The Lenovo ThinkPad P16s Gen 4, released in 2025, is the newest generation of Lenovo's thin-and-light 16-inch mobile workstation — an ISV-certified, AI-ready Copilot+ PC built for engineers, architects, designers, and students who need real workstation power in a laptop light enough to carry all day. Like earlier P16s models, it comes in two versions: an Intel model (Core Ultra Series 2) and an AMD model (Ryzen AI PRO 300). What sets Gen 4 apart from every P16s before it is its new AI-capable processors with a dedicated NPU, next-gen NVIDIA RTX PRO (Blackwell) graphics on Intel builds, Wi-Fi 7, and an optional stunning 4K OLED touchscreen. Because the P16s Gen 4 is highly configurable — two processor brands, integrated or professional NVIDIA graphics, memory, storage, and several display panels — your exact configuration decides its final resale price. If you're looking to sell your ThinkPad P16s Gen 4, our Lenovo ThinkPad trade-in page gives you a real cash offer — just pick your components using the tool above to see an instant quote for your exact device.

First: confirm you have the Gen 4 (and Intel or AMD)

The P16s has looked similar across its generations, so the reliable way to confirm you have the Gen 4 is the processor. Press the Windows key, type “System Information,” open it, and read the Processor line — that single line tells you both the generation and whether yours is the Intel or AMD version.

P16s Gen 4 — Intel version

Processor reads Intel Core Ultra 5 225H, Core Ultra 7 265H, or Core Ultra 9 285H (Core Ultra Series 2). These builds can include NVIDIA RTX PRO professional graphics.

P16s Gen 4 — AMD version

Processor reads AMD Ryzen AI 5 PRO 340, Ryzen AI 7 PRO 350, or Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370 (Ryzen AI PRO 300 series) with integrated AMD Radeon graphics.

If your processor is an older 12th/13th-Gen Intel chip or a Ryzen 6000/7040 chip, you have an earlier P16s (Gen 1–3), not this one — see the identification section below. Not sure how to read your specs? Our how to find your processor type walkthrough and our guide to finding your Lenovo model number both show exactly where to look.

Core hardware configurations

Processor (CPU)

  • Intel: Core Ultra 5 225H, Core Ultra 7 265H, or Core Ultra 9 285H (Core Ultra Series 2 / Arrow Lake, with AI NPU)
  • AMD: Ryzen AI 5 PRO 340, Ryzen AI 7 PRO 350, or Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370 (Ryzen AI PRO 300, with AI NPU)

Graphics (GPU)

  • Intel models: integrated Intel Arc (130T / 140T), or optional discrete NVIDIA RTX PRO 500 (6GB GDDR7) or RTX PRO 1000 (8GB GDDR7) Blackwell graphics
  • AMD models: integrated AMD Radeon (840M / 860M / 890M) — no discrete NVIDIA option on the AMD version

Memory (RAM)

  • DDR5 / LPDDR5x memory, offered in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, or 96GB
  • On many configurations the memory is soldered to the mainboard and not upgradable, so check your exact model before assuming it can be expanded

Storage

  • M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive (SSD), Gen4 (Gen5 on select Intel builds)
  • 256GB / 512GB / 1TB / 2TB shipping capacities
  • The SSD is replaceable, and is the main user-upgradeable part on this machine

Make sure it's a P16s Gen 4 (and not a Gen 1–3, P16, P16v, or T16)

Lenovo's ThinkPad workstation range has several similar names, and the P16s has been sold for a few years now, so a quick check keeps you from picking the wrong product. The two cards below cover this model and the ones it's most often confused with.

This model — ThinkPad P16s Gen 4 (2025)

The label reads “ThinkPad P16s Gen 4.” It's the thin-and-light 16-inch workstation (around 4 lb) and the only P16s that uses Core Ultra Series 2 (Intel) or Ryzen AI PRO 300 (AMD) processors, Wi-Fi 7, and Copilot+ AI features.

Not this one — the close relatives

The earlier P16s Gen 1, 2, and 3 (2022–2024) use older processors. The ThinkPad P16 and P16v are bigger, heavier, more powerful workstations. The T16 Gen 4 looks nearly identical to the AMD P16s but is a standard laptop, not a workstation, and the P1 is a separate premium model. If your label shows any of those, pick that model when you request a quote.

Where to look: the exact name (“ThinkPad P16s Gen 4”) and the machine type model (MTM) number are printed on the label on the bottom cover. You can also open the Start menu, type “System Information,” and read the System Model line. Our guide to finding your laptop's model number shows exactly where to find it.

Display & audio

Display

A 16-inch, 16:10 aspect-ratio panel (taller than standard widescreen, great for documents and CAD). Options range from a WUXGA (1920 × 1200) anti-glare IPS panel at 400 nits, or a low-power 500-nit version, up to a spectacular WQUXGA 4K (3840 × 2400) OLED touchscreen with 100% DCI-P3 color, 400 nits, and Dolby Vision. The 4K OLED panel typically fetches a higher trade-in value, so it's worth noting which one you have.

Audio & camera

Stereo speakers with Dolby Audio and dual far-field microphones, plus a 5MP infrared (IR) + RGB webcam with a physical privacy shutter, human-presence detection, and Windows Hello face sign-in.

Ports & connectivity

A practical business port set. The P16s Gen 4 charges over USB-C using its included adapter (65–100 W depending on configuration) — there is no separate barrel charger. Both the Intel and AMD versions use fast USB-C ports, with Thunderbolt 4 on Intel models and USB4 on AMD models.

Left Side
  • 2× USB-C (Thunderbolt 4 on Intel; USB4 40Gbps on AMD — both support charging and DisplayPort)
  • 1× HDMI 2.1 (up to 4K/60Hz)
Right Side
  • 2× USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 (one Always On for charging devices)
  • 1× Gigabit Ethernet (RJ-45)
  • 1× 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack
  • Optional smart card reader on select models

Wi-Fi 7 Bluetooth 5.4 Optional 4G/5G WWAN

Battery, build & more

Battery & charging

A 57 Whr or 75 Whr integrated battery depending on configuration, charged over USB-C with the bundled 65 W or 100 W adapter. Rapid Charge tops it up quickly; there is no barrel charging port.

Security & sign-in

Fingerprint reader, IR camera for Windows Hello face sign-in, a webcam privacy shutter, a discrete TPM 2.0 chip with Microsoft Pluton, and Lenovo's ThinkShield business security suite.

Keyboard & input

Spill-resistant backlit ThinkPad keyboard with a full numeric keypad, the red TrackPoint pointing stick, and a wide glass Precision touchpad with physical mouse buttons.

Build & design

Classic black ThinkPad chassis (Intel models use an all-aluminum build; AMD models use magnesium with a soft-touch finish), MIL-STD-810H durability tested, and ISV-certified for professional software.

Weight

≈ 1.8 kg (about 4 lb), varying by configuration.

Dimensions

≈ 361.5 × 248.6 × 12.6–18.2 mm (14.24" × 9.79" × 0.49"–0.72").

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I confirm I have the P16s Gen 4 (and whether it's Intel or AMD)?
The processor tells you both at once. Press the Windows key, type “System Information,” open it, and read the Processor line. A Core Ultra 5 225H / 7 265H / 9 285H means the Intel Gen 4; a Ryzen AI 5 PRO 340 / 7 PRO 350 / 9 HX PRO 370 means the AMD Gen 4. You can also flip the laptop over and read “ThinkPad P16s Gen 4” printed on the bottom label, along with the machine type model (MTM) number and serial. If your chip is an older Core (12th/13th Gen) or Ryzen 6000/7040, you have an earlier P16s generation instead. Our find-your-processor guide walks through it with pictures.
02 Is the P16s Gen 4 the same as an earlier P16s, or the P16, P16v, or T16?
No — and the names are close enough to cause mix-ups. The P16s Gen 4 (2025) is the newest thin-and-light workstation, and the only one with Core Ultra Series 2 or Ryzen AI PRO 300 processors, Wi-Fi 7, and Copilot+ AI features. The earlier P16s Gen 1, 2, and 3 (2022–2024) use older chips and are worth less. The ThinkPad P16 and P16v are much bigger, heavier, more powerful workstations. The T16 Gen 4 is nearly identical in appearance to the AMD P16s but is a standard business laptop rather than an ISV-certified workstation, so check the label carefully. The P1 is a separate premium workstation. If your label shows anything other than “P16s Gen 4,” pick that model when you request your quote so your offer is accurate.
03 Can I sell a P16s Gen 4 that has wear, an upgraded SSD, or hardware issues?
Yes. We buy these mobile workstations in all working conditions. Whether yours is like-new, has scuffs on the chassis, a worn keyboard, a battery that no longer holds a charge, or a cracked screen, just set the matching condition options above and your offer updates to a firm cash value. Because the M.2 SSD is user-replaceable, it's completely fine if yours has been changed from the factory build — just select the storage that's actually installed now so your offer reflects the real hardware. If you have the 4K OLED touchscreen, the RTX PRO graphics, or a high-end Ryzen AI 9 / Core Ultra 9 chip, note that, since those premium options can raise your quote.
04 How does the trade-in process work, and did you know this is an option?
Many people don't realize they can sell a business laptop like this directly for cash instead of letting it sit in a drawer after an upgrade, or dealing with buyers on a marketplace. Here's how it works with us: pick your version, configuration, and condition above to get an instant quote, accept it, and we email you a free, fully insured prepaid shipping label. Box up your ThinkPad P16s Gen 4, drop it off, and once it arrives and our team confirms the configuration and condition, your payment is approved — typically within about two business days. You can get paid by PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or CashApp, or by a mailed physical check. If you'd like to read more first, our step-by-step guide to selling a used laptop online and our post on what your laptop is worth walk through it. You can also browse other Lenovo laptops we buy or all PC laptops.
05 Should I wipe my data or remove the SSD before shipping?
We recommend backing up anything you want to keep to an external drive or the cloud, then signing out of your Microsoft or company account and doing a factory reset (Windows Settings → System → Recovery → Reset this PC) before you ship. If your P16s Gen 4 was managed by an employer, make sure it has been released from any company management or BitLocker lock first. You do not need to open the laptop or remove the M.2 SSD yourself — our team runs certified, multi-pass data sanitization on every drive we receive. You can read exactly how we handle it on our data erasure protocols page.
