The HP ZBook Studio is HP's slim, premium mobile workstation line — built for creators, engineers, and data professionals who need desktop-class power in a thin aluminum chassis. Currently, Gadget Salvation accepts various Intel configurations across five generations: the G7 (2020), G8 (2021), G9 (2022), G10 (2023), and G11 (2024). Because HP sold these in dozens of factory build-to-order combinations, your exact processor and graphics chip are the deciding factors of your final cash offer. Use the drop-down menu above to select your components and see an instant estimate.

First, confirm which ZBook Studio generation you have

All five generations wear the same "ZBook Studio" name and look nearly identical, so the fastest way to tell them apart is the processor generation — printed right in Windows. Press the Windows key, type "msinfo32", and press Enter. Look at the "Processor" line and match the first two digits of the chip number (or the "Ultra" name) to the list below. You can also check the bottom-case label or your original invoice.

  • 16-inch screen (16:10) — bigger, taller panel = a G9 or newer

✅ ZBook Studio G10  (2023)

  • Intel 13th Gen CPU — model starts with "13" (e.g. i7-13700H, i9-13900H)

  • G9 / G10 / G11: PCIe Gen 4, up to 4TB (dual M.2 slots on later builds)

Display & audio

Display

G7 & G8 use a 15.6-inch (16:9) panel: FHD (1920 × 1080) IPS, 4K DreamColor IPS, or 4K OLED touch. G9, G10 & G11 use a larger 16-inch (16:10) panel: WUXGA (1920 × 1200) IPS, a 4K WQUXGA (3840 × 2400) 120Hz DreamColor IPS, or a 4K WQUXGA OLED touch. The taller 16:10 screen is the quickest visual way to tell a G9 or newer from a G7/G8.

Audio

Bang & Olufsen-tuned stereo speakers with a built-in dual-array microphone and (on later generations) AI noise suppression for calls.

Ports & connectivity

Port layout is broadly consistent across the line, with the main change being the switch from Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 4 on the G8 and later models.

Common to all generations
  • 2× Thunderbolt USB-C (Thunderbolt 3 on G7; Thunderbolt 4 on G8–G11; both carry power & DisplayPort)
  • 1× USB-A 3.2 (the Studio is light on USB-A — only one full-size port)
  • 1× HDMI
  • 1× 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack
Notes & differences
  • SD card reader on G7/G8 (full-size SD); microSD on G9/G10
  • No built-in RJ-45 Ethernet on any generation — networking is Wi-Fi only
  • Charges via a barrel DC-in adapter (or USB-C PD on later builds)

Wi-Fi 6 / 6E / Wi-Fi 7 (by generation) Bluetooth 5.x Fingerprint + IR webcam

Battery, build & more

Battery & charging

6-cell lithium battery (~83–86 Whr on most builds), paired with a compact external adapter. Wattage scales with the GPU tier: lighter T-series/RTX-A builds ship a smaller brick, while high-end RTX configurations use a higher-wattage adapter.

Camera & mic

HD 720p webcam with IR for Windows Hello face sign-in (a higher-resolution camera arrives on the G11), plus a dual-array microphone.

Keyboard

Backlit chiclet keyboard. G8 and later offer an optional 16.8-million-color per-key RGB keyboard; the G11 adds an optional Mac-style "Z Command" layout.

Cooling & build

Vapor-chamber cooling in a machined aluminum unibody that passes MIL-STD 810H durability testing.

Weight

≈ 1.7–1.8 kg (3.8–4.0 lb) depending on generation and configuration.

Screen size shortcut

15.6" = G7 or G8.  16" = G9, G10, or G11. Then use the CPU digits to narrow it down further.

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I find out exactly which ZBook Studio generation I have?
The easiest method needs no tools. Press the Windows key, type msinfo32, and press Enter — then read the "Processor" line. If the chip number starts with 10 it's a G7, 11 is a G8, 12 is a G9, and 13 is a G10. If it says "Core Ultra 7" or "Core Ultra 9" instead of i7/i9, you have the G11. You can also flip the laptop over and read the small label on the bottom case, or check your original purchase invoice. For a full walkthrough with photos, see our guide to finding your HP laptop's model number.
02 How is the ZBook Studio different from the ZBook Fury, Power, or Firefly?
HP sells several ZBook lines that are easy to mix up. The Studio is the thin-and-light model with two memory slots (or soldered RAM on G7/G8) and a slim chassis. The Fury is the thick, high-end unit with four RAM slots and HX-class desktop CPUs. The Power sits in the middle, and the Firefly is the lightweight 14/16-inch entry model. Check the name printed above the keyboard or on the bottom label — if it says anything other than "ZBook Studio," it belongs on a different page. Also note the ZBook Create G7: it shares the Studio G7's body but is a separate consumer-graphics model, so pick the option that matches your exact label. Getting this right ensures your quote matches the device you actually own.
03 Can I sell a ZBook Studio with wear, a cracked screen, or that won't turn on?
Yes. We buy these workstations in nearly every condition. Whether yours looks brand new, has scuffs and worn keycaps, a swollen or dead battery, a cracked display, or won't power on at all, just set the matching condition options above and your offer adjusts accordingly. Even a non-working ZBook Studio can still hold residual value because of its premium GPU and quality build, so it's almost always worth getting a quote before recycling it.
04 Which specs raise my ZBook Studio's trade-in value the most?
The graphics chip (GPU) and a processor (CPU) are the single biggest value drivers . For example, a build with an RTX 4000 Ada, RTX 4070/4080, or RTX A5000/A5500 is worth substantially more than an entry T-series or RTX A1000 card. But here's something many people don't realize: instead of listing it yourself and dealing with lowball offers, disputes, and returns, our trade-in service gives you a firm quote up front, a free shipping label, and payment within one to two business days of arrival — no auctions, fees, or haggling. If you're weighing whether these hold value, our blog reviews of the HP ZBook Fury 16 G11 and the HP ZBook Power G11 both break down real-world resale trends across the ZBook family.
05 How do I wipe my data, and how do I get paid?
Back up anything you want to keep to an external drive or the cloud, then sign out of your accounts. You don't need to remove the SSD yourself — our team runs certified multi-pass data sanitation on every drive we receive; details are on our data erasure protocols page. If your ZBook came from a company fleet, also ask your IT department to release it from any Intune/Autopilot or MDM enrollment first, since that can block reuse. Once your laptop arrives and passes testing, payment is approved within about two business days via PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, or a mailed check. Inbound shipping is always free and fully insured. New to the process? Our how it works page walks through every step.
