The MSI GS66 Stealth is MSI's thin-and-light 15.6-inch gaming line, built in an all-black aluminum chassis and sold across four hardware generations between 2020 and 2022: the 10S series (10SE, 10SF, 10SFS, 10SGS — board MS-16V1, 2020), the 10U series (10UE, 10UG, 10UH — board MS-16V3, early 2021), the 11U series (11UE, 11UG, 11UH — board MS-16V4, 2021), and the 12U series, sold as "Stealth GS66" (12UE, 12UG, 12UGS, 12UH, 12UHS — board MS-16V5, 2022). All four look almost identical from the outside, so the suffix after the number is what actually sets your resale value: it tells us the processor generation and the exact graphics chip inside. If you are looking to sell your GS66 Stealth online, Gadget Salvation buys it directly for cash — no listing, no buyer messages, no selling fees. Pick your processor and graphics card in the tool above to see your instant offer.

Which GS66 Stealth do I have?

Every GS66 Stealth carries a short model code such as 11UG or 12UHS. The two digits are the Intel processor generation; the letters are the graphics tier. Match yours below.

Not sure which one is sitting on your desk? Three ways to check, from easiest to most precise:

  • Flip it over. The sticker on the bottom cover lists both the retail name (for example, GS66 Stealth 11UE-662) and the board code (MS-16V1, MS-16V3, MS-16V4, or MS-16V5).
  • Ask Windows. Hold the Windows key and press R, type msinfo32, then press Enter. "System Model" shows the board code and "Processor" shows your exact chip. Our guide to finding your processor type walks through it with screenshots.
  • Check the graphics chip. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, click Performance, then click the GPU entry on the left. The RTX model name appears in the top-right corner.

Battery, build & more

Battery & charging

Every GS66 Stealth uses the same 4-cell 99.9 Wh lithium-polymer battery — deliberately sized just under the 100 Wh ceiling that US airlines allow in a carry-on without prior approval. Chargers differ: the 10SE shipped with a 180W slim adapter, the rest of the 2020 and 2021 models with a 230W slim adapter, and the 2022 models with a 240W adapter.

Camera & security

720p HD webcam with infrared sensors for Windows Hello face sign-in, paired with a built-in microphone array. The 2022 models add a fingerprint reader on the palm rest; earlier generations do not have one.

Keyboard & trackpad

SteelSeries 84-key per-key RGB backlit keyboard with anti-ghosting, controlled through MSI Center or Dragon Center. There is no number pad — the 15.6-inch chassis is too narrow for one — and no RGB light bar on the front lip.

Cooling

Cooler Boost Trinity+ with three fans, seven heat pipes, and 0.1 mm fan blades exhausting through the rear and side vents. Dust buildup in these thin blades is the single most common reason a used GS66 Stealth runs loud or throttles.

Weight

≈ 2.1 kg (4.63 lb) with battery, consistent across all four generations.

Dimensions & finish

358.3 × 248 × 18.3–19.8 mm (14.11" × 9.76" × 0.72"–0.78"). Aluminum lid and deck in MSI's matte "Core Black" — no gold or copper accents anywhere on the chassis.

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I find the exact model of my MSI GS66 Stealth?
Close the lid and turn the laptop upside down. The printed label on the bottom cover shows the full retail name — something like GS66 Stealth 10SF-005US or Stealth GS66 12UGS-246US — along with a board code beginning with MS-16V. MS-16V1 means 2020, MS-16V3 means early 2021, MS-16V4 means 2021, and MS-16V5 means 2022. If the sticker has worn off, use Windows instead: hold the Windows key, press R, type msinfo32, and press Enter. The line marked "System Model" gives you the board code and "Processor" gives you the exact Intel chip. To read your graphics card, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, open the Performance tab, and click the GPU entry on the left — the RTX model name appears in the top-right corner. Our MSI model number guide and the processor type guide cover both methods with pictures.
02 How do I know I have a GS66 Stealth and not another MSI laptop that looks like it?
MSI built several 15.6-inch black laptops in this period, and a few share almost the same silhouette: the GS65 Stealth (2018–2019) is the easy one — it has gold or copper accents around the lid logo, the vents, and the trackpad, while every GS66 Stealth is black on black with no accent color at all. The WS66 is the workstation twin of the 2020 chassis and carries NVIDIA Quadro or RTX A-series professional graphics instead of GeForce. The Stealth 15M is thinner and lighter with a much smaller battery. The Stealth GS77 is the 17.3-inch version. The board code settles it: only the GS66 Stealth uses MS-16V1, MS-16V3, MS-16V4, or MS-16V5. If your bottom label shows anything else, browse our full MSI trade-in catalog and pick the matching model instead — quoting the wrong product means your offer gets revised after inspection.
03 Will you still buy it if the battery is swollen, the fans are loud, or the screen is cracked?
Yes. We buy GS66 Stealth units in every condition, working or not. Use the condition selectors above to mark what applies — cosmetic wear, a cracked or dim display, a battery that no longer holds a charge, keyboard or trackpad faults, power and motherboard problems, or missing storage — and the offer adjusts on the spot rather than after we open the box. A few GS66-specific notes: swollen batteries are common on these after four or five years and often show up as a trackpad that sits raised or clicks unevenly. If yours is visibly swollen, please tell us in the order notes so we can pack and ship it safely. Upgraded RAM or a larger SSD that you installed yourself is welcome and stays with the laptop. If you removed the original drive, mark "Defective/Missing Storage" rather than leaving it blank. Send the original 180W, 230W, or 240W MSI charger if you still have it. These are high-wattage proprietary adapters that are expensive to replace, and including yours raises your payout.
04 What is a trade-in, and which GS66 Stealth configurations are worth the most?
Most people looking to sell a gaming laptop assume their only options are a marketplace listing or a store gift card. There is a third one that far fewer sellers know about: a direct cash trade-in. Gadget Salvation has bought used electronics since 2008. You answer a few questions above, lock in a firm offer, print a free insured UPS label, ship the laptop, and get paid — no listing, no photos, no buyer negotiations, no shipping costs, and no selling fees taken out of your total. See how the whole process works, or read our breakdown of laptop trade-in offers and how to get the most money. On the GS66 Stealth specifically, the graphics chip drives the value more than anything else. An RTX 3080 or RTX 3080 Ti build (10UH, 11UH, 12UH, 12UHS) is worth substantially more than an RTX 3060 build (10UE, 11UE, 12UE), and the RTX 30-series models generally outrank the 2020 RTX 20-series ones. Processor generation is the second lever: a 12th Gen Core i9 pays more than a 10th Gen Core i7 in an otherwise identical chassis. If your unit is unusual — 64GB of RAM, dual 2TB drives, or the 16GB RTX 3080 Ti — request a custom quote so we can price the specific build instead of the standard configuration. We also handle multi-unit sales through bulk trade-in. Curious how the GS66 sits in MSI's wider gaming range? Our blog covers the best MSI gaming laptops, and you can browse everything we buy on the gaming laptop trade-in page.
05 Do I need to wipe my data first, and how soon do I get paid?
Back up anything you want to keep first — game saves, screenshots, streaming presets, and your documents folder — to an external drive or cloud storage. Then sign out of your Microsoft account and any game launchers, and run a factory reset. On an MSI laptop you can hold F3 at the MSI logo during startup to reach the built-in recovery partition; our step-by-step walkthrough is here: How to factory reset an MSI laptop. If the laptop was issued by an employer or a school, ask their IT team to release it from device management before you ship it. You do not need to unscrew the bottom cover or remove the M.2 SSDs — every drive we receive goes through our certified erasure process, documented on the data erasure protocols page. Packing and shipping are free and insured; follow the shipping instructions so the laptop survives transit. Once it arrives and passes inspection, payment goes out within two business days by PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, or a mailed check — your choice.
