The HP Laptop 15 (Intel) is HP's mainstream 15.6-inch everyday notebook, sold under the plain "HP Laptop 15" name, with Windows 11 Home and an Intel processor. It's built for browsing, office work, streaming, and light multitasking rather than gaming. This page covers the recent Intel generations: the 15-dw (2019–2021) and the newer 15-fd (2023–2024). Because each was heavily customizable at checkout—different processors, memory, storage, and screens—the exact configuration you own determines its resale value. Use the tool above to pick your specs and see an instant cash offer. Not sure which one you have? The steps below make it simple, and remember: GadgetSalvation runs a complete pre-owned electronics buyback service — you can turn your used HP into cash or put it toward your next laptop, all from the comfort of your home.
First, confirm you have an Intel HP Laptop 15
HP makes many 15.6-inch laptops that look almost identical, and the same "HP Laptop 15" body was sold with either an Intel or an AMD chip. For an accurate quote, we need the full model number, which starts with 15- followed by a few letters and digits (for example, 15-dw0083wm or 15-fd0097nr).
✅ This is the right page if your model number is
- 15-dw, 15-dy… — Intel, 2019–2021
- 15-fd… — Intel, 2023–2024
- (A "t" before the dash — like 15t-fd — just means a build-to-order version of the same Intel laptop and belongs here too.)
❌ This is NOT your page if you see
- 15-ef… or 15-fc… — those are the AMD versions of this laptop (they have their own page)
- HP Pavilion 15, Envy 15, Victus 15, Omen 15, ProBook 15, EliteBook 15 — separate HP lines with their own pages
- 15-da, 15-db, 15-bs, and other older Windows 10 codes — earlier laptops we handle separately
Quick check that it's Intel: look for an "Intel" sticker near the keyboard or trackpad, or check the model number — 15-dw and 15-fd are always Intel. If yours reads 15-ef or 15-fc, it's an AMD unit and belongs on the AMD page.
Where to find the model number: close the laptop and read the printed label on the bottom cover, press Fn + Esc together to open HP System Information, or press the Windows key, type msinfo32, and press Enter to read the "System Model" line. Our HP model-number guide walks through every method with pictures.

- 15-fd (2023–2024): Intel Processor N100/N200 (not accepted for trade-in), Core i3, i5, i7 (12th/13th Gen), and Core Ultra on the newest units
- All are efficient, low-power (U-series / N-series) chips tuned for battery life, not gaming
Graphics (GPU)
- Integrated Intel graphics only — no dedicated/discrete GPU
- 15-dw: Intel UHD Graphics
- 15-fd: Intel UHD or Iris Xe Graphics (varies by CPU)
- There is no NVIDIA GeForce or RTX option — if yours has one, it's a different HP model
Memory (RAM)
- Common factory options: 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB DDR4
- Most Intel configs use two SO-DIMM slots and can be upgraded
- Some entry 15-dw/15-fd units ship with one soldered module plus one open slot — check yours before assuming it's fully upgradable
Storage
- M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD — typically 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB
- Single M.2 slot on most units (no separate 2.5" bay on the slim models)
- Some entry 15-dw units shipped with eMMC storage instead of an SSD
Display & audio
Display
15.6-inch micro-edge, anti-glare screen. Panels vary by config: HD (1366 × 768) on entry units, or Full HD (1920 × 1080) in TN or the much nicer IPS. Some units add a touchscreen option (usually noted in the model name/description). Brightness is typically around 250 nits. This does not have 4K or high-refresh gaming panels.
Audio
Dual speakers (B&O-tuned on many configs), plus HP's True Vision 720p HD webcam with dual-array microphones and, on newer 15-fd units, a physical camera privacy shutter.
Ports & connectivity
Port selection is consistent across both Intel generations, though exact HDMI and USB versions vary slightly by year.
- 1× USB-C (5 Gbps data + DisplayPort on some units) (This is NOT Thunderbolt on this line)
- 2× USB-A (SuperSpeed 5 Gbps)
- 1× HDMI (1.4b or 2.1 depending on generation)
- 1× 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack
- 1× AC smart-pin charging port (barrel connector) — most units charge here, not over USB-C
- 1× SD / multi-format media card reader (present on most, but omitted on some slim 15-fd units — check yours)
- No Ethernet (RJ-45) port — Wi-Fi only
- No optical/DVD drive
Wi-Fi (802.11ac or Wi-Fi 6, by config), Bluetooth, Windows 11 Home
Battery, build & more
Battery & charging
3-cell battery (roughly 41 Whr on most configs), charged via HP's small AC smart-pin adapter (typically 45W or 65W). Some newer units support USB-C charging, but the barrel port is standard.
Camera & mic
HP True Vision 720p HD webcam with dual digital microphones; newer 15-fd units add a physical privacy shutter.
Keyboard
Full-size island-style keyboard with a numeric keypad. A backlit keyboard and a fingerprint reader are optional and only available on higher configs—many base units have neither.
Build & color
Plastic chassis (recent units use recycled/ocean-bound plastics) in colors such as Natural Silver, Jet Black, Spruce Blue, or Pale Rose Gold, depending on year.
Weight
≈ 1.6–1.7 kg (about 3.5–3.75 lb), varying slightly by generation.
Operating system
Windows 11 Home (this page). Older 15-dw units originally shipped with Windows 10 and were upgraded to Windows 11 where eligible.
