Looking to sell your Lenovo Legion Y730 gaming laptop for cash? Released in 2018, the Y730 paired a premium aluminum build with per-key RGB lighting and 8th-gen Intel gaming hardware — a step up in design and lighting from the cheaper Legion Y530/Y7000, and the direct successor to the older Legion Y720. It came in two screen sizes: the 15.6-inch Y730-15ICH and the 17.3-inch Y730-17ICH. Both share the same core platform — a choice of Core i5 or i7 processors and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti — but differ in size, weight, and battery. Because your exact processor, memory, storage, and screen determine the resale value, identifying your precise configuration is what locks in an accurate quote. This page covers the 2018 Y730 (both sizes) — if you have the older Y720, the higher-end Y740 (which uses RTX graphics), or the budget Y530/Y7000, those are different laptops with different values. Select your components using our tool above for an instant cash offer, or trade it in toward your next device — more on our trade-in service below.

Which Legion do you have?

Several 2017–2019 Legion models look similar. The reliable way to tell them apart is the model code on the sticker on the bottom of the laptop — look for Y730-15ICH or Y730-17ICH. The two quick physical tells that separate the Y730 from its siblings: it has an aluminum lid and body (the budget Y530/Y7000 are largely plastic), and it has per-key RGB backlighting driven by Corsair iCUE software, where the Y530 has only single-color white backlighting. If your laptop uses an RTX 20-series graphics card, you have the newer Y740, not the Y730.

Y730-15ICH — 15.6-inch

  • 15.6" FHD IPS display (60Hz or 144Hz)
  • 57 Whr battery
  • ≈ 2.2 kg (4.8 lb)

Y730-17ICH — 17.3-inch

  • 17.3" FHD IPS display (60Hz or 144Hz)
  • 76 Whr battery + 3W subwoofer
  • ≈ 2.9 kg (6.4 lb)

Core hardware configurations

Processor (CPU)

  • Intel Core i5-8300H — 4 cores, 8 threads, up to 4.0 GHz boost, 8MB cache
  • Intel Core i7-8750H — 6 cores, 12 threads, up to 4.1 GHz boost, 9MB cache
  • Both are 8th-gen Intel “Coffee Lake” H-series chips (Intel HM370 chipset)

Graphics (GPU)

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti — 4GB GDDR5 (the only GPU offered on the Y730)
  • Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles low-power tasks with automatic switching
  • Note: the Y730 was never sold with a GTX 1060 or RTX card — those belong to other Legion models

Memory (RAM)

  • DDR4-2666, dual-channel capable
  • Factory options of 8GB or 16GB
  • Two SO-DIMM sockets, user-upgradable to a maximum of 32GB

Storage

  • Dual-drive design: one M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD plus one 2.5" SATA hard drive (5400 or 7200 rpm)
  • Common SSD sizes: 128GB / 256GB / 512GB; HDD up to 2TB
  • Some configurations shipped with 16GB Intel Optane Memory instead of a full SSD

Display & audio

Display

Both sizes use an anti-glare FHD (1920 × 1080) IPS panel at 300 nits, 16:9, with 72% color gamut, offered in either a standard 60Hz or a faster 144Hz refresh rate. The 15.6-inch panel measures 15.6", the 17.3-inch panel measures 17.3". The 144Hz version is worth more at resale, so note which refresh rate you have.

Audio

Stereo 2W speakers with the Dolby Atmos Sound System and a dual-array microphone. The 17-inch model adds a 3W subwoofer that the 15-inch model does not have.

Ports & connectivity

The Y730 routes most of its heavier connections out the back, keeping cables away from your mouse hand. The port layout is the same on both the 15-inch and 17-inch models.

Left & Right Side
  • 1× USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 with Thunderbolt 3 (left side)
  • 1× USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 (Always On, for charging devices) (right side)
  • 1× 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack (left side)
Rear
  • 2× USB-A 3.1 Gen 2
  • 1× HDMI 2.0
  • 1× Mini DisplayPort 1.4
  • 1× RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet
  • 1× AC power adapter jack
  • 1× security keyhole

Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac 2×2) Bluetooth 4.1 Gigabit Ethernet Thunderbolt 3

Battery, build & more

Battery & charging

The 15-inch model uses an integrated 57 Whr battery; the 17-inch model uses a larger 76 Whr battery. Both charge from a 135W slim-tip AC adapter. Battery life is modest for a gaming laptop of this era.

Camera & mic

720p HD (1.0MP) fixed-focus webcam with a dual-array microphone. Note the camera is positioned below the display on this generation, an unusual placement.

Keyboard & lighting

Full 6-row backlit keyboard with anti-ghosting and per-key RGB lighting controlled through Corsair iCUE software, plus programmable macro keys. The thermal vent strip and left/right side accents also light up. This per-key RGB is a key feature that separates the Y730 from the single-color Y530.

Build & finish

Aluminum lid and body in black, giving the Y730 a more understated, premium look than most gaming laptops in its class.

Weight

15-inch: ≈ 2.2 kg (4.8 lb). 17-inch: ≈ 2.9 kg (6.4 lb).

Dimensions

15-inch: 361 × 267 × 20.0–22.5 mm. 17-inch: 413 × 305 × 22.0–24.1 mm.

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I confirm I have a Legion Y730, and which size?
Flip the laptop over and read the sticker on the bottom panel. The model code will read Y730-15ICH (15.6-inch) or Y730-17ICH (17.3-inch). If it instead reads Y720, Y740, Y530, or Y7000, you have a different Legion model and will want its own page. A couple of quick physical checks also help: the Y730 has an aluminum lid and body plus per-key RGB lighting, whereas the budget Y530/Y7000 use more plastic and a single white backlight, and the higher-end Y740 uses RTX graphics. Our Lenovo model-number guide shows exactly where to find the code, and the general find-your-laptop-model-number guide covers reading your specs inside Windows.
02 Can I sell a Legion Y730 with cosmetic wear or hardware issues?
Yes. We buy the Y730 in every condition. Whether yours is clean, has dents or scuffs on the aluminum, a battery that no longer holds a charge, loud or failing fans, a flexing or loose hinge, dead pixels, or won't power on, just set the matching condition grade in the tool above to lock in a firm cash value. Honest grading up front gives you the most accurate quote.
03 Should I wipe or remove my drives before shipping?
Back up your personal files and game saves to an external drive or the cloud, then sign out of your Microsoft account and Windows profile before boxing the laptop. The Y730 can hold two drives — an M.2 SSD and a 2.5" hard drive — so make sure you've backed up both if yours has an HDD as well as an SSD. You don't need to open the laptop or remove the drives yourself; our team runs certified multi-pass data sanitization on every incoming drive. See our data erasure protocols for the full process.
04 Which configuration raises my Y730 trade-in value the most?
Since every Y730 uses the same GTX 1050 Ti, the value differences come from the rest of the configuration. A Core i7-8750H is worth more than the Core i5-8300H, a 144Hz display is worth more than the 60Hz panel, and larger memory (up to 32GB) and a bigger SSD lift the offer further. Condition and battery health then adjust from there. If you're upgrading rather than just cashing out, our trade-in service lets you put that value straight toward your next device — a lot of sellers don't realize this is an option. You can see how it works on our How It Works page, and first-time sellers may find this walkthrough helpful: Sell Your Laptop: First-Time Seller Edition.
05 How fast do I get paid, and who covers shipping?
Once your Legion Y730 reaches our facility and passes functional testing, payment is approved within two business days. You can choose a fast electronic payout — PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or CashApp — or a physical check by mail. Your prepaid, insured shipping label is completely free from start to finish.
