The MSI Cyborg 15 is a budget-focused 15.6-inch gaming laptop, instantly recognizable by its Translucent Black chassis — MSI molded see-through material into the sides, bottom panel, and keycaps so you can glimpse the internals, a cyberpunk design language nothing else in their lineup uses. Five generations have carried the Cyborg 15 name across two different chassis: the A12V (2023, 12th Gen Core i7), A13V (2023–2024, 13th Gen Core i7), and AI A1V (2024, Intel Core Ultra 7) built on the original body with NVIDIA RTX 40-series graphics, then the redesigned B13W and B2RW (2025–2026) with NVIDIA RTX 50-series graphics, a bigger battery, and USB-C charging. Every generation keeps two upgradable memory slots rather than soldered RAM, which is unusual at this price and means your exact configuration really matters to the offer. If you're ready to sell, our gaming laptop trade-in program buys these outright — find your model code below, then use the tool above for an instant cash offer.
Is this your laptop? How to identify your Cyborg 15
You don't need to know anything about computers for this. Because several generations share a body, the model code is what matters — and every character in it means something.
✅ Method 1 — Flip it over (works even if it won't turn on)
- Power off, close the lid, and turn the laptop upside down on a towel or soft surface.
- Find the printed label and look for the line marked Model.
- You want the full code — for example Cyborg 15 B2RWFKG, not just "Cyborg 15."
- Retail units add a dash and three digits, like B2RWFKG-421US or A13VE-218US. The part before the dash identifies your generation.
- If the print is too small, photograph it with your phone and zoom in.
✅ Method 2 — Check it in Windows
- Click the Windows icon in the taskbar and type System Information, then open the app.
- Or press Windows key + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter.
- System Model gives you the full code; Processor and Installed Physical Memory give us the rest.
- To confirm your graphics card, open Device Manager and expand Display adapters.
- Write all four down before you start your quote.
✅ Decoding the model code
- First block = processor generation. A12 = 12th Gen Core i7 · A13 = 13th Gen Core i7 · A1V ("AI A1V") = Intel Core Ultra 7 · B13W = 13th Gen Core i7 with RTX 50 graphics · B2RW = Intel Core 200H series
- E = entry GPU (RTX 4050 on A-series, RTX 5050 on B-series)
- F = mid GPU (RTX 4060 on A-series, RTX 5060 on B-series)
- G = top GPU (RTX 5070, B-series only)
- Trailing K on an A13 model = upgraded trim with a 4-Zone RGB keyboard and Wi-Fi 6E instead of a blue backlight and Wi-Fi 6
- So B2RWGKG = Core 200H + RTX 5070. A13VE = 13th Gen i7 + RTX 4050 + blue backlight.
❌ This is not a Cyborg 15 if you see any of these
- A solid, opaque chassis with no see-through panels → MSI Thin 15, Katana 15, Sword 15, Pulse 15, or Stealth 15. The translucency is the Cyborg signature.
- A 14-inch screen → MSI Cyborg 14, a smaller sibling with the same styling.
- A 16-inch or 17-inch screen → Katana, Vector, Crosshair, Raider, or Titan series.
- An AMD Ryzen processor → likely the MSI Cyborg A15 AI, a separate AMD-based model. Every Cyborg 15 covered here is Intel.
- Per-key RGB where each key changes color individually → a higher-tier MSI. The Cyborg 15 tops out at 4-zone lighting.
Need more help? Our MSI model number guide walks through both methods, and our blog covers where to find your MSI laptop's model number if the bottom label has worn off.

Graphics — and an honest note on power limits
- RTX 40-series (A-series): RTX 4050 6GB GDDR6, 194 AI TOPS · RTX 4060 8GB GDDR6, 233 AI TOPS. Both capped at 45W.
- RTX 50-series (B-series): RTX 5050 8GB GDDR7, 440 AI TOPS at 45W · RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7, 572 AI TOPS at 55W · RTX 5070 8GB GDDR7, 798 AI TOPS at 60W. Blackwell architecture with DLSS 4.
- These are conservative power limits. The same GPUs run at 100W or more in thicker laptops, and independent reviewers have measured the Cyborg's gaming performance well below other machines using identical cards. That's a real factor in resale value, and we'd rather you know it up front than be surprised by the offer.
- All configurations still deliver ray tracing and DLSS frame generation.
Memory — upgradable, and that matters
- Two standard SO-DIMM slots on every generation. Unlike most laptops at this price, the RAM is not soldered — it can be removed and replaced.
- Ceiling is 64GB on A12V and A13V, and 96GB on the AI A1V, B13W, and B2RW.
- Modules should be installed in matched pairs for dual-channel performance.
- If you upgraded the memory yourself, quote the capacity currently installed. It genuinely raises your offer, and it's one of the few upgrades that carries into resale value.
Storage
- One M.2 SSD slot (NVMe PCIe Gen 4) on every generation — there is no second drive bay, so any capacity increase meant replacing the original drive.
- Common factory capacities were 512GB and 1TB.
- MSI advises using a service center for SSD replacement on this chassis, so many units still carry their original drive.
- If you swapped yours, quote the capacity installed now.
Display & audio
Display — A-series (A12V, A13V, AI A1V)
15.6-inch Full HD (1920 × 1080) IPS-Level panel at 144Hz, 16:9 aspect ratio. That was the only option — no higher resolution, no OLED, no touchscreen. If your machine has any of those, it isn't an A-series Cyborg 15.
Display — B-series (B13W, B2RW)
Same 15.6-inch FHD 144Hz IPS-Level panel as standard, but the top RTX 5070 configurations (B13WGKG and B2RWGKG) added a 15.6-inch QHD 2560 × 1440 panel at 165Hz — the first higher-resolution option in Cyborg 15 history. A QHD 165Hz unit is worth noticeably more than an FHD one, so check Settings → System → Display → Advanced display to confirm your resolution and refresh rate before quoting.
Panel condition notes
These are IPS LCD panels, not OLED, so there is no burn-in risk on any Cyborg 15. What does affect the offer is dead or stuck pixels, backlight bleed along the edges, and pressure marks. Check on a full black screen and a full white screen before selecting your condition. Reviewers have also measured fairly limited color coverage on the base FHD panels, which is normal for this price class and not a defect.
Audio & webcam
Two 2-watt stereo speakers on every generation. The B-series added a dedicated array microphone, a 3D Noise Reduction (3DNR) webcam, and a physical webcam privacy shutter. The camera itself stayed at 720p, 30fps throughout all five generations — a 720p webcam does not mean you have an older unit.
Ports & connectivity
Port selection is consistent across all five generations, but the speeds and charging capability changed with the B-series redesign. This is one of the clearest ways to tell which family you own.
- 2× USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1
- 1× USB Type-C with DisplayPort (Gen 1 on A12V and A13V; Gen 2 on the AI A1V — no Power Delivery charging)
- 1× HDMI 2.1 (4K at 60Hz)
- 1× RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet
- 1× 3.5mm combo audio jack · 1× Kensington lock · 1× DC-in barrel connector
- 2× USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 2 (double the transfer speed)
- 1× USB Type-C with DisplayPort and Power Delivery 3.0 (you can charge over USB-C, though MSI recommends the bundled adapter for full performance)
- 1× HDMI 2.1 (4K at 60Hz)
- 1× RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet
- 1× 3.5mm combo audio jack · 1× Kensington lock · 1× DC-in barrel connector · optional fingerprint reader
Not included on any Cyborg 15: no Thunderbolt, no SD or microSD card reader, no Windows Hello infrared camera, and no OLED, touchscreen, or 4K display option. Wireless is Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E depending on generation — no Cyborg 15 shipped with Wi-Fi 7.
Wi-Fi 6 / 6E Bluetooth 5.2 / 5.3 Gigabit Ethernet HDMI 2.1 Upgradable RAM
Battery, build & more
Battery & charging — A-series
3-cell, 53.5Whr lithium-polymer battery, paired with a 120W barrel-plug adapter on every configuration. There is no USB-C charging on these models, so that specific brick is the only way to power the machine — include it, because a buyer can't substitute a generic charger.
Battery & charging — B-series
4-cell, 55.2Whr battery. The RTX 5050 and 5060 models ship with a 120W adapter; the RTX 5070 models (B13WGKG, B2RWGKG) ship with a 150W adapter. These also support USB-C Power Delivery charging. Real-world battery life is short on any configuration — reviewers measured roughly three hours — which is typical for a gaming laptop and not a fault.
Chassis & finish
Translucent Black across every generation, with see-through material on the sides, bottom panel, and keycaps. The B-series redesigned the lid — MSI replaced the heart-shaped cutout of the earlier models with an exoskeleton-style pattern, so a quick look at the lid separates the two families. The translucent plastic shows scuffs and hairline scratches more readily than a painted finish, so inspect it in good light.
Keyboard
Full-size backlit keyboard with highlighted neon WASD keycaps and sci-fi accent styling on the space bar, arrow keys, and power button. Backlighting is single-color blue on A12V and non-K A13V models, and 4-Zone RGB on A13V K models, the AI A1V, and every B-series model. The AI A1V and B-series also add a dedicated Copilot key.
Cooling
MSI Cooler Boost thermal design with an on-demand maximum-fan function. The B-series moved to a shared heat-pipe layout that balances cooling between the processor and graphics. Reviewers note the single-fan design runs loud at full tilt. Grinding, rattling, or a fan that no longer spins is worth reporting when you select your condition — it's a common wear point and does not disqualify the machine.
Size & weight
A-series: 359.36 × 250.34 × 21.95–22.9 mm, 1.98 kg (4.37 lb).
B-series: 359.3 × 245.25 × 22.15–23.15 mm, 2.1 kg (4.63 lb).
The B-series is slightly shallower but a little heavier, mostly from the larger battery. All shipped with Windows 11 Home or Pro.
Frequently asked questions
If Windows still boots, press Windows key + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter. The System Information window shows System Model, Processor, and Installed Physical Memory in one screen. For storage, open File Explorer, right-click the C: drive, and choose Properties. To confirm the graphics card, open Device Manager and expand Display adapters — you'll see the exact RTX model listed there.
One extra step for B-series owners: check Settings → System → Display → Advanced display to see whether you have the standard 1920 × 1080 at 144Hz panel or the upgraded 2560 × 1440 at 165Hz panel. That difference affects your offer.
Our MSI model number guide covers both methods with screenshots, and our general guide to finding a laptop model number adds more approaches if the label is gone.
Step 1 — RTX 40 or RTX 50? Open Device Manager and expand Display adapters. An RTX 4050 or 4060 means you have an A-series (A12V, A13V, or AI A1V). An RTX 5050, 5060, or 5070 means you have a B-series (B13W or B2RW). Physically: A-series has a heart-shaped cutout in the lid design and cannot charge over USB-C; B-series has an exoskeleton-pattern lid, a webcam privacy shutter, and can charge over USB-C.
Step 2 — Which one within the family? Read the Processor line in System Information. Core i7-12650H = A12V. Core i7-13620H = A13V if paired with RTX 40 graphics, or B13W if paired with RTX 50 graphics. Core Ultra 7 155H = Cyborg 15 AI A1V. Core 7 240H or Core 5 210H = B2RW.
Step 3 — Trim level (A13V only). Look at the keyboard backlight. A single shade of blue means a standard A13VE or A13VF. Four separately colored zones means a K model (A13VEK, A13VFK) with the Wi-Fi 6E upgrade. Every AI A1V and B-series model has 4-zone RGB as standard.
Other MSI models people confuse with this one. MSI Thin 15, Katana 15, Sword 15, Pulse 15, and Stealth 15 are all 15.6-inch MSI gaming laptops at similar prices — but only the Cyborg has the translucent see-through chassis with visible internals. If yours is solid opaque plastic or metal, it's one of the others. The Cyborg 14 shares the styling in a 14-inch body. The Cyborg A15 AI uses AMD Ryzen rather than Intel. And if every individual key can be set to its own color, you have per-key RGB, which no Cyborg 15 ever offered.
Entry-level and regional variants. MSI also sold lower-tier Cyborg 15 builds with older graphics — codes such as A12UC (Core i5-12450H with RTX 2050) and A13UC (Core i5-13420H with RTX 3050). Newer C13W and C2W entry models exist as well. If your code doesn't match anything above, request a custom quote and our team will identify it for you.
Upgrades work in your favor on this model, which is unusual. Because every Cyborg 15 uses two standard SO-DIMM memory slots rather than soldered RAM, any memory you added is real, permanent value — quote the capacity installed today, not what the machine shipped with. The same goes for a larger SSD. Just note there's only one M.2 slot, so you can't have both the factory drive and an upgrade installed at once.
Three things specific to this chassis. The translucent plastic scratches more visibly than painted surfaces, so inspect the palm rest and side panels carefully before selecting a cosmetic grade. The barrel-plug charger is a model-specific part and including it noticeably helps the offer — this matters most on A-series machines, which cannot charge over USB-C at all, and on RTX 5070 models, which need the higher-output 150W adapter. And if the battery is visibly swollen, please tell us so we can route it for safe packing.
Being upfront about damage never costs you money. It just means the quoted number is the number you actually get paid.
The QHD 165Hz display on the top B-series configurations is the next big lever, since it was only offered on RTX 5070 units and is comparatively rare. After that comes memory capacity — and this is where Cyborg 15 owners most often leave money on the table. Because the RAM is socketed rather than soldered, plenty of these machines have been upgraded to 32GB or more and sellers forget to mention it. Quote what's actually installed. Storage capacity, processor generation, cosmetic condition of the translucent panels, battery health, and having the correct charger round out the offer.
One honest caveat: because MSI runs these GPUs at reduced power limits to fit the slim single-fan chassis, a Cyborg 15 won't be valued the same as a thicker laptop carrying the identical graphics card. That's the market reality, not a knock on your specific machine.
Many people don't realize that Gadget Salvation runs a full trade-in service, not a recycling drop-off — we've been buying used electronics for cash since 2008. You get an instant online quote, a prepaid UPS shipping label at no cost, free inspection by our technicians, and payment within two business days of your laptop arriving. No listing to write, no buyer to meet in a parking lot, no returns to process, and no chargeback risk. Our pricing algorithm pulls live resale data from eBay and Amazon, so the figure reflects today's market rather than a fixed depreciation table. Gaming laptops hold value better than general-purpose machines, so it's worth checking before you assume an older Cyborg isn't worth selling.
For more context, our blog covers the factors that determine laptop resale value and how to get the most money from a laptop trade-in. You can also browse the full MSI buyback catalog or our gaming laptop page.
1. Sign out of and deauthorize your game platforms: Steam, Epic Games, Battle.net, Xbox / Game Pass, EA App, and Ubisoft Connect. Several limit how many machines can be authorized at once.
2. If your unit has the optional fingerprint reader, remove your enrolled fingerprints under Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options before resetting.
3. Reset Windows: Settings → System → Recovery → Reset this PC → Remove everything. When prompted, choose Clean data for a more thorough wipe.
4. Remove the laptop from your Microsoft account at account.microsoft.com → Devices so it's no longer associated with you.
5. Leave it at the out-of-box setup screen and shut it down.
You do not need to remove the SSD yourself. Once your laptop reaches our facility, every drive is wiped with NIST-compliant erasure software that goes well beyond a standard factory reset, and any drive that fails or can't be read is physically destroyed and recycled. The full process is documented on our data erasure protocols page.
Payment is issued within two business days of your laptop arriving and passing inspection. Choose PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, or a mailed company check. Shipping is free and insured in both directions — we email you a prepaid UPS label, and all you need is a sturdy box. Pack the charger alongside the laptop and add padding around the corners, since the translucent side panels are the most likely part to crack in transit.
