier all the way to a 140W RTX 4070 with a Cherry MX mechanical keyboard — your exact processor, GPU, panel, and battery combination is what sets your trade-in value. Many owners never realize this machine still carries real cash value: our gaming laptop trade-in service pays cash for it, and configuring your specs with the tool above returns an instant offer for your exact device.

Core hardware configurations

Processor (CPU)

  • Intel Core i5-13450HX — 10 cores (6P + 4E), 16 threads, up to 4.6 GHz, 20MB cache
  • Intel Core i7-13650HX — 14 cores (6P + 8E), 20 threads, up to 4.9 GHz, 24MB cache
  • Intel Core i7-13700HX — 16 cores (8P + 8E), 24 threads, up to 5.0 GHz, 30MB cache
  • Intel Core i9-13900HX — 24 cores (8P + 16E), 32 threads, up to 5.4 GHz, 36MB cache
  • All 13th-gen Raptor Lake-HX. There is no AMD version of the 7630 and no Intel Core Ultra version — if your sticker says either, you have a different Dell.

Graphics (GPU)

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 — 6GB GDDR6 (entry tier, Ampere)
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 — 6GB GDDR6 (Ada Lovelace)
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 — 8GB GDDR6
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 — 8GB GDDR6, up to 140W TGP (top tier)
  • Intel UHD Graphics integrated alongside the discrete GPU
  • No RTX 4080 or RTX 4090 option ever shipped in the G16 7630. Listings claiming a 4080 are misidentified — those GPUs belong to Alienware m16 / x16 chassis, not the G16.

Memory (RAM)

  • DDR5-4800 dual-channel
  • Factory capacities: 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB
  • Two user-accessible SO-DIMM slots — nothing is soldered. RAM is fully removable and upgradable, and aftermarket 64GB kits are commonly fitted.
  • If you upgraded the RAM yourself, quote the capacity currently installed, not what it shipped with — it raises your offer.

Storage

  • M.2 PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe SSD
  • Shipping capacities: 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, 2TB (4TB via aftermarket)
  • Two M.2 slots (2230 and 2280 form factors), both user-serviceable
  • No 2.5-inch drive bay and no mechanical hard drive option.

Display & audio

Display

16.0-inch 16:10 anti-glare IPS panel with ComfortView Plus low-blue-light and NVIDIA G-SYNC. Two configurations shipped, both at QHD+ (2560 × 1600) and roughly 300 nits: a 165Hz panel (3ms response) and a faster 240Hz panel with 100% DCI-P3 coverage. The 240Hz screen is worth more at trade-in.

Absent features stated plainly: no touchscreen, no OLED, no 4K/UHD, and no 1080p option — every 7630 is QHD+. If your screen is 1920 × 1080, you own a G15, not a G16.

Audio

Realtek ALC3204 controller driving dual stereo speakers with Nahimic 3D Audio. Dual-array digital microphones. Speaker quality is widely considered the weakest part of the machine, but it does not affect trade-in value.

Ports & connectivity

Heavy cables route out of the rear thermal shelf to keep the desk clear. Port generation differs by GPU tier — this is the single most useful clue when identifying which configuration you own.

Rear
  • 1× USB-C (Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort on RTX 4070 units only. RTX 3050 / 4050 / 4060 units get USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 with DisplayPort instead — same shape, different speed.)
  • 1× HDMI 2.1
  • 1× USB-A 3.2 Gen 1
  • 1× Power adapter input (DC-in)
Left & Right Sides
  • 2× USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 (right side)
  • 1× RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet (left side)
  • 1× 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack (left side)
  • No SD or microSD card reader. No mini DisplayPort. No USB-C charging — the barrel DC-in adapter is the only way to power it, so include it in the box.

Battery, build & more

Battery & charging

Two batteries shipped, tied to GPU tier: a 4-cell 56 Whr pack on lower configurations, and a 6-cell 86 Whr pack (part 69KF2, 11.4V) on higher ones. Adapters range from 180W up to 240W depending on GPU — check the wattage printed on your brick and send that exact one.

Camera & mic

HD 720p webcam with dual-array microphones. No 1080p webcam, no IR camera, and no Windows Hello facial recognition on any 7630.

Keyboard

Two very different keyboards shipped: a standard one-zone RGB backlit membrane board, or an optional Cherry MX per-key RGB mechanical board. Both include a numeric keypad (85 keys US/Canada). The mechanical version is a meaningful value-add — check whether your keys click.

Cooling

Alienware-derived Cryo-Tech thermal design: dual fans and four copper heat pipes venting through the rear shelf and side exhausts. G-Mode fan boost is bound to Fn + F9.

Weight & colors

≈ 2.73–2.87 kg (6.01–6.3 lb) depending on battery. Shipped in Metallic Nightshade (dark) and Pebble Green / white lids.

Dimensions

Roughly 357 × 288.7 mm footprint, 20.2 mm front height rising to ~25.65 mm at the rear (14.05" × 11.37" × ~1.01").

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I confirm my laptop is a Dell G16 7630?

Three easy ways, no technical skill needed:

  • Flip it over. The label on the bottom cover will read "Reg. Model: P122F" and a Regulatory Type of P122F001 or P122F002. Your 7-character Service Tag is printed on the same label.
  • Ask Windows. Press the Windows key + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter. The line labeled "System Model" will say G16 7630.
  • Look at the screen size and lid. The 7630 is a 16-inch, 16:10 machine with a metal lid and a large matte-black rear hinge shelf.

Still unsure? Walk through our guide to finding your Dell model number or the general laptop model number guide.

02 My Dell looks similar — how do I know it isn't a G15, an Inspiron 16, or an Alienware?

This is the most common mix-up we see, and quoting the wrong model changes your payout. Use the regulatory code on the bottom label — it never lies:

  • G16 7630 = P122F. This page.
  • Inspiron 16 Plus 7630 = P125F. Same "7630" number, completely different laptop — non-gaming, no G-badge. Because the digits match exactly, this is the easiest trap to fall into. If your label says P125F, quote it on our Dell Inspiron page instead.
  • Dell G15 (5530 / 5535, etc.) — a 15.6-inch, 16:9 chassis with a 1080p screen. If your display is 1920 × 1080, it is not a G16. Head to the Dell G15 page.
  • G16 7620 (2022) — the prior generation, with 12th-gen Intel and RTX 30-series graphics. If your CPU starts with 12 (e.g. i7-12700H), you have a 7620, not a 7630.
  • Alienware m16 / x16 — carries the alien-head logo, not the G-badge, and offers RTX 4080/4090. Quote those on our Alienware page.

03 Can I still sell a G16 7630 that's damaged, worn out, or upgraded?

Yes. We buy the 7630 in every condition — cracked screen, dead battery, missing keycaps, loud or grinding fans, broken hinge, thermal throttling, even a unit that won't boot. Damage lowers the offer but rarely disqualifies the machine, because the GPU, CPU, RAM, and SSD hold value independently.

If you upgraded it, say so. The 7630's RAM and both M.2 slots are user-serviceable, so an aftermarket 64GB kit or a 4TB SSD raises your quote above the factory baseline. Just describe the machine as it currently sits.

One practical note: gaming laptops depreciate fast, and every new NVIDIA generation announcement pushes 40-series values down. If you're already thinking about selling, sooner is worth more than later.

04 What drives the trade-in value of a Dell G16 7630 the most?

Many people don't realize their old gaming laptop is worth real money — they assume a two- or three-year-old machine is worthless and let it sit in a drawer losing value every month. It isn't. Gadget Salvation is a trade-in service that pays cash for used electronics, and the G16 7630 is exactly the kind of laptop that still commands a strong offer.

Here's what moves the number most, in order:

  • The GPU. By far the biggest factor. An RTX 4070 (8GB, 140W) is worth dramatically more than an RTX 4060, and the RTX 3050 and 4050 (6GB) sit well below both.
  • The processor tier. An i9-13900HX or i7-13700HX outvalues the i7-13650HX, which outvalues the i5-13450HX.
  • The display. The 240Hz QHD+ panel is worth more than the 165Hz version.
  • The keyboard. The optional Cherry MX mechanical board is a genuine premium over the standard membrane one — a detail most sellers forget to mention.
  • RAM and storage, including anything you upgraded yourself.
  • The original 180W–240W power adapter. Missing chargers reduce offers, and this laptop cannot charge over USB-C, so the brick is essential.

05 Do I need to wipe the SSD first, and how do I get paid?

Back up anything you want to keep to an external drive or the cloud, then sign out of your Microsoft account and your game launchers — Steam, Epic, EA App, Xbox, and Battle.net — so your libraries and saved payment methods travel with you, not the laptop. A factory reset is welcome but not required.

You do not need to remove the M.2 SSD yourself. Every incoming drive is wiped with NIST-compliant erasure software as a standard part of inspection; drives that can't be wiped due to hardware failure are physically destroyed at no cost. Full details on our Data Erasure Protocols page.

Once your laptop arrives and passes inspection, payment is issued within about two business days via PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, or a mailed check. Shipping is free and insured with a prepaid UPS label — see our shipping instructions for packing tips.
