The Lenovo Flex 7i is Lenovo's premium consumer 2-in-1 convertible, sold in the United States across two Intel generations and two screen sizes: the 14-inch and 16-inch 2022 models (chassis codes 14IAU7 and 16IAU7, 12th Gen Intel Core) and the 14-inch and 16-inch 2023 models (chassis codes 14IRU8 and 16IRU8, 13th Gen Intel Core). All four share the same 360-degree aluminum hinge design, touch display, and pen support — which is exactly why they are so easy to mix up when you go to sell one.

Many people don't realize that an older working convertible laptop still carries real cash value years after purchase, and that you don't need to deal with the selling process, researching shipping carriers, etc. GadgetSalvation.com has been buying used computers directly from consumers since 2008. We made it super-easy: you pick your configuration, we provide a free shipping label, and you get paid. See exactly how the whole process works on our How it works page, or browse everything we buy on our sell your Lenovo laptop page. When calculating an offer, be sure to select the correct processor option, working and cosmetic condition in the calculator tool above to see an instant cash offer for your exact Flex 7i.

Identify your exact Lenovo Flex 7i

Lenovo prints the real model identifier on the underside of the laptop, not on the box and not in the Windows Start menu. Close the lid, flip the laptop over, and look for a small white or silver label near the hinge. Look for a line that reads "Model: 82…" followed by a longer code ending in 14IAU7, 16IAU7, 14IRU8, or 16IRU8. That four-to-six character suffix is the only piece you need.

If the label is worn off or unreadable, use Windows instead: press the Windows key + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter. The window that opens shows "System Model" and "Processor." Those two lines together are enough to place your machine in the table below. Our Lenovo model number guide walks through both methods with pictures.

✅ Flex 7i 14" (2022) — 14IAU7

  • Released 2022
  • Processor reads i5-1235U or i7-1255U (12th Gen, "12" prefix)
  • 14-inch touchscreen, 16:10 aspect ratio
  • No number pad on the keyboard

✅ Flex 7i 16" (2022) — 16IAU7

  • Released 2022
  • Processor reads i5-1235U or i7-1255U (12th Gen, "12" prefix)
  • 16-inch touchscreen, 16:10 aspect ratio
  • Full number pad to the right of the keyboard

✅ Flex 7i 14" (2023) — 14IRU8

  • Released 2023
  • Processor reads i5-1335U or i7-1355U (13th Gen, "13" prefix)
  • 14-inch touchscreen, 16:10 aspect ratio
  • No number pad on the keyboard

✅ Flex 7i 16" (2023) — 16IRU8

  • Released 2023
  • Processor reads i5-1335U or i7-1355U (13th Gen, "13" prefix)
  • 16-inch touchscreen, 16:10 aspect ratio
  • Full number pad to the right of the keyboard

The fastest shortcut: look at the two digits immediately after the dash in your processor name. i7-1255U means a 2022 model. i7-1355U means a 2023 model. Screen size settles the rest.

❌ Machines that are not a Flex 7i

Lenovo Yoga 7i

This is the single most common mix-up, because the Yoga 7i and the Flex 7i are close siblings sold through different retail channels — same convertible concept, overlapping chassis. If your underside label ends in a code such as 14IAL7, 16IAP7, or 14IRL8, or if the lid says "Yoga," you have a Yoga 7i, and it needs a different quote page. Get a price on our Lenovo trade-in page instead.

Lenovo Flex 5i / IdeaPad Flex 5

The step-down model. It uses a lower-tier processor (Core i3, Core i5 in the 1215U/1155G7 family, or an AMD Ryzen chip), a more plastic-heavy chassis, and a dimmer panel. If your processor line reads Ryzen anything, it is definitively not a Flex 7i — every Flex 7i is Intel-only.

Lenovo Yoga 9i

The flagship above this line. Identified by its rotating soundbar hinge (the speaker strip runs along the hinge itself) and, on many units, a dual OLED display. If your hinge has a visible speaker bar built into it, you have a Yoga 9i.

Lenovo ThinkBook / ThinkPad Yoga

Business-class convertibles. These carry a ThinkPad or ThinkBook logo on the lid, usually a red TrackPoint nub on the keyboard, and often a corporate management profile that must be removed before resale. Different family, different quote path.

Core hardware configurations

Processor (CPU) — 2022 models (IAU7)

  • Intel Core i5-1235U — 10 cores (2 performance + 8 efficient), 12 threads, up to 4.4 GHz
  • Intel Core i7-1255U — 10 cores (2 performance + 8 efficient), 12 threads, up to 4.7 GHz
  • 12th Gen Intel Core, low-power "U" series — tuned for battery life and a thin convertible chassis, not sustained gaming loads

Processor (CPU) — 2023 models (IRU8)

  • Intel Core i5-1335U — 10 cores (2 performance + 8 efficient), 12 threads, up to 4.6 GHz
  • Intel Core i7-1355U — 10 cores (2 performance + 8 efficient), 12 threads, up to 5.0 GHz
  • 13th Gen Intel Core, low-power "U" series — a clock-speed refresh of the 2022 platform rather than a redesign

Graphics (GPU)

  • Intel Iris Xe Graphics — integrated, on every configuration
  • No discrete NVIDIA or AMD graphics card was ever offered in the Flex 7i. If your machine has a separate GeForce or Radeon GPU listed in Device Manager, it is a different Lenovo model
  • Drives the built-in touch panel plus external monitors over Thunderbolt or HDMI

Memory (RAM)

  • LPDDR5 memory, dual-channel
  • Shipped in 8GB and 16GB capacities
  • Soldered to the motherboard — there are no memory slots and no upgrade path. Whatever your Flex 7i shipped with is what it will always have

Storage

  • M.2 PCIe NVMe solid state drive (SSD)
  • 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB shipping capacities
  • Single drive bay using the compact M.2 2242 (short) form factor — not the standard 2280 length found in most laptops, which limits aftermarket replacement options

Why soldered memory matters at resale

  • Because RAM cannot be added later, the memory tier your Flex 7i left the factory with is a permanent value ceiling
  • A 16GB unit consistently commands a stronger cash offer than an otherwise identical 8GB unit
  • Storage is the one component a buyer can still upgrade, so it moves value less dramatically than memory does

Display & audio

Display — 14-inch models

14-inch IPS touchscreen in a 16:10 aspect ratio, most commonly WUXGA (1920 × 1200) at 300 nits with an anti-fingerprint coating. Higher-tier 14-inch units were sold with a sharper 2.2K (2240 × 1400) panel. Every panel supports 10-point multitouch and active pen input.

Display — 16-inch models

16-inch IPS touchscreen in a 16:10 aspect ratio, sold as WUXGA (1920 × 1200) or as a higher-resolution 2.5K (2560 × 1600) panel on premium configurations. The taller 16:10 shape provides noticeably more vertical workspace than an older 16:9 laptop screen.

Pen support

Compatible with the Lenovo Digital Pen / Lenovo Precision Pen 2 (active, battery-powered). Some retail bundles included the pen in the box. Including the original pen and charger with your trade-in helps your offer — a complete package is worth more than a bare laptop.

Audio

Stereo speaker system tuned with Dolby Atmos, paired with a dual-array microphone setup for video calls. The 16-inch chassis houses the larger speaker enclosures in both sizes.

Ports & connectivity

The Flex 7i is a thin convertible, so its port selection is deliberately compact. Knowing what your unit has helps confirm you are on the right quote page.

Left side
  • 2× USB-C with Thunderbolt 4 (Both handle charging, data, and external displays — this laptop charges over USB-C, so there is no barrel-style power jack)
  • 1× HDMI video output
  • 1× 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack
Right side & controls
  • 1× USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 (16-inch models add a second USB-A port)
  • Power button with integrated fingerprint reader
  • Physical webcam privacy shutter or e-shutter switch, depending on configuration
  • No Ethernet jack — Wi-Fi only, on every Flex 7i ever built

Wi-Fi 6 / 6E, Bluetooth 5.1+, Thunderbolt 4, USB-C charging, fingerprint reader, no Ethernet, no discrete GPU

Battery, build & more

Battery & charging

Integrated lithium-polymer battery in the 71 Whr class, charged through either USB-C port with a compact 65W USB-C adapter. Because it charges over USB-C, a lost original charger is easy for a buyer to replace — but sending yours in still helps your offer.

Hinge & chassis

360-degree dual hinge that rotates through laptop, tent, stand, and tablet modes. Aluminum construction on the lid and deck. Hinge stiffness and screen wobble are the two things our technicians check first on any convertible — a loose or cracked hinge is the most common condition deduction on this model.

Camera & security

Integrated webcam with privacy shutter, infrared face-recognition support on many configurations for Windows Hello sign-in, plus the fingerprint reader built into the power button.

Keyboard

Backlit chiclet keyboard. The 16-inch models include a dedicated numeric keypad; the 14-inch models do not. This is the fastest way to tell the two sizes apart in a photo.

Weight

14-inch models: roughly 1.5 kg (3.3 lb). 16-inch models: roughly 2.1 kg (4.6 lb). Exact weight varies slightly by panel choice.

Operating system

Shipped with Windows 11 Home on the majority of retail configurations. Windows edition does not affect your trade-in value — we reimage every machine regardless.

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I find out exactly which Lenovo Flex 7i I have?
You have two easy options and neither requires any technical knowledge. Option one: close the lid, turn the laptop upside down, and read the small label near the hinge. Look for a code ending in 14IAU7, 16IAU7, 14IRU8, or 16IRU8 — that suffix tells you the size and the year. Option two: with Windows open, hold the Windows key and press R, type msinfo32, and press Enter. Read the "System Model" and "Processor" lines. A processor starting with i5-12 or i7-12 means a 2022 model; i5-13 or i7-13 means a 2023 model. Our Lenovo model number guide shows both methods step by step. If you still aren't sure after trying, submit a custom quote request and a human on our team will identify it for you.
02 My laptop says "Yoga 7i" — is that the same thing as a Flex 7i?
No — and this is the mistake we see most often on this model. Lenovo sells extremely similar convertibles under both the Flex and Yoga names through different retail channels, so the two look nearly identical side by side. The underside label settles it: a Flex 7i ends in 14IAU7, 16IAU7, 14IRU8, or 16IRU8, while a Yoga 7i ends in codes such as 14IAL7, 16IAP7, or 14IRL8. Also check for a Ryzen processor — every Flex 7i is Intel-only, so a Ryzen chip means you have a different Lenovo model entirely. If yours turns out to be a Yoga, a Flex 5i, or an IdeaPad, you can still sell it to us; just start on our Lenovo laptop trade-in page and pick the right model.
03 Can I still sell a Flex 7i with a cracked touchscreen, a loose hinge, or a weak battery?
Yes. We buy convertibles in every condition, including ones most people assume are only worth recycling. Cracked or delaminating touch glass, a hinge that no longer holds position, a battery that drains in an hour, dead pixels, a non-responsive touch layer, missing keycaps, or a unit that will not power on at all — all of these still have value to us. Just describe the condition honestly in the selector above, and your quote adjusts to match. Being accurate up front is what keeps your final payout identical to the number you were quoted. One note specific to this model: because the RAM is soldered and the SSD uses the shorter M.2 2242 format, a Flex 7i that has been opened up and modified should be described as such so we can price it correctly.
04 What actually drives my Flex 7i trade-in value up or down?
In rough order of impact: memory tier comes first, because the Flex 7i's RAM is soldered to the board and can never be upgraded — a 16GB unit is permanently more useful than an 8GB one, and the market prices it that way. Generation comes next: a 2023 IRU8 with a 13th Gen chip outvalues a 2022 IAU7 with a 12th Gen chip. Then consider processor tier (i7 over i5), storage capacity (1TB over 512GB over 256GB), and panel resolution (2.2K and 2.5K displays over standard WUXGA). Cosmetic condition and hinge integrity apply on top of all of that. Many people don't realize a three- or four-year-old convertible still returns meaningful cash rather than sitting in a drawer losing value every month — and unlike a marketplace listing, our offer is fixed before you ship, with no buyers to meet, no fees deducted, and no chargebacks.
05 How do I wipe my data, and how do I get paid?
Before you ship, back up anything you want to keep to an external drive or cloud storage, then sign out of your Microsoft account and run Settings → System → Recovery → Reset this PC → Remove everything. If your Flex 7i was ever issued or managed by an employer or school, ask their IT department to release it from Microsoft Intune or Autopilot first — a device still enrolled in corporate management cannot be resold and will need to be returned to you. You don't need to remove the SSD yourself; every drive that reaches us goes through certified multi-pass sanitization, regardless of what you did on your end, as described in our data erasure protocols. Once your laptop arrives and passes functional testing, we issue payment within two business days via PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, or a paper check mailed to you. The prepaid shipping label is free and insured in both directions.
