Apple iPhone 12 Mini: Small But Mighty

The Apple iPhone 12 Mini is not a cheap smartphone by any means. However, it’s the least expensive one in the line, introduced by the manufacturer in late 2020.

If you’ve used the Apple iPhone 12 Mini smartphone for some time, you’ll realize that it is a very handy device with several useful and time-saving features.

However, if you want to do even more with your iPhone, especially if you are an aspiring creator, the latest iPhone 12 Pro Max would be a better option for you. We recommend checking out our iPhone 12 Pro Max Review piece before taking the plunge.

Size & Display

The Apple iPhone 12 Mini is 2.53 inches wide and 5.18 inches high, weighing just 4.76 ounces and measuring 0.29 inches thick. Thanks to the Ceramic Shield technology, this iPhone model is sturdy. It features a 5.4-inch multi-touch Super Retina XDR display, the same as that of the iPhone 12 Pro.

Connectivity & Operating System

iPhone 12 Mini supports GSM/EDGE and has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 5G data connectivity. Moreover, it has a 12-MP dual-camera system that maintains MPEG-4 video setups up to 2.5 Mbps, MOV file formats, and stereo audio in MP4 and M4V. The iPhone 12 Mini also has stereo earphones with an in-built microphone. Visual Voicemail enables you to choose the message you think is most essential instead of listening to every message in the order it was received.

It has Protected AAC, audio formats AAC, MP3 VBR, AIFF, WAV, and Apple Lossless. The Apple iPhone has a stereo headphone mini-jack of 3.5mm and also a 30-pin dock connector. It, of course, supports iOS 14, which features pinned conversations in Messages, Widgets, and App Clips, for example.

**Power Management

It has an in-built rechargeable lithium-ion battery that offers video playback for up to seven straight hours. The battery life is determined by several factors. For example, location, cellular network, EDGE connectivity, sign 3.5 mm strength, usage, feature configuration, and others

Ease of Use

The iPhone 12 Mini is undoubtedly a highly functional cell phone. Apple pushes its performance even further by offering small but very convenient perks, such as the snap-on MagSafe case, turbo wireless charging, and five new color finishes.

The Apple iPhone 12 Mini is your best friend for TikToks and Instagram posts. Many Gen-Z users appreciate the ability to take professional-quality photos with ease, thanks to the app’s six creative lighting effects. These effects come in Studio Light, High-Key Light Mono, and Natural Light variations.

A14 Bionic Chip Performance

The Apple iPhone 12 Mini has 4GB of RAM and features the A14 Bionic processor, currently the fastest available in a smartphone. Sure, this phone is small, but the A14 chip lets it run multiple operations at once without a hitch, shoot in Dolby Vision, and make its battery work more efficiently. The same chip is used in the iPhone 12 Pro.

iOS 14.2

iOS 14.2 operative system is currently available for every iPhone model, starting with the older 6S phone to the latest iPhone 12. The iOS is loaded with shortcuts that are extremely convenient and time-saving. Users also reported that the Safari app is more responsive and faster on iOS 14.

Camera

Just like the iPhone 12, the Apple iPhone 12 Mini model has a front-facing selfie camera and a main (back) dual-camera system, both of which are 12 MP. The dual-system camera offers Wide and Ultra Wide cameras, both of which now support Night mode, which is perfect for low-light photos. Night mode turns on automatically, helping iPhone 12 Mini users maintain image clarity and brightness. It supports HEIF and JPEG formats, offers advanced red-eye correction, 2x optical zoom out, and digital zoom up to 5x.

Storage Size & Pricing

The Apple iPhone 12 Mini comes in three storage size options: the most affordable is the 64GB one, which will cost you $729 plus tax. This size option is sufficient if you don’t plan to shoot and store numerous photos and videos, download lots of music or movies, and/or play many games. The other two options would be 128GB and 256GB, costing $779 and $879, plus tax, respectively.

The Verdict

The Apple iPhone 12 Mini smartphone has all the same great features as the base iPhone 12 model, but it is smaller and costs less. The model has subpar battery life and requires a 20W charger; older 5W adapters just won’t do. The iPhone 12 Mini is still a great 5G-capable phone with a fantastic camera and sleek appearance. This model is especially perfect for fans of the original iPhone SE.
